Pyxis can combine or split ships in any hex, not only ones with their Influence Disc. Each conversion costs Transmatter, and players read the rules as allowing repeats. The ships involved must all be available, including intermediate ones: you cannot convert a Deathmoon into four Cruisers if both Dreadnoughts are already built elsewhere on the board.
