The rulebook says only ready Obstacles block you.

No. Only a ready Obstacle blocks travel and interaction. Exhaust it (for example with Avoid on a being) and you can pass. Gear that ignores Obstacles typically works only during your turn, so it does not help with travel, which happens after turns end.
