How does slotting a Treasure token work, and can slotted tokens be moved or discarded?

As a Free Action you place a token from your tray on a Slot of a Tableau card, discarding any token already there with no gain. Slotted tokens cannot be moved, and are not resources, so effects that make you discard resources cannot take them.
