Setup
Line up the two kingdom cards, forming a panorama between you and your opponent. Shuffle the dragon cards (which show one or two dragons) and form a face-down pile. Reveal the first dragon card and place it in the centre of the panorama.
Each player receives the nine cards (X, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6) of one of the two kingdoms (green or red) to form their hand.
Playing the Game
The game is played over a number of rounds. At the start of each round, both players choose a card from their hand and reveal them at the same time. The cards are compared to determine who wins the round:
Shield Cards
If one or both players have chosen a shield card (X), nothing happens.
Value Cards
If both players have chosen a value card, the following applies:
Bishop card (value 4): If one player has played the Bishop card of value 4, the player who played the card of lower value wins the round. If both players have played the Bishop card of value 4, nothing happens.
Jester card (value 0): If one player has played the Jester card of value 0 and the other player has played a King or Queen card of value 6, or the Bishop card of value 4, the player who played the Jester card of value 0 wins the round. If the other player has played any other card, that other player wins the round.
Other value cards: If neither player has played the Bishop card of value 4 or the Jester card of value 0, the player who played the higher card wins the round. If both players have played cards of equal value, nothing happens.
Moving the Dragon
If you win the round, move the current dragon card one step in your direction: from the opponent's side of the panorama towards the centre (1), or from the centre of the panorama towards your side (2). If the dragon card is already on your side when you win a round, you finally capture the dragon card (3).
After each round, the players discard their chosen card face down onto a personal discard pile (whether or not the round had a winner). Then begin the next round.
Capturing a Dragon Card
If you capture a dragon card, remove it from the panorama and place it next to you. Reveal the next dragon card from the pile and place it in the centre of the panorama. Then begin the next round.
Recovering Your Hand
When you (and your opponent) have played the last card in your hand, take all nine cards of your kingdom from your personal discard pile and put them back into your hand. Then begin the next round.
End of the Game
The game ends when one of the players has captured dragon cards totalling 4 dragons (or more). That player wins the duel. Honour and glory are won!
Example: The player with the green kingdom captured 2 cards with 1 dragon each and 1 card with 2 dragons, totalling 4 dragons captured. The green kingdom wins the game.
