- 1 wooden candy machine consisting of various parts (1 base, 2 feet)
- 4 tins
- 16 wooden candy pieces (four of each color: red, yellow, orange and green)
- 4 purple crackers
- 1 licorice bar (rod which functions as a die)
- 1 set of game instructions
Aim of the game
Who will have at the end of the game the biggest number and most valuable candies in their tin?
Preparation of the game
Assemble machine: Place the base vertically on the table and insert both feet through the holes so that both balls may be seen on the front side of the base plate. Now the machine is ready for use.
Place tins: Place the four tins on the four squares marked on the metal bar. Always place the four tins even if less than four players are playing the game.
Choose color: Each player chooses a colored tin.
Get licorice bar ready: Get the licorice bar ready.
Wooden drops on machine: Mix the wooden drops and crackers and place 10 on each of the two machine entrances.
Important: As you turn the buttons of the machine the transmission belts which are tightened over the buttons will start moving. In this way the drops and crackers on the belts are transported through the machine. The drops of one's own color are, of course, especially valuable! Try to avoid the crackers falling into your tin as they later will score minus points.
How to play
Whichever player is wearing clothes of especially candy like colors starts. If you can't agree, the youngest player starts.
They take the licorice bar between the palms of their hands, rub it quickly to and fro and throw it with verve on to the table. (Throw licorice bar)
Which symbol appears on top?
(Dots: turn buttons)
-
Two or three white dots. You may turn the same number of buttons. You are free to choose in which direction you want to turn the buttons. You turn until a drop falls down onto the next belt. That corresponds for one dot on the licorice. → Crackers should only be transported downwards when the corresponding symbol is rolled on the die. → You are free to choose in which direction you want to turn the buttons. → You are also free to choose in which order you want to turn the buttons. → You also may turn one button various times - until two or even three candies have fallen down. That corresponds than to two or three dots of the dice. → If a candy triggers off a chain reaction and other candies fall down, these stay where they land and don't correspond to any of the dots on the die.
-
A tin with a white dot. Take the tin on the far left from the metal bar and push it again onto the wire from the right hand side. In this way all tins move on one square. Now you can turn any button you like.
-
The cracker. Only with this symbol can you transport crackers down a level. Turn the corresponding buttons in order to move all the crackers which are lying on the belt without candy.
Examples:
- This cracker can be transported downwards towards the left or the right.
- This cracker can only be transported down and towards the left.
- This cracker can not be transported.
If there is no cracker lying alone on a belt, then unfortunately you can not move any button.
Then it's the turn of the next player.
End of the game
All drops fallen = end of game: Once all the candy has landed in the tins, the game is over – even if there are crackers left on the belts.
Score: Each player takes their tin and adds up the score of its contents. Scores are calculated as follows:
- each candy of one's own color scores two points.
- all other candy scores one point.
- each cracker scores one minus point.
Those who can not yet do the arithmetic must put aside a candy of another player's color for each cracker.
Most points = winner: Whoever has the most points, wins the game and is named best candy collector of the factory "Candy & Co."
