Campaign Introduction

Each Adventure will tell you when to read the Prologues, Interludes and Epilogues for each Adventure within these pages: either on the Adventure card or within the rules sheet for modified Adventures from the base game. Additional rules to apply for Adventures, as well as when to apply them, are also noted here in. There are some instances where story surprises are on the same page as text you're reading for the start of an Adventure. I know it's tempting, but carefully ensuring you only read material as directed will maximize your immersion and enjoyment within Moonshae Storms.

Adventure: Bruised and Sullen Storm Clouds

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Using the sidebar rules below, start Adventure.

If the average Campaign Score of the party is 1 or more, the first encounter revealed in the first Scene should be revealed from the Secondary Deck. In this instance, if the party completes the Adventure, the players each receive a bonus 1 XP. Finally, if any player has the Devil's Horns Trophy, Tylk must be placed facing that character.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Adventure: The Siege of Elyssyrr

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Start Adventure.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

The Blessings of Lycanthropy and Resistance to Lycanthropy Features are restricted until reaching a point in the campaign that allows these to be taken.

Adventure: The Evil Eye

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Using the sidebar rules at right, start Adventure.

If the average Campaign Score of the party is 1 or greater, apply a -1 Dragonfire level at the start of Scene 3. If the average Campaign Score of the party is 2 or greater, apply a -1 Dragonfire level at the start of Scene 2. (In both instances, bury a Dragonfire card from the discard.) In all cases, the Adventure, whether you complete it or not, is worth 1 less XP.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Adventure: Into the Mountains

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Using the sidebar rules below, start Adventure.

If a player has the Devil's Horns Trophy, this Adventure begins at Dragonfire level 1. Additionally, when setting up the game, the second card shuffled with the Rakshasa must be the Bone Devil (Difficulty 2 Any encounter from Moonshae Storms). When it is revealed, it is placed facing the character who has the Devil's Horns Trophy; that player immediately draws one card.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Immediately read the sidebar below.

The next page contains an Interlude meant only for the player with the Lycanthropy Curse Feature. Have the player read it now, silently, and make their decision. (If another player is replaying the Moonshae Storms campaign and has the Lycanthropy Curse Feature as well, they can make this decision again.)

The Blessings of Lycanthropy: Interlude

This should only be read by the player(s) with Lycanthropy.

[Interlude fiction omitted. The Interlude presents Nadir's offer to the player with the Lycanthropy Curse Feature and asks them to decide whether to accept it.]

If you accept Nadir's offer, you may now (and ongoing) purchase the Blessings of Lycanthropy Features. They have no inherent XP cost and do not require a slot on your Character screen (place them on the back). Each Feature (i.e., both I and II) adds a +1 to your personal Campaign Score when acquired. Only one Blessings of Lycanthropy Feature may be acquired at a given Character Level, and you must acquire Blessings of Lycanthropy I first. When you gain a new level, you may purchase the second Blessings Feature.

Adventure: A Fork in the Storm

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Using the sidebar rules below, start Adventure.

A Choice: Before starting the Adventure, the party must choose either Sacred Grove or Synorria's Treasures, then apply those specific rules when playing through A Fork in the Storm.

Drewlynn's Boon: The fey noble provides each character with two draws from the Common Magic Item Deck immediately before play begins. They may keep one, but if they do they must add it to their Equipment Pack for A Fork in the Storm. They may not trade.

For any player with the Devil's Horns Trophy, she also recognizes their heroism and provides a single draw from the Rare Magic Item Deck. They may attune to it, regardless of Character Level (Character Magic Item Limitations still apply), or refuse it. If they keep it they must add it to their Equipment Pack for A Fork in the Storm. They may not trade.

Epilogue One (Sacred Grove)

Read this only if you chose Sacred Grove.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Epilogue Two (Synorria's Treasures)

Read this only if you chose Synorria's Treasures.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Adventure: The Ki-Rin Refuge

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

Start Adventure.

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

The next page contains an Interlude meant only for the player with the lowest total XP whose Primary Class Type is Martial (black). If more than one player that fits this criteria the party must choose one. If no character fits this criteria, chose the player with the secondary Martial Class Type. Have that player read the Interlude now, silently, and make a decision.

A Dialogue of Shepherds: Interlude

This should only be read by the chosen Martial player.

[Interlude fiction omitted. The Interlude presents Nadir's offer, a small ivory seashell, to the chosen Martial player.]

You may read this Interlude, all or in part, to the other players, or paraphrase Nadir's offer in any way you'd like. Once you do, you may purchase the Shepherd Background Feature for 5 XP (now or later). This Feature does not require a slot on your Character screen (place it on the back).

Adventure: The Storm Breaks

[Prologue fiction omitted.]

[Epilogue fiction omitted.]

Immediately continue reading on the next page.

Campaign Wrapup

The following should all be reviewed and decided by the party during the Long Rest following the final Adventure of the Moonshae Storms Campaign.

The Storm Breaks

If the party has not received their XP and Magic Item awards from the final Adventure, do so now.

Prophecy

The full Prophecy of Ash and Flame appears on the final page, which Tylk gives you before submerging herself once more in Myrloch's waters. It will be valuable as your quest continues.

Lycanthropy Curse

Any character suffering from the Lycanthropy Curse Feature has learned enough focus from being in Daiwon's presence to begin resisting the curse. These characters may purchase Resistance to Lycanthropy Features just like any other Feature.

Only one Resistance to Lycanthropy Feature may be acquired at a given Character Level, and you must acquire Resistance to Lycanthropy I first. When you gain a new level, you may purchase the second Resistance to Lycanthropy Feature.

If a player accepted Nadir's offer and purchased a Blessings of Lycanthropy Feature, they must remove it from their Character screen before they can purchase a Resistance to Lycanthropy Feature. Or vice-versa: they are incompatible. (Any Campaign Score gained, however, remains.)

Daiwon's Horn

If the party chooses, the ki-rin's horn may be used immediately to remove the Lycanthropy Curse Feature. To do so, destroy the Ki-rin's Horn Trophy Feature (literally tear it up). It is lost forever.

If the afflicted character chooses to deal with the curse in their own way, then one player may add the Ki-rin's Horn Trophy sticker to the back of their Character screen. (If the Adventure is replayed, whether as part of a campaign or not, no character present during this specific Long Rest may accept this Trophy ever again.)

Good Fortune

In future adventures, while in possession of this trophy, when drawing from the Common Magic Item Deck, the luck of the horn provides an extra draw. The player must put one Magic Item back, but may choose to keep or trade the other per the normal rules.

Nadir

If a Martial character presented Nadir's offer to the party (A Dialogue of Shepherds: Interlude), that player receives a +1 to their Campaign Score whether or not they have yet taken the Shepherd Background Feature.

If a decision was not made at the Interlude to destroy the shell (right then, and not at the shoreline) all characters present during the Interlude or The Storm Breaks (except the "Shepherd") receive a single +1 to their Campaign Score. The party may now decide (as a group) to destroy the shell, or toss it into the waters of Myrloch. If you toss it into the waters, each player receives the following boon which they should immediately note on their Character screen. Choose one: you may add +1 to your Misc. Magic Item Limitation or you may discard any current Magic Item you have access to and redraw one of equal or lesser rarity.

To be continued...

Prophecy of Ash and Flame

Handout (printed as a scroll on the final page of the campaign book). Transcribed as verse, line by line as printed; italic words are italic in the original.

five keys fit an ancient lock that once was nearly turned ...blackened armor, golden oil ...Elvencourt and common soil ...one chained long in Hastur's rock all those which shall be burned

never lost in sulfur's land the sword which fell from grace ...anchored in the worlds below ...face aflame in Hellish glow ...greedily we stretch our hand back to that time and place

brothers knot but heads of twain upon sit crowns of old ...hopeless will the father be ...wretched king the cursed key ...faces set in mortal pain will be what was foretold

faces of this time and past two heroes force the day ...risen hand from Telum's Ford ...voiced within the silver sword ...riven souls are binded fast

for none shall bar their way
