Setup

Give each player their own set of Dog tiles and the Penalty tokens of a chosen color. Each player also receives a small folding Personal board, a Reference card, and 2 Score tokens (placed blue side up). Place the 5 Door tiles in the center of the table. Players shuffle their Dog tiles and arrange them on their Personal board facing themselves, so that only they can see their own tile faces. Determine the first player; that player takes the Leader token.

Gameplay

The game is a series of turns, and on each turn a player must carry out one of 4 available actions. At the start of each round, the Leader chooses a door to search and turns it yellow side up. The next player then has four possible actions to choose from:

  1. Approve. You agree, and your turn ends. This means you are satisfied with the current choice of door to search.

  2. Open another door. Choose another door to search and also turn it to its yellow side. You cannot use this action to close a door that was opened earlier. If you carry out this action, take the Leader token for yourself.

  3. Swap doors. If you choose this action, close all open doors. Now open that same number of doors + 1, and none of the doors you open this way may be one you just closed. If you carry out this action, the Leader token passes to you.

  4. Accuse the Leader.

Choose a number from 1 to 5. The Leader shows the tile in the corresponding spot on their Personal board. If that tile shows a dog, the Leader flips one of their Penalty tokens, and you reveal one of your own tiles. After that, the Leader reshuffles their tiles and sets them out again. Otherwise, the Leader leaves the revealed tile — marked with an X — visible. At any point in the game, if a player reveals their third X-marked tile, they score a victory point by flipping one Score token in their personal supply. That player then reshuffles their tiles again and places them face-down (facing themselves) on their Personal board. All open doors are closed, the Leader chooses a new door to search and turns it over, and a new round begins with the player to the Leader's left. If the Leader was caught out and had their dog revealed, the player to their left becomes the new Leader.

Search Phase

If all players choose the Approve action, the round moves to the Search Phase. Now, starting with the Leader and going clockwise, players reveal all of their tiles with numbers matching the open doors. If a dog is revealed, no one reveals any further tiles. The player whose dog was found flips a Penalty token, then reshuffles their tiles the same way as during setup. When this happens, the new round begins with the Leader closing all doors and choosing a door they want to open; play then begins with the player to the Leader's left.

If a player reveals their tiles and at least 3 X-marks turn up among them without their dog being found, they immediately flip half of their medal (1 Score token) gold side up. They then reshuffle their tiles again, the same way as during setup.

End of Game

If a player takes three Penalties, they are eliminated from the game! If every player but one has been eliminated, that remaining player wins!

A player who flips both of their Score tokens gold side up wins outright.
