Pieces

Each player has 16 pieces, as follows:

  • 1 Commissioner / Boss (Comisario / Jefe)
  • 7 Detectives / Bodyguards (Detectives / Guardaespaldas)
  • 8 Police / Gunmen (Policías / Pistoleros)

Note: the printed sheet lists these pieces in its introduction without a section heading; the heading is added here for organisation.

Piece Placement

First, decide who plays with the Red pieces and who plays with the Blue pieces. Place the pieces in this order:

  • The COMMISSIONER or BOSS goes on the first street, on the circle marked in Red or in Blue that matches the colour of your pieces.
  • On each side of that piece, place the DETECTIVES or BODYGUARDS (completing the 8 circles around it).
  • On the second street (in front of the previous pieces), place the POLICE or GUNMEN.

Winning the Game

The winner is the player who captures the opposing player's boss.

Each player may move only one piece per move, in the direction indicated by the street on which it moves, and may advance or retreat horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

Piece Movements

  • The COMMISSIONER or BOSS moves only one circle per move, in any direction. Note: these are the only pieces that are not obliged to move in the direction indicated by the street.
  • The DETECTIVES or BODYGUARDS may advance three circles per move, starting from the circle they occupy and in the direction indicated by the street.
  • The POLICE or GUNMEN may advance two circles per move, starting from the circle they occupy and in the direction indicated by the street.
  • The player gains a piece when they manage to reach the circle on which that piece stands. Captured pieces are removed from the game board. A piece may not pass over any other piece, whether its own or the opponent's.

Notes

Boxed note on the printed sheet:

  • Try not to leave the COMMISSIONER or BOSS alone, always keeping one or two pieces nearby.
  • Any piece (of whatever kind) can capture any piece of the opponent.
  • Except for the COMMISSIONER or BOSS, all pieces must advance in the direction indicated by the street.
