The Principle
Trolls collect cards that they must spot during bonn'trolls. The more identical cards a troll holds, the more they are worth, especially those matching the troll's own Favourite Quarry (a secret objective). Each GéPé has a power that, in general, favours whoever uses it.
Setup
First. The trolls shuffle the Favourite Quarry ("Gibier Préféré") cards. Each troll draws one at random and looks at it secretly, taking care not to let the other trolls see. The unused Favourite Quarry cards are returned carefully to the box.
The other cards, the Adventurers (namely Thieves, Priest, Paladin...), are shuffled (not too hard) and stacked to form a draw pile.
Next. One of the trolls is designated to perform the first bonn'troll. That troll draws as many Adventurers as there are trolls, including themselves, and reveals them. Once everyone has seen them, the troll turns them face down and shuffles them to thoroughly confuse everyone.
Playing a Bonn'troll
Choosing cards. The troll seated to the left of the bonn'troll player chooses one of the face-down Adventurers and keeps it hidden. Then the next troll does the same, and so on.
Revealing and powers. When the bonn'trolleur (the troll running this bonn'troll, as printed in the source) takes the last Adventurer, each troll reveals their card and applies its power.
Some powers (such as stealing or swapping a card) apply immediately. Others apply at the next bonn'troll.
Skewering. Each troll then places their first Adventurer in front of them, face down. This is the first card of their skewer ("brochette"), which fills up over the course of the bonn'trolls.
Ending the game. When all the Adventurers have been skewered ("embrochés"), the game stops. Each troll counts their points. The troll with the most points wins.
And What Else
Gender tip for remembering powers: all male characters (including the Turkey and the Dragon) have powers that apply immediately, while the powers of female characters apply at the next bonn'troll.
The source adds that Dindons & Dragons is not a serious game. It exercises sight, hand and mind, and some may take it for a coordination game, but it is not to be taken too seriously.
Notes on This Transcription
- The source headings are image banners in the original page. They are translated here as "The Principle" and "And What Else". The step labels "First" and "Next" are kept as printed.
- Not included, because the source does not print them: the Favourite Quarry scoring values, the exact points formula, the number of cards in each deck, and the full power list for each character. Players should refer to the printed cards for these.
