Before the First Game

Important! Dear parents, please remove the cardboard sleeve and carefully press the game pieces out of the punch-out sheets. Keep the meadow sheets. They are part of the game and are essential for play. The cardboard sleeve and the cloud sheets marked with the trash-can symbol should be disposed of safely. They are not needed for the game.

What's Included

  • 1 Maya the Bee figure
  • 20 flower tiles
  • 1 die
  • 4 puzzle boards, each with 5 flowers
  • 4 cloud tiles with Maya the Bee's friends

Free Play and Discovering Details

In free play, children explore the game materials at their own pace. Join in and play together! Talk about what you see and what you can do with it. Fit the colorful flowers into the puzzle boards. Which flower belongs where? Take Maya the Bee and let her fly from flower to flower. Pretend she is collecting nectar.

Before You Begin

  • Place all the flowers face up in the center of the table as a shared supply.
  • Each player chooses a cloud with one of Maya the Bee's friends and takes one empty puzzle board. Place the cloud next to your puzzle board.
  • Return any unused game materials to the box.
  • Keep Maya the Bee and the die ready.

If you are playing with two players, you can also use all the game materials. In that case, each child takes two puzzle boards.

Let's Get Started

Take turns clockwise. Who most recently picked a flower? You start and roll the die.

What does the die show?

A color. Name the color.

  • Is the matching flower space on your puzzle board still empty? Then take a flower of that color from the center of the table and fit it into your puzzle board.
  • Is the matching flower space on your puzzle board already filled? That's okay. Take a flower of that color from the center and give it to another child who does not yet have that flower in their meadow.
  • If there are no flowers of that color left in the center, nothing happens.

Maya the Bee. Maya the Bee flies to you. "Buzz, buzz, buzz, Maya flies around!"

  • If Maya the Bee is in the center of the table, take her and place her in front of you.
  • If she is in front of another child, she flies from that child to you.
  • If Maya the Bee is already in front of you, great! Choose any color that is still missing from your puzzle board. Take a matching flower from the center and fit it into your puzzle board.

Then the next child takes their turn and rolls the die.

When Does the Game End?

The game ends as soon as a child fits the last flower into their puzzle board. Hooray, you win!

Did You Know?

Did you know that bees are incredibly important for agriculture? As they collect nectar and honeydew, pollen sticks to their legs and bodies. They carry this pollen from plant to plant. This is essential so that plants can produce fruits such as apples, strawberries, and even wheat.
