Game Contents

  1. Egg baskets - 4
  2. Egg stands - 4 (in 4 different colours)
  3. Bird cards - 44 (round, 11 in each of 4 colours)
  4. Egg halves (with magnets) - 24

Setup

Each player puts one basket next to himself and places one egg stand of the chosen colour in front of himself, where he can easily reach it. Each player also receives a set of 11 bird cards of his colour. Then place all 24 egg halves in the centre of the table (bird images face down) and mix them thoroughly.

Now everything is ready to begin the hunt.

Course of Play

Each participant grabs any egg half he likes and puts it on his stand. Now the fun begins, because all players, acting simultaneously and with only one hand, hurriedly sort through the egg halves lying on the table, trying to find the second half of the egg that is in their stand. Matching egg halves are very easy to identify, because they show the same bird.

If, while sorting through the egg halves, a player comes across a half of a different egg, he simply puts that half back on the table and continues searching. He does not have to return the egg half to the same place he took it from. As soon as a player finds a matching egg half, he immediately attaches it by magnet to the egg half on his stand and quickly puts the whole egg into his basket. After that he starts the hunt again: he immediately grabs a new egg half and puts it on his stand (without choosing). Each player tries to collect as many eggs as possible.

Hint: Remember the locations of matching egg halves. When your stand is empty, you can put one of them there in one move, and with the next move collect the whole egg and put it in your basket.

The round ends when all possible eggs have been collected by the players.

Important: Players are allowed to act with only one hand. It is forbidden to put eggs into opponents' baskets.

Resolving Special Situations

  • If you notice that the second half of your egg is on another player's stand, you may secretly take it and assemble the egg for your basket. If both players realize at the same moment and try to take the egg half from each other, they must both return these halves to the table.
  • If at the end of the round the two halves of the last egg are in the hands of two players, neither of them gets this egg and the round ends.
  • If at the end of the round non-matching egg halves remain on the table, they stay on the table and the round ends. This can happen only when some player assembled an egg from different halves.
  • If you have filled your basket to the brim, do not stop; keep collecting eggs. Pile them on top of or next to the basket.

After the Round Ends

After the round ends, the participants check the collected eggs. For each correct egg (an egg consisting of two matching halves), the player turns the corresponding bird card face down, showing that he has already found the egg of this bird. If a player collected an egg of a bird he has already found in previous rounds (the bird card is already turned over), he leaves it in that position and receives no additional bonuses.

If a player obtains an egg with a fox (a joker), he may turn face down any one bird card of his choice.

If a player collected a wrong egg, made of halves of different birds, he must turn two of his bird cards back face up. Each card turned back face up (in the current round) remains in that position even if the player collected the egg of that bird.

...A New Round Begins

After checking your haul, gather all the egg halves in the centre of the table, mix them thoroughly and begin a new round of the hunt!

A player who has 3 or fewer unturned bird cards may hide them in his hand that is not being used in the game, so that opponents have less chance to interfere with him.

End of the Game

The first to collect the eggs of all 11 birds (turn all his bird cards face down) is declared the winner. Remember that there may be several winners in the game.
