Components
- 50 maps
- 4 pencils
- 4 colored dice
Map: 25 cities, including 8 colored cities (there are 2 of each color). The map is divided into three zones: North-West, North-East and South. Each zone contains 8 or 9 cities. The map also has a scoring area, a special powers area, and a tracker.
Tracker: track which of the 36 possible numbers you have used.
Setup
Take one pencil and place one map in front of you. Write your name at the top of your sheet.
How to Play
Players take turns rolling the 4 dice. On each turn, every player combines the resulting numbers in order to get 2 two-digit numbers (i.e. 1 and 4 gives either 14 or 41).
Each die must be used exactly once. Each player writes down their 2 numbers in 2 empty cities on their map. Players can combine the dice differently, creating numbers from 11 to 66.
You must follow these conditions when writing a number:
- A number from 11 to 66 must not be written twice.
- You must write 2 numbers each turn. If you cannot or do not want to write a number, you have to cross a city off the map. The crossed-off cities won't be accessible anymore for the rest of the game. They also give you negative points at the end of the game.
When all the players have written their 2 numbers, the next player rolls the dice again and everyone writes 2 new numbers on their map.
On the last turn, there will be only one city left. Players can choose the 2 numbers they want to use from the 4 dice.
End of the Game
The game ends after 13 rounds: the map is full. Each player counts their points, and the player with the most points wins the game.
Special Powers
There are 2 special powers, and each can be used only once during the game. Once you have used a special power, note it down on your map by ticking the corresponding box.
Re-roll the dice: when it is your turn to roll the dice, you can choose to re-roll from 1 to up to 4 dice.
Beware: if you want to do so, you have to decide immediately after rolling the dice, and say it right away. All players have to use the new combination of dice, not only you.
Use a die twice: if you wish, you can choose to ignore a die and use another one twice instead.
Beware: the number you choose to use twice has to appear in both of the 2 numbers. You must not use it to create a single number with two identical digits (e.g. 11 or 22) and make a bonus city. This power can be used at any time, and applies only to you, but you must tell the other players when you use it. Every other player uses all 4 dice, as usual.
Scoring Sheet
There are several ways of scoring and losing points.
Bonus Cities // +1 point per city
There are 2 ways to make a city a bonus city:
- Use a number with 2 identical digits (11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66).
- Use a die of the same color to write a number in a colored city.
If a city becomes a bonus city, note it down immediately on your scoring sheet. You do not earn a double bonus if you write a number of 2 identical digits on a colored city, though.
Crossed-Out Cities // -1 point per city
A city must be crossed out if a player cannot or does not want to write a number on their map. Each crossed-out city is worth minus 1 point at the end of the game.
Whenever you cross out a city, write it down immediately on your scoring sheet.
Longest Road // +1 point per city on your road
At the end of the game, every player counts their longest road. A road is a succession of cities, directly linked to one another and in ascending order, without any crossed-out cities. A crossed-out city cannot be part of a road and defines the end (or beginning) of a road, if you cannot continue it otherwise.
The number of cities you have on your longest road is the number of points you win. The cities must be linked directly. A crossed-out city cannot be part of a road and defines the end (or beginning) of a road, if you cannot continue it otherwise.
Consecutive Numbers // points by series length
You score points for having at least 4 consecutive cities on your map. Cities are consecutive if they are linked to one another directly in ascending order. The longer your series is, the more points you earn, but beware, only your longest series counts. The series does not have to be part of the longest road.
- 4 consecutive cities = 2 points
- 5 = 3 points
- 6 = 4 points
- 7-9 = 6 points
- 10+ = 9 points
Beware: 16 and 21, 26 and 31, etc. are considered consecutive numbers. To know if numbers are consecutive or not, check the tracker below the map.
Zones // points by zones without crossed-out cities
You score points according to the number of zones without any crossed-out cities at the end of the game.
- 1 zone without any crossed-out cities = 4 points
- 2 zones = 7 points
- 3 zones = 9 points
Variant: One Number from Each Group of Tens
This is a variant for advanced players. We recommend you play a few times and grasp the mechanics of the game before adding this variant.
During the game, you receive a bonus when you create at least one number from each group of ten (i.e. 11-16, 21-26, etc.) written on your map.
When you have written at least one number from each "decade" on your map, count the number of colored cities that are still empty: this is the number of points you get. Write it down immediately on your scoring sheet.
Example
The example sheet shows the following:
- There are 5 bonus cities with 2 identical digits, and 4 colored cities filled with the dice of the corresponding color.
- Five cities have been crossed out.
- The longest road has 20 cities (shown by arrows).
- The longest consecutive series is from 11 to 15.
- No zone without any crossed-out cities.
- This game was played without the variant.
The example sheet totals 27 points.
