Setup

Remove all Property Claim cards of values 1 and 2 from the game, and replace them with the new petroleum terrain cards.

How to Play

When a player receives a petroleum terrain card, they can either keep it in their hand, as a normal Property Claim, or place it in front of them to account for the derricks that are on that card (in the upper left corner). In the latter case, the value of the card is ignored until the end of the game, only the derricks are taken into account.

Black-gold Baron

The first player who places a petroleum terrain in front of them takes the Black-gold Baron card.

The card's printed text, translated from the French on the card:

The player who has the most derricks wins this card. It is enough to equal the previous baron to take the card. At the end of the game, it is worth 1 point per derrick.

Important Rules

  • If a player places a petroleum terrain in front of them: that card cannot be stolen from the saloon.
  • If a player keeps a petroleum terrain in their hand: it will be considered until the end of the game as a normal Property Claim. If later on that player places that card in front of them thanks to an Elixir, or by placing cows on it, the derricks will not be taken into account.
  • If a player steals a petroleum terrain card from another player's hand: they must immediately decide whether to place it in front of them to account for the derricks or to keep it in their hand, as a normal Property Claim.
