Set Up

Have each player collect the following:

  • 1 Set of Core Dice
  • 1 Bank
  • 1 Life Tracker
  • 1 Attack Multiplier
  • 1 Defense Multiplier
  • 1 Gold Multiplier

The rest of the Core Dice are to be set between the players, for later use. This will be the Dice Cache.

Each player will place their Core set directly in front of them. This will be the start of each player's Stockpile.

The Attack, Defense, and Gold Multipliers will be used to track upgrades. Set each to the number 1 and place them to the player's right.

The Life Tracker will be used to track health. Set it to the heart symbol (full health) and place it to the player's left.

The Bank will be used to track Gold. Set it to the bag symbol (zero Gold) and place it to the player's left.

Game Play

Rounds

Dice Fights is played in an unlimited number of rounds. A round consists of three phases and is repeated until there is a final player standing.

Phase 1: Roll

Each player will roll their Stockpile and group the same results together.

The symbols are: Shield, Sword, and Gold (a bag of gold). Shields defend against attacks. Swords attack a chosen opponent. Gold buys dice and upgrades. Each symbol starts the game with a value of 1.

Optional re-roll: If a player chooses, they have the option of re-rolling any of the dice in their Stockpile. Any player who decides to take this option must re-roll at the same time. We suggest a countdown from three. The results of this roll must be kept.

Re-rolls must be done at the same time so players can't base their re-roll on other players' choices.

Phase 2: Resolve

Each roll will be resolved in the following order:

1: Attack and Defense

At the same time, players will point to the opponent they wish to attack. We suggest a countdown of 3 for this as well.

Shields block attacks if a player has them.

Each player will then track how much damage they take by rotating their Life Tracker to the appropriate number.

For example: Player One attacks Player Two with 3 Swords, and Player Two only has 1 Shield. Player Two would take a total of 2 damage.

2: Gold Collection

Each player will collect the Gold they rolled by rotating their Bank to the appropriate number.

For example: If a player rolled 4 Gold and has 3 Gold in their Bank, they would rotate their Bank to 7.

Phase 3: Purchases and Upgrades

Extra Core Dice, including the Box, can be purchased from the Dice Cache. Each purchase of an upgrade is tracked on the corresponding Multiplier.

Remember to rotate the Bank down when Gold is spent.

The purchase options are:

DescriptionPurchasePrice

How to Win

The last player standing is the winner! The game is over when all but one player has reached zero on their Life Tracker.

Rule Clarifications

Phase 3 is a race to the resources; no player has priority over the other.

If the last two standing players die at the same time, the person who is less dead wins! For example: if Player One has 5 life left, and Player Two has 3 life left, and they both take 8 damage, Player One would be at -3 and Player Two would be at -5. Therefore, Player One wins.

More than 30 Gold CAN be earned, but would need to be tracked carefully with pen and paper.

Once the Game Box is purchased, that becomes a permanent part of that player's Stockpile, just like other purchases.

Upgrade example: Say a player rolls 2 Swords, 3 Shields, 2 Gold, and they have an Attack upgrade of 3, a Defense upgrade of 4, and a Gold upgrade of 2. They would have an Attack value of 6, a Defensive value of 12, and would earn 8 Gold.

Note: the printed upgrade example is transcribed as printed; its figures are not reconciled against the upgrade wording above.

To play with 3 or more friends, or enemies, purchase extra sets; the same game rules apply.
