Investigation Sheet

In the previous cases, the detectives normally only had to determine the CULPRIT, the MURDER WEAPON and the MOTIVE. The 4 cases in this expansion require more complex solutions, so an additional block of Investigation sheets is included. When you are a detective in one of the 4 new cases, you need your existing Investigation sheet and additionally one sheet from the new Investigation sheet block. When you solve the case, enter your suppositions on this new Investigation sheet.

Additional Markers

The 3 additional Crime Scene markers and the 3 Event markers are needed for the case "The Murdering Crows".

The 2 Report markers are needed for the case "Best Served Cold".

After punching them out of the punchboard, keep the markers in the corresponding case boxes.

Variant: Kickback Cards

You can use this variant in the classic version to create thematic and unpredictable moments when a detective performs the Kickback action.

When a detective performs this action, they may choose whether to take the Scratch as usual or to reveal a Kickback card instead. Often the card gives more Scratch or other benefits, which creates interesting decisions. However, some cards give a smaller reward or no reward at all. Revealing a Kickback card is risky, but it creates interesting and thematic moments.

Gangster Gossip (card shown on the sheet): You overhear a couple of mobsters chatting about one of the suspects in the current case. They know you, so you buy them a few drinks and they tell you everything they know. They get free booze, and you get a hot tip that you can use to apply pressure. A classic win-win situation. Instead of receiving Scratch, you may receive 1 Leverage over a suspect of your choice.

Variant: Gambling

For this variant you need 2 ordinary six-sided dice (not included in the game).

When a detective performs the Kickback action at a Mob Joint (seedy location), they may choose whether to take the Scratch as usual or to try their luck at gambling. To gamble, they roll both dice and add their values together. The result modifies the normal Kickback payment as follows:

Total23456789101112
Modifierx2+2+1-2-1-1-2+1+1+2x2

Example: The detective would receive 4 Scratch, because a total of 3 detectives and the Chisel take part in this game. They decide to try their luck at gambling. They roll a "2" and a "6", which add up to "8". Therefore they receive only 2 Scratch (2 less than the normal amount). With a 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11 they could have received additional Scratch, and with a 2 or 12 they could even have doubled the original amount (to 8 Scratch)!

You can use both variants at the same time in the classic version. If a detective performs the Kickback action at a Mob Joint, they may choose to take the Scratch as usual, reveal a Kickback card, or try their luck at gambling.
