Material
- A game board - Format 480 X 480, folded into 4
- A swimming pool, two icecream stands, a pain in the neck
- Three mystery tokens
- Sixty barriers
- For each player: trailers (6, 4 or 2 according to the number of players) and a bungalow (18 trailers and 4 bungalows total).
Play
At the time of the annual opening of the famous campground, the tourists will try to occupy the most interesting sites. The organization of this particular campground is very free, but it is not the setting up of the tent which will cause the most difficulties but the neighbors. The goal is to reserve the greatest space but also being the best exposed site (close to the swimming pool, the icecream merchants and very far from the pain in the neck!).
Preparation
According to the number of players, provide with the following elements:
- 2 players: 6 trailers and 1 bungalow per player
- 3 players: 4 trailers and 1 bungalow per player
- 4 players: 2 trailers and 1 bungalow per player.
The surplus trailers and bungalows are returned to the box.
The Setup of the Campground
It is the rush for the good places. This part of the game is not alleviating. Even if nothing is yet really final, it is to better avoid the bad situations. You know how people are...
The first player is randomly selected. He places the swimming pool where he wishes in the campground. The three mystery tokens are also placed face down by another player after they are secretly mixed.
In turn, starting with the first player, each player will place his bungalow in the campground. One cannot place a bungalow beside the swimming pool or beside another bungalow. Once placed, bungalows will not move any more of the remainder of the game.
Each player, in turn, places one of his trailers and so on until all are setup in the campground. The trailers can be placed where you wish. Once that everyone is finished placing trailers, place small barriers between the trailers or the bungalows which have neighbors on the adjacent space. Each one at home! Do not place barriers between trailers or bungalows of the same colour.
Then one reveals the mystery tokens and replaces with their figurines. There are two good and one nasty surprises...
This Is My Home, and There Is My Home and There Too...
The vacationers are now setup, it now becomes necessary to mark off the sites and make their small paradise. In fact, not! Its a great paradise, within the dimensions of all the neighbors.
Each player goes, in his turn, to carry out 3 actions.
- Player moves
- Player encloses
- Player encloses (if! if! You quickly will include/understand!)
Player Moves
Each player has a freedom of movement of 2 spaces. You can move one or two of your trailers but also the "pain-in-the-neck".
A player can move 2 elements one space each or only one element 2 spaces.
Diagonal movements are not allowed.
One cannot touch the trailers of the other players.
If you wish not to move (because the weather is too hot for example) you have that right. On the other hand, you do not have the right to pass over the barriers, the property has been claimed.
And Thus a Player Encloses
Once a player has moved, he places barriers between the adjacent trailers and unfavourable bungalows. It is automatic, one does not even raise the question! Of course, if no new vicinity is created following your movement (or if you did not move), this phase place does not have to be.
And Thus a Player Still Encloses
To finish his turn in beauty, a player places a barrier where one wants, freely, anywhere in the camp-site. Almost where one wants, because it is illegal to create an empty site (without trailer and bungalow). The person in charge for the camp-site does not like the waste. He is also prohibited to place a barrier in a site that is finished and allotted to a vacationer.
A site is allotted to the one of the players as soon as it is completely enclosed and that there are only trailers (one or more) or bungalow of this player on the site. As soon as all your sites are finished, it is time to take the nap. You cannot move any more nor place new barriers (to even avenge).
End of the Game: Cicadas, Sighs and Squeakings of Teeth
Progressively, the sites are allotted to each player, with more or less of happiness. You can have as many sites as the number of trailers plus your bungalow. When everyone is been useful, it is time to evaluate the situation:
A site brings back as many points of victory than its surface area (the number of spaces). The site which contains the swimming pool doubles its value. The two sites which contains an icecream stand are worth 5 points more. The site which contains the bore of service loses 10 points (or counts for nothing if it were worth already less than 10 points). Was necessary to pay attention!
Each player then makes the sum of the values of all his sites. Obviously the most score carries the victory but it is surely most malicious...
Summary of the Play
- The swimming pool and the pawns mystery are placed.
- The bungalows are placed.
- The trailers are placed.
On ones turn, one moves and one encloses.
2 spaces of movement (nonobligatory). One can move his trailers and/or the pain-in-the-neck:
- 1 trailer 2 spaces
- 2 trailers 1 space
- 1 trailer 1 space and the pain-in-the-neck 1 space
- the pain-in-the-neck 2 spaces
A player places barriers between the new neighbors (obligatory).
A player almost places a barrier where they wants.
When all a players trailers and bungalow are surrounded, they are finished playing.
When everyone finished playing, the points are counted. For each area, to count in this order:
- 1 point by space.
- x2 with the swimming pool.
- +5 with the icecream stand.
- -10 with the pain-in-the neck (minimum 0)
One adds all his sites, the biggest score wins.
