Hero Cards
Captain of the Guard
Hero character card. Printed badges: a purple octagon with figures and the number 5, and a gold octagon with figures and the number 4.
Battle Steed: May spend multiple actions to travel on horseback (2 spaces) without discarding a Horse travel card. Roll 1 extra die in combat with enemy minions on the first attack roll at each location.
May not be used when attacking a General.
Military Strategist: When drawing Darkness Spreads Cards at the end of the Captain's turn, choose a color – the maximum number of minions that can be placed at locations of that color is 1.
Note: Purple may not be chosen.
Command: The Captain may give actions to other Heroes each turn. Spend 1 action to give 1 gold Action Token to another Hero to be used on their turn.
Note: These actions must be used and returned to the Captain prior to his next turn.
Adventurer
Hero character card. Printed badge: a purple octagon with figures and the number 5.
Friends in Low Places: When ending a turn in an Inn draw 1 extra Hero Card. Also, when seeking Rumors at the Inn, spend 1 action as normal and the Adventurer may choose 2 colors (rather than 1), keeping all Hero Cards that match the colors chosen as well as all Special (Purple) Cards.
Dungeon Delver: Add 1 extra die to the dice being rolled for any Quest Card resolution (non-combat) that requires the roll of dice.
Minor Quests: When the Adventurer ends her turn on a location with a Treasure Chest icon, roll 3 dice and gain 1 Hero Card for each 5 or 6 rolled.
Magic Pouch: The Adventurer may keep up to 14 Hero Cards in her hand.
Assassin
Hero character card. Printed badges: a purple octagon with figures and the number 5, and a blue octagon with the Assassin's portrait.
Sneak Attack: When attacking enemy minions for the first time, discard 1 minion prior to rolling the attack dice.
Note: This minion may be taken as part of a quest.
Deathblow: When in a group that is attacking a General, the Assassin may choose when she will attack. If an attack (group or solo Assassin) on the General falls 1 wound short of slaying the General, the Assassin gains an additional attack of 1 die, adding +1 to this final die result.
Shadow Walk: Spend the last action of the Assassin's turn to Shadow Walk and disappear into the shadows taking no wounds from minions in your location. Place the Vanished Token on the Assassin's location and remove the Assassin figure from the board. At the start of her next turn, the Assassin may be placed in any location within 3 spaces of her Vanished Token.
Chaos Wizard
Hero character card. Printed badge: a purple octagon with figures and the number 5.
Swiftness Spell: Spend 1 action and discard a Hero Card to move to any location matching the color of the discarded card.
Untamed Magic: Spend one action and draw the top Hero Card from the deck. If it is a location, make an attack on each minion and Hero there hitting on a 2+. If the defending Hero has armor the attack is blocked. If the Hero Card drawn is a Special (Purple) Card, add it to the Chaos Wizard's hand but suffer 1 wound. If a 2nd Special Card is drawn on the same turn using Untamed Magic, it does 2 wounds, and a 3rd Special Card would do 3 wounds – Untamed Magic is Dangerous!
Chaos Mana: When fighting in a location with a Tainted Crystal the Chaos Wizard may use Chaos Mana and add +1 to each die rolled. Any natural 1's rolled do 1 wound to each Hero on the location, including the Chaos Wizard.
Note: May be used in combat with Generals.
Paladin
Hero character card. Printed badge: a purple octagon with figures and the number 5.
Noble Steed: May spend an action to travel on horseback (2 spaces) without discarding a Horse travel card.
Bravery: If ending a turn in a location with Undead minions, do not suffer any penalties from Fear.
Aura of Righteousness: Ignore 1 wound from minions and Generals.
Card Notes
- The small octagonal badges on each card (a figure icon with a number, in purple or gold, and on some cards a portrait badge) are transcribed by their printed number and colour only. The card text does not explain them, and this transcription does not assign them a rule.
- Not included in this file: the six new Global Effects cards of this expansion, the card back, and any token rules. These were not available in the source.
