Objective
Your goal in Dedalo's is to be the first to escape the labyrinth. To do so you must open a path from the central space to an exit while preventing your rivals from achieving it before you. And, of course, dodging the fearsome Minotaur!

How to Play
Setup
- Place the entrance tile in the centre of the table.
- Each player chooses a tribute and places it on the entrance tile.
- Place the exits corresponding to the number of players 6 tiles away in a straight line from the entrance, following the table below (you can measure the distance by placing 5 tiles face down between the entrance and each exit).
| Players | Exits |
|---|---|
| 3 | 2 |
| 4 | 3 |
| 5/6 | 4 |
- Return the unused exits to the box and shuffle the rest of the tiles inside the bag, within reach of all players.
- Each player draws 3 tiles from the bag. The starting player is the player who lives farthest from home. In case of a tie, the starting player is the oldest.
Description of the Turn
During their turn each player may perform the following actions:
- Put a tile into play.
- Move their token 1 space.
- Push another player to an adjacent space.
In total each player must perform 3 actions, but in no case may all 3 be the same; that is, they may place two tiles and move one space, or place one tile and move two spaces, or move, push and place a tile, for example. The order of the actions is irrelevant.
As an alternative to these actions, a player may decide, as their only action during their turn, to discard the 3 tiles in their hand and draw 3 new tiles.
At the end of the turn the player takes from the bag the tiles needed to have 3 in hand again. Then the next player's turn begins, always proceeding clockwise.
Description of the Actions
1. Put a tile into play
To carry out this action you must put into play one of the 3 tiles in your hand. The tile must be placed continuing any open path. When placing the tile you may continue a path, open new paths or close another, since only one of the sides must match another open path and the rest may end against a wall.
Some tiles have the star symbol drawn on them. These tiles are special and may be placed on top of tiles already in play (in addition to continuing paths like normal tiles). To place the tile on top of one already built, it must have a greater number of stars and must continue a path in the same way as if it were placed in an empty position. Also, the tile you want to place the new one on must be empty, so if another player or you are on that tile you cannot place it.
There are tiles with one, two or even three stars, but the latter are very scarce as well as valuable.
2. Move
Advance your token one position in the direction you choose. There is no limit to the number of players who can be on the same tile.
If in your turn you perform this action twice, you cannot end on the same space where you were at the start of your turn unless you have replaced it with another tile.
3. Push
If you move to a tile where there are one or more players, or you are already on one, you may spend an action to push one of them. If you want to push more than one player you must spend one action per push, and at most two players can be pushed, in order to comply with the rule of not repeating the same action three times.
4. Discard tiles
If you decide to use this action it must be the only one you perform that turn.
The player who decides to use this action must discard all the tiles in their hand. They may not keep any in their hand. The discarded tiles are removed from the play area and are no longer available to be played.
This action may be the only possible option for a player if they cannot put into play any of the tiles in their hand.
5. Special rule: Being trapped in the labyrinth
When putting a tile into play you may trap a rival, or yourself, in a corridor. Whenever a tile is going to be put into play that would trap one or more players, it must be placed in such a way that those players are able, on their next turn, to make 2 valid movement actions within the corridor in which you trap them. If they cannot make the two moves, you cannot place the tile in that position.
End of the Game
The game ends the moment a player reaches one of the exit tiles during their turn. In this case the player who achieves it wins the game.
If all the tiles in the bag run out without any player successfully escaping the labyrinth, no player is the winner. In this case the winner is the Minotaur, who that night will feast on what is left of YOU.
Special Tiles
In addition to the tiles already discussed, there are two additional types of tiles in the game: collapses and Minotaur.
Collapses
Frustrate your rivals by collapsing the exit through which they were about to escape the labyrinth, or pray that they do not collapse the exit through which you are trying to escape.
Add a number of tiles equal to half the number of exits, always rounding down, and shuffle them together with the rest of the game tiles inside the bag.
If you have this tile in your hand you may use one of your actions to put it into play. Collapses are not placed continuing a path in play but are placed on top of an exit tile of the labyrinth. When a collapse is placed on an exit tile, it is blocked and no player can leave the labyrinth through that tile. Any player who intended to leave through this exit must turn around and find a different exit.
Minotaur
These tiles add tension to your games by bringing the Minotaur into play. Try to escape the labyrinth while avoiding being caught by the Minotaur.
Put the red and white Minotaur tiles together with the rest of the game tiles inside the bag. The only difference between the red and white tiles is that when the Minotaur has caught a player tribute, the red ones return to the bag while the white ones are discarded, removing them from the game.
Place the Minotaur figure next to the play area, within reach of all players.
If at the start of your turn you have in your hand one or more Minotaur tiles (regardless of colour) you are obliged to put them into play before performing any other action. Place the tile face up near the play area and put the Minotaur figure on the entrance of the labyrinth. At this very moment you must choose in which direction the Minotaur will move and move it in that direction as many positions as there are Minotaur tiles in play.
Once the Minotaur has been put into play and has finished its movement, draw from the bag as many tiles as you need to have 3 in hand again and continue your turn normally, performing the 3 actions of the basic rules.
1. Minotaur movement
From the moment the Minotaur enters play, at the start of each player's turn that player must move it as many positions as Minotaur tiles have been put into play. The movement must be in the same direction and heading as the previous player, and it can only be changed on reaching an intersection. When the Minotaur reaches an intersection, the player who at that moment has to move the Minotaur may decide which direction to take, but never go back the way it came.
In addition to the paths of the labyrinth created by the players, the Minotaur knows more passages than the players, so both the entrance tile and the 4-direction intersections have between them a series of passages along which the Minotaur can travel. In this way a player in their turn may decide that the Minotaur, if it is on the entrance or on a four-direction crossing, takes the direction of the passage and moves it to another four-direction crossing space, and vice versa. It must always be taken into account that the use of a passage counts as one movement.
If a player has a Minotaur tile in hand when the Minotaur is already in play, they are obliged to play it before making the monster's movement. When another Minotaur tile is put into play, the monster moves one more position per turn, and the player who put this tile into play may change the direction and heading in which it travels.
2. Minotaur attack
The Minotaur moves until it meets a player. At that moment the Minotaur figure and the player's token are removed from the labyrinth. In addition, the player caught by the Minotaur must return to the bag the tiles they had in hand. The red Minotaur tiles in play are returned to the bag, while the others are discarded to one side and do not return to the game.
On their next turn the player who has been caught by the Minotaur places their token on the entrance of the labyrinth again, draws 3 new tiles from the bag and passes the turn to the next player.
The Minotaur, like the players, can end up trapped between the corridors of the labyrinth. If there is no path available for the Minotaur to reach any player during a full round, it retires to its lair and the Minotaur tiles in play are returned to the bag.
