Components
- 8 special dice
- 55 cards (7 x 7 different goats and 6 wolves)
Short Overview
Each player tries to get rid of their hand cards as quickly as possible. To do so, they must repeatedly match the colours of the cards they have played by rolling dice. The player who first has no cards left wins the game.
Setup
- Shuffle all cards and deal each player 12.
- Place the remaining cards face down on the table as a draw pile.
- Determine a starting player by lot.
Turn Sequence
- The active player chooses at least 1 and at most 8 goat cards from their hand and places them face up on the table.
- They then roll all the dice. They may do this up to 3 times in total:
- If they roll the colour of one of their played goats with a die, they may place that die on the card with the matching colour. They may not roll dice that are lying on a card again.
- If the player rolls a wolf, they must set that die aside.
- If, after a roll (it does not matter whether it is the first, second or third), the player has placed a die on every one of their played goats, those goats have successfully hidden. Then place all played cards on the discard pile.
Example: the player plays 2 green and 2 blue goats and rolls the dice (picture 1). They roll 1 green, 2 blue, 3 red and 2 wolves (the wolves may not be rolled again, see below). They roll only the 3 red dice again (picture 2). They now roll 1 green and 2 red (picture 3). With this they have 2 green and 2 blue goats covered, matching the played cards (picture 4). They place these cards on the discard pile.
- If the player has not succeeded in matching the right combination after the third roll, they must take the played cards back into their hand and draw one extra card from the draw pile.
- If the player has set aside one or more wolves at the end of their turn after successfully hiding goats, they may offer 1 card from their hand, face down, to another player for each wolf they have set aside. If they do so, they may offer at most as many cards from their hand as the number of wolves set aside. A wolf may be among the offered cards.
- The other player then has 2 options:
- They take the offered cards and add them to their hand; or
- They play a wolf card from their hand (place it face up on the discard pile). They may then, on their turn, offer the cards (still face down) to another player. This may also be the player who offered them the cards.
- If a player, after their first or second roll, has already matched all of their played goats together, they may roll the dice again to try to collect extra wolves. However, remember that a player may roll the dice no more than 3 times in total.
- If a player has only wolf cards in hand at the start of their turn, they must reveal their cards to the other players. That player has then lost immediately! The other players continue playing until there is a winner.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player has no cards left in their hand. That player wins.
