Components

Per the box header of the Spanish sheet: one game board, 88 animal tokens (fichas de animales), 36 instruction cards (cartas con instrucciones), 6 pawns (peones), 2 special dice (dados especiales), and point cards (tarjetas de puntos).

Setup

A game director (director del juego) is chosen. The director is responsible for enforcing the hunting laws, handing out the captured animals, and dealing the instruction cards.

Each player receives a pawn (peón) and places it on the village square (plaza del pueblo), the starting point of the hunt.

Game System

The hunt begins in the village square. Each player may choose the path along which they wish to advance, and may enter the mountain paths (caminos de montaña) whenever they wish.

On their turn, each player rolls both dice and advances their pawn as many squares as there are points showing on the dice.

  • If one star (una estrella) appears when the two dice are rolled, the player advances as many squares as points rolled and then makes a shot. If they have stopped on a square where they could hunt an animal, they receive that animal as a prize for their shot. The turn then passes to the next player.
  • If two stars (dos estrellas) appear when the two dice are rolled, the roll is repeated.

Players may pass one another, but each square may hold only one pawn. If a player lands on a square already occupied by another player, they are placed on the square immediately before it.

The Board Squares

Hunting Squares (Las casillas de caza)

These are the squares that mark an animal. When a player, after rolling the two dice, lands on such a square and makes a shot, they receive the animal as a prize for their aim.

When the specimens of an animal are used up, that animal is protected to prevent its extinction: from that moment on, every player who shoots at that animal receives the points printed for it instead. For example, the game contains only three ermines (armiños). Once those three ermines have been caught, a player who shoots from a square marking an ermine receives 10 points.

The falcon (halcón) is a bird whose hunting is regulated to prevent its extinction. If a player shoots from the falcon's square, to receive a specimen they must be in possession of a special Hunting Licence (Licencia de Caza especial). This licence is among the group of instruction cards.

Gaps in This Source

The printed sheet ends after the falcon paragraph. It does not contain the following, which the original rules place in the 36 instruction cards or the point cards and which are not reproduced here:

  • How the shot is resolved beyond the prize rule above, and the content of the instruction cards.
  • The contents of the hunting licence card and the other instruction cards.
  • The point cards (tarjetas de puntos), scoring, and the end-of-game condition.
  • Any further rules for the mountain paths beyond the one sentence on the Game System.

Nothing has been added from other editions or from other games. A companion Portuguese rules sheet for Zoo Safari (a different publisher's reskin) was not used as a source for these rules.
