Heroes

Antigone

Military Power. When Antigone takes part in a battle, if the die shows "0", count it as "3".

Sacrificial Power. Discard Prosperity tokens showing 3 Cornucopias in total from one or more Land or Sea Areas you control, to build a Metropolis.

Achilles

Military Power. If your opponent loses a stage of a battle, they must immediately retreat, if possible; otherwise all their Troops and Heroes are destroyed.

Sacrificial Power. Build 2 basic Buildings of your choice on 2 empty building sites in one Land Area you control.

If one of your Land Areas does not have enough empty building sites, you must destroy one or two of your basic Buildings in that Area in order to build the resulting buildings.

Hippolyta

Military Power. Each of your Ports and each of your Fortresses in a Land Area where a land battle involving Hippolyta takes place has the properties of both a Port and a Fortress at the same time. The same applies during a sea battle in a Sea Area adjacent to the Land Area where Hippolyta is. These properties count only for determining Battle Strength and cannot be used to build a Metropolis.

Sacrificial Power. If you control 2 Heroes in addition to Hippolyta, build a Metropolis.

Leto

Military Power. Even if you have chosen Apollo, Leto can still make a Heroic Move by paying the corresponding cost, or use her Sacrificial Power.

Sacrificial Power. If you control 2 Mythological Creatures placed on the game board, build a Metropolis.

Penelope

Military Power. During a battle in a Sea Area adjacent to the Land Area where Penelope is, you gain +2 to your Battle Strength.

Sacrificial Power. If you control 6 Sea Areas, build a Metropolis.

Pericles

Military Power. Any Heroic Move made by Pericles costs 1 GP.

Example. A player makes the 3rd Heroic Move with Pericles and pays 1 GP instead of the standard 3 GP. The next Heroic Move with Pericles will also cost 1 GP, and a Heroic Move with another Hero will cost 4 GP.

Sacrificial Power. If all 8 of your basic Troops are on the game board, build a Metropolis.

Note. If a Hero's Sacrificial Power allows you to build a Metropolis, place the Metropolis token on an empty building site in an Area you control. If there is no suitable empty site, you must remove one of your basic Buildings and build the Metropolis in its place.

Heracles

Military Power. When Heracles moves through an Area where a Creature is, or stops in such an Area, he destroys that Creature. The Creature's miniature is removed from the game board, and the Creature card is placed under the Heracles card.

Note. If a Creature was placed in an Area where Heracles is, it is not destroyed. When Heracles leaves such an Area, the Creature is also not destroyed. Only moving Heracles into an Area with a Creature results in its destruction.

Sacrificial Power. If at least 2 Creature cards lie under the Heracles card, build a Metropolis.

Note. When the Heracles card is placed in the discard pile, the Creature cards under it are discarded as well.

Metropolis Bonuses

The expansion's 9 Metropolis tokens carry these three bonuses, 3 tokens for each bonus (see Components).

Reserve a Mythological Creature

Place one of your Control tokens on the card of any Creature of your choice on the Fate board. Only you can buy this Creature while its card remains on the Fate board.

Build a basic Building

Take any basic Building from the general reserve and place it on an empty building site in a Land Area you control.

Gain a basic Troop and a Fleet

Take 1 of your basic Troops and 1 of your Fleets and place them in any Areas you control (they do not have to be in the Area where the Metropolis was built, or in an adjacent Area).

Components

  • 14 miniatures with stands (7 Hero miniatures and 7 Mythological Creature miniatures)
  • 7 Hero cards
  • 13 Mythological Creature cards (some of them with miniatures)
  • 9 Metropolis tokens (3 each of 3 different bonuses)

Mythological Creatures

Hippalectryon

Exchange 2 of your mercenary Troops for 1 Prosperity token, or for 1 Priestess card, or for 1 Philosopher card, returning those Troops to the general reserve. Place the Prosperity token you received with its 1-Cornucopia side up in any Area of your choice.

You may make this exchange any number of times, as long as you have mercenary Troops.

Note. Hippalectryon's ability can be applied to mercenary Troops located in an Area with Medusa. An exchange of Troops is not considered destruction, so it does not allow Geryon to accumulate GP.

Hippocampus

Exchange any number of your Fleets in 1 Sea Area you control for the same number of mercenary Troops from the general reserve. Place the received Troops in 1 or more Land Areas you control, and return the exchanged Fleets to your personal reserve.

Note. An exchange of Fleets is not considered destruction, so it does not allow Geryon to accumulate GP.

Echidna

Steal 1 Creature card from another player and place it in front of your Screen. Then you may move the corresponding Creature miniature to any Area (Land or Sea) indicated on the Creature card as valid.

Manticore

Destroy 1 Creature or 1 Hero of your choice. The destroyed miniature is returned to the general reserve, and the card is placed in the corresponding discard pile.

Note. Manticore can destroy a Hero located in the Area with Medusa, but her ability is completely blocked by Chiron.

Triton

Steal 1 basic Building token from another player and place it on an empty building site in any Land Area you control. If you have no suitable empty building site, you MUST destroy one of your basic Buildings in order to build the stolen building.

Empusa

Perform again the free mandatory actions of the god to whom you made an Offering in the current Cycle.

Erinyes

Move 1 Prosperity token (with its 1-Cornucopia side) to any other Land or Sea Area. The token being moved may belong to any player.

Note. If the chosen token lies with its 2-Cornucopia side up, first replace it with 2 tokens with 1 Cornucopia each, and then move one of those tokens.

Creatures with Miniatures

Geryon

Place this Creature in a Land Area.

Each time any basic Troop, mercenary Troop or Fleet of any player is destroyed, place 1 GP from the general reserve in the Area where Geryon is. In the "2. Income" phase, the player who controls the Area where the GP lie takes them into their personal reserve. When Geryon is moved, the GP remain in place.

Note. When executing the Graeae ability, a player receives the GP accumulated by Geryon if they control the Area in which they lie.

Nereid

Place this Creature in a Sea Area.

While you control this Creature, during the "2. Income" phase the income of the Area where the Nereid is located is received by you, not by the player who controls that Area.

Note. The Nereid's ability applies when executing the Graeae ability.

Calydonian Boar

Place this Creature in a Land Area. This Area is now unreachable for Heroes and Troops of players. Neither Heroes nor Troops may be in an Area with this Creature, move into it by any means, or move through it.

The player who controls the Area with the Calydonian Boar also cannot place recruited Troops and Heroes in that Area.

If Heroes or Troops are in the Area, the player who controls the Calydonian Boar moves them into 1 adjacent Area (a distant reachable Area cannot be chosen), so as not to cause a land battle (with the Troops or the Minotaur of another player). Control of the Area remains with the player whose Troops left it. Such a move is possible into an Area where only another player's Control token is located; in that case the player whose Troops moved gains control of the Area. If the move is impossible, the Heroes and Troops are destroyed. In that case, basic Troops return to their owner's personal reserve, mercenary Troops return to the general reserve, Hero miniatures also return to the general reserve, and the corresponding cards are placed in the discard pile.

Scylla and Charybdis

Place these Creatures in 2 different Sea Areas. These 2 Sea Areas count as adjacent for your Fleets. A player may move their Fleets from the Area with Charybdis into the Area with Scylla, and vice versa, and the Fleets located in these Areas form a chain along which the player's Troops and Heroes may move.

Typhon

Place this Creature in a Sea Area.

All basic Buildings built on the border with the Sea Area where Typhon is placed lose their properties and cannot be used to build a Metropolis.

Metropolises built on the border with the Sea Area where Typhon is located also lose their properties (Port, Fortress and Temple), but still count for determining the winner.

Note. Typhon's property does not affect buildings and Metropolises unless they are located directly on the border with the Sea Area where Typhon is placed.

Chiron

Place this Creature in a Land Area.

Other players cannot move Creatures into the Area with Chiron, and cannot choose this Area, or anything located in it (Chiron, Prosperity tokens, Troops, etc.), as a target for Creature abilities.
