Overview

The goal of the game is to own several casinos forming a set defined by their symbols or colors. You can acquire casinos in two ways. If they are still free, you buy them from the bank. If another player owns them, it is up to you to ruin that owner in a game of chance. It is enough to bet more money than the owner has. Take your chances, and know when to take risks thanks to the "Bluff" cards. A player who holds a winning combination of casinos must still complete a full lap of the game board. During that lap, his opponents will do everything they can to strip him of some of his casinos.

Setup

Remove the jokers from the deck of playing cards. Place the deck of playing cards and the "Bluff" cards next to the game board, in two separate face-down piles. Shuffle the "Casino" cards well. Set up the roulette wheel. Determine the player who will act as banker. This player manages the chips.

Each player receives:

  • 1 pawn
  • 2,000,000 in chips
  • 1 "Bluff" card (after shuffling, the cards are dealt face down)
  • 2 "Casino" cards (also shuffled and dealt face down; you may start with 1 casino, but the game will then last longer)

Players place their pawn on one of the casinos on the board whose matching card they hold. The remaining "Casino" cards are turned face up, so that players can see which casinos are still for sale.

Object of the Game

The first player to own a set of casinos defined by the number of players AND to have completed a full lap of the board wins the game.

The casino set to own depends on the number of players:

  • 3 players: 4 casinos bearing the same symbol (4 casinos marked with the roulette symbol, or 4 marked with a die, or 4 marked with a card)
  • 4, 5 or 6 players: 3 casinos bearing the same symbol (3 casinos marked with the roulette symbol, or 3 with a die, or 3 with a card), OR 3 casinos of the same color (for example 3 blue casinos)

Playing the Game

The player who rolls the highest total on the dice begins. You play by rolling both dice and moving your pawn clockwise. The spaces are numbered. After landing on a space, look up the matching number in the section below to follow the instructions. When you roll a double, play your turn normally, then roll the dice again and play again. When you play roulette and the "zero" comes up, disregard that result and spin the wheel again.

The Spaces

The numbers on the spaces make it easy to find what each one means. The spaces show, by means of symbols, the procedure to follow. In most cases, you will take part in a game of chance.

Red symbols on the game board mean that a payment must be made (or something must be acquired); green symbols mean receive. You must always make your payments to the pot in the middle of the game board.

1. Cash & Run

You place yourself on a space of your choice. For example, you may place yourself on the space of a casino that is still free, or on the casino of another player, in order to ruin that player, or you may go to the "Bluff" space to buy a "Bluff" card. However, if you are making your last lap of Cash & Run (see below), none of the above applies and nothing happens.

2. Casino

If you land on a casino that does not yet belong to a player, you may acquire it for 100,000. Place this amount in the pot in the middle of the board and in exchange receive the casino card as your title of ownership.

If you land on a casino that you own, you must roll the dice again.

If you land on another player's casino, you must play a game of chance against its owner. The casino space indicates whether it is a "roulette casino", a "dice casino" or a "playing card casino". It is up to you to decide the amount wagered. Place your chips on the game of your choice.

In "roulette casinos", the player chooses one of the following three games:

  1. RED or BLACK. Payout: x 1 + stake. The player chooses a color. One of his opponents spins the roulette wheel. If the chosen color comes up, the player has won.
  2. TWELVE NUMBERS (1 to 12, 13 to 24, 25 to 36). Payout: x 2 + stake. The player chooses one of the groups of 12 numbers. An opponent then spins the roulette wheel. If the number that comes up is among his 12 numbers, the player has won.
  3. SIX NUMBERS (1 to 6, 7 to 12, 13 to 18, 19 to 24, 25 to 30, 31 to 36). Payout: x 5 + stake. The player chooses one of the groups of 6 numbers. An opponent then spins the roulette wheel. If the number that comes up is among his 6 numbers, the player has won.

In "dice casinos", the following three games are offered:

  1. ODD or EVEN. Payout: x 1 + stake. Before rolling the die only once, the player chooses odd or even numbers. If the result matches the call, the player has won.
  2. TWO NUMBERS. Payout: x 2 + stake. Before rolling the die only once, the player chooses two numbers on the die. If he obtains one of the two chosen numbers, he has won.
  3. ONE NUMBER. Payout: x 5 + stake. Before rolling the die only once, the player chooses one number on the die. If the chosen number comes up, the player has won.

In "playing card casinos", the player chooses one of the following three games:

  1. RED or BLACK. Payout: x 1 + stake. The cards are shuffled, the player chooses a color, red or black, and draws a card. If he draws a card of the chosen color, he has won.
  2. JACK, QUEEN, KING or ACE. Payout: x 2 + stake. The cards are shuffled. The player wins if he draws any one of these cards.
  3. SUIT. Payout: x 3 + stake. The cards are shuffled. The player chooses hearts, diamonds, spades or clubs. If the card drawn matches the call, the player wins.

If you win the game, you keep your stake and the owner of the casino pays the stake x 1, x 2 or x 5 (x 3 for playing cards) according to the game chosen.

If you lose, you hand your stake over to the owner of the casino.

TIP: If the owner of the casino does not have enough money to pay your winnings, he must sell at auction the casino in which you are standing. See the procedure below. If, even with the sale proceeds, this player is still unable to pay, he must sell at auction another casino, until he can pay his debt. See also "Bankruptcy".

The owner of the casino must announce how much money he has before you place your stake. If he would have to pay more than he has, you force him to sell his casino at auction. But beware! The loser of a game of chance may play a "Bluff" card...

3. Bluff

If you land on a "Bluff" space, you may buy a "Bluff" card. They cost 100,000 and the chips must be placed in the pot in the middle of the game board. Your opponents may under no circumstances see your "Bluff" cards.

You may hold a maximum of three "Bluff" cards. If you land on a "Bluff" space and already hold three cards, you still have the option of buying one, on condition that you exchange it for one of your cards. The exchanged card is placed at the bottom of the pile.

"Bluff" cards are very important. Thanks to them, you can replay a game that you have lost.

Both the bettor and the owner of the casino may use a "Bluff" card to replay a lost game.

"Bluff" cards are either entirely white, or marked with a deck of playing cards, a die, or a roulette wheel. A "Bluff" card is only valid if the symbol of the game in progress appears on the card. You may nevertheless always resort to bluffing, that is, act as if the symbol of the game in progress really did appear on your "Bluff" card!

Here is how to do it:

You have lost a game. You choose a card from your "Bluff" cards and place it face down in front of the winner:

  • If the winner accepts the card, that is, if he thinks the corresponding symbol appears on the card, you replay for the same stake. The "Bluff" card is placed under the pile without being shown. And if you lose again, you may play another "Bluff" card! You may repeat this operation until you have none left.
  • If the winner does not accept the card, he turns it over. If the corresponding symbol does appear on the card, you have won the game. You receive your payout, and the card is placed under the pile. It is not possible to replay with a "Bluff" card.
  • If the corresponding symbol does NOT appear on the card (you were bluffing), you have lost the game and must pay. The "Bluff" card is placed under the pile, and it is impossible to play a new "Bluff" card.

4A, 4B AND 4C: WIN THE POT

Payments made to acquire casinos and "Bluff" cards, as well as those required by the "Buy Back" space (7) in the amount of 100,000, are placed in the middle of the game board, in the pot. A player landing on the "Win the Pot" space (4) must win a game in order to collect the whole pot.

  • Space 4A. Roulette: The player chooses a group of 12 numbers. He wins if the number that comes up is within the chosen series.
  • Space 4B. Dice: The player chooses two numbers on the die and wins if the result matches one of the two chosen numbers. He may roll the die only once.
  • Space 4C. Cards: The cards are shuffled. The player wins if he draws an Ace, a King, a Queen or a Jack.

5A, 5B, 5C: EVERYBODY PLAYS

If a player lands on one of these spaces, all players spin the roulette wheel (5A), roll a die (5B) or draw a card (5C). The player with the highest score receives 500,000 from the bank.

If the bank does not have enough money to pay, the player with the lowest score must make up the difference, even if this means selling his casinos.

On the "Everybody Plays" space, "Bluff" cards cannot be used.

6. GRAND SLAM

If you land on this space, you may collect 100,000 from the bank OR attempt, in three steps, to receive 1,000,000.

You must complete the steps in the correct order. You may stop at any time to collect your winnings, but if you fail, you lose the money gained and must pass the turn.

  • Step 1: For 250,000, obtain an even number on the die.
  • Step 2: For 500,000, draw a red card.
  • Step 3: For 1,000,000, obtain an odd number on the roulette wheel.

If the bank has no money left, nothing happens.

7A, 7B OR 7C: BUY BACK

On a "Buy Back" space, you may issue a challenge to a player of your choice and play to try to take one of his casinos. There is only one condition: you must own at least one casino.

Choose the casino for which you wish to play. Pay 100,000 to the pot before playing. If you win, the casino belongs to you. If you lose, your opponent takes one of your casinos.

Warning! The loser may use "Bluff" cards.

  • 7A Roulette: Choose ODD or EVEN and spin the roulette wheel.
  • 7B Dice: Choose ODD or EVEN and roll the die.
  • 7C Cards: Choose RED or BLACK and draw a card.

Auctions

When it is your turn to play, or when you are no longer able to pay your debts, you may sell one or more casinos at auction. The casino goes to the highest bidder. The minimum bid is 100,000. If no player is interested, the bank buys the casino for 50,000.

Warning! A creditor has the right to use his credit to make his bid!

During a Cash & Run lap, only players without money may sell their property at auction.

Bankruptcy

If you cannot pay a gambling debt (also applies to the "Everybody Plays" space), or you are unable to place a stake during a visit to another player's casino, you must sell one of your casinos at auction. If the auction sale of a casino does not allow you to repay your debts, you must then sell a second casino, and so on. If, despite selling all of your casinos, you still cannot repay your debts, you are bankrupt.

The remaining debts are cancelled, your pawn leaves the board, and you are no longer part of the game.

The Final Cash & Run Lap

As soon as a player has obtained a winning casino combination, he may begin his final Cash & Run lap:

If it is your turn, announce "Cash & Run". Shuffle the cards and draw one.

  • If it is a spade, you pass the turn, with the possibility of trying your luck again on the next turn.
  • For the other suits, move your pawn to the nearest "Cash & Run" space. You place your casino combination on the "Cash & Run" space of the board. You are now ready to begin your final lap.

It is the next player's turn. During your final lap, the other players try to seize your winning casinos. This is possible if they land on the "Buy Back" space and ruin you, forcing you to resort to auctions.

[Illustration labels on p. 14: 5A, 5B, 5C.]

You win the game if you complete a full lap and you still hold your winning combination. During a Cash & Run lap, if you roll a double or land on one of your own casinos, you do not play again!

If you lose a casino from your combination during the final lap, the Cash & Run lap ends immediately. The other cards of the combination are removed from the board and placed in front of you. If you later again hold a winning combination, you will try your luck again.

The player who first completes his Cash & Run lap wins the game.
