Components

  • 80 tiles, 4 sets (with 20 pieces each) in different colors
  • 4 game boards that show the kitchen from above
  • 1 rulebook

Goal

Form passages in the CUCINA CURIOSA by placing tiles. The goal is to reach lobsters from the entrance while avoiding bones.

Preparations

Before the first game, carefully remove the tiles from their frames.

Each player receives their own game board and places it kitchen side up.

Sort the 80 tiles according to the color on the back. Each player takes a set of 20 tiles in one of the four colors.

The oldest player shuffles their tiles and places them face down in a stack. Each other player forms an open supply in front of them with all their tiles face up.

Because the CUCINA CURIOSA only has room for 16 tiles, not all 20 tiles will be used in a game.

How to Play

The players put their kitchen in order. Each player draws the same tile from the set and places it on their game board.

Reveal Tiles

The oldest player reveals the top tile and shows it to all other players. The other players retrieve the exact same tile from their supplies.

Warning! Some tiles look very similar to each other. It is important that all players take the same tile!

Place Tiles

Each player places the newly selected tile on one of the open spaces of their game board. Observe the following rules:

  • The tile must be placed on one of the 16 spaces of your game board. It must not overlap other spaces.
  • The tile cannot be placed on a space that already has a tile.
  • The tile need not be adjacent to an existing tile!
  • The tile can be rotated as desired. The passages do not need to be continued; open passages can adjoin blocked lines.

End of the Game

The game ends after 16 tiles have been placed, and so all kitchens are complete.

Scoring

The 16 tiles in the CUCINA CURIOSA have now created passages through which lobsters can be caught. Each player counts their points.

Each lobster that a player can access from the entrance through an uninterrupted passage earns 1 point.

Every point represents a guest who will leave the COSTA CURIOSA satisfied!

But be careful! Each fish bone that a player can access from the entrance through an uninterrupted passage costs 2 points.

The lobsters and bones printed on the game boards also count for points.

The player with the most points wins!

In the event of a tie, the winners share victory.

Rules for 1 Player

The player tries to get as many points as possible. At the end, each lobster on the four unused tiles also earns 1 point.
