Goal of the Game
Form a square of 4 balls of your own colour on one of the 6 faces of the cube (see fig. 1).
Two-Player Game
Setup
All balls are removed from the cube.
Each player chooses a colour. The balls of the third colour are neutral.
Playing the Game
The first player is chosen at random.
The opponent places the 9 neutral balls freely in the cube (see fig. 2).
Then the first player introduces one of their balls into the cube, the opponent does the same, and so on.
Introducing a New Ball
A ball may only be introduced into a cell on the edge of the cube. It may push 1 or 2 other balls, but no more: when a ball is introduced, it is therefore forbidden to eject another ball (see fig. 3).
Modifying a Complete Line
Instead of introducing a new ball, a player may choose to change the order of a complete line: they push the first ball to eject the third, which they immediately place in the empty space (see fig. 4).
On the following turn, a player may not make the exact reverse of the move that was just made.
Once all the balls have been introduced, players only make line modifications.
End of the Game
The first player to form a square of 4 balls of their own colour on one face of the cube wins. A square can be formed in 3 different ways (see fig. 1).
If a square of the opponent's colour appears at the same time, the opponent wins.
Three-Player Game
Playing the Game
The rules and the goal of the game are identical, except that there are no neutral balls.
Each player chooses a colour and takes the 9 balls of that colour. The first player is chosen at random, and play then proceeds clockwise. Each player in turn either introduces a ball of their colour (see fig. 3) or modifies the order of a complete line (see fig. 4).
End of the Game
The first player to form a square of 4 balls of their own colour on one face of the cube wins. If a square of another player's colour appears at the same time, the opponent concerned wins.
