1. Components

24 Ingredient (Filling/Bread) Cards:

  • 3x Avocado
  • 3x Cheese
  • 3x Egg
  • 3x Ham
  • 3x Salad
  • 3x Salmon
  • 4x White
  • 1x Brown
  • 1x Sesame

5x Action Tokens

8x Order Tokens

5x Dietary Tokens

2. Setup

  1. Shuffle the six filling cards with this style filling icon and randomly select one for each player. Return the rest to the box.
  2. Randomly select two more of the other filling cards. Exactly one filling must be the same type as the card chosen in Step 1.
  3. Shuffle these cards and place them in a pile with the Orders showing to form your Queue.
  4. Place the remaining ingredients in matching piles to form the Counter.
  5. Leave space for each player's Prep Area (play area) and the Pantry (discard pile).
  6. Place the tokens in piles within reach.

3. Co-operative Setup

Follow Solo Setup with these changes:

  1. Each player randomly selects one more filling of the same type as the card chosen in Step 1.
  2. Divide the remaining fillings into two sets of three matching piles and place one set in front of each player to form their Counters. The bread cards are shared between them.

(The source shows an Example Co-operative Setup illustration here.)

4. Order Cards

Each order card shows (as labelled in the source's diagram): the Filling Type (on the reverse), the Difficulty Rating, the Customer Quirk, the Customer Order and the Sandwich(es) the customer wants.

5. Rounds

  • A round lasts for five actions or until all players have served a sandwich.
  • Players may take one of the three actions available. These actions can be repeated any number of times.
  • When taking an action, set an action token aside (or next to the action taken (bread, filling, pantry, etc.)) to track your spent actions.
  • If all players have served a sandwich, reset your actions and begin a new round. Otherwise the game ends.

CO-OP PLAY:

  • Actions are taken simultaneously.
  • Each player may take a different action from their colleague.

6. Actions

Assemble - Place any number of a single ingredient (bread/fillings) from your counter onto a sandwich in your prep area (Example 1 & 2).

CO-OP PLAY: You may also place any number of that ingredient onto your colleague's counter.

Restock - Return any number of a single ingredient (bread/fillings) from the pantry to your counter (Example 3).

CO-OP PLAY: Your counter may have more than your starting fillings.

Toast - Flip any number of uncovered bread in your prep area to their toasted side (Example 4).

7. Making Sandwiches

  • A player may make any sandwich from the leftmost incomplete customer order and its adjacent order.
  • When assembling bread, you may choose any type of bread from the pile, not just the top card.
  • Bread is always assembled untoasted and always returns to the pantry or counter untoasted.
  • Fillings don't need to match the positions displayed in the orders. They must still be placed between the bread as shown on the order.
  • Only the top bread (or bottom if an open sandwich) must match the bread shown on the order.
  • Only the top bread (or bottom if an open sandwich) needs to be toasted if the order requires it.

8. Serving Sandwiches

When a completed sandwich matches a customer order it is served immediately. Place the used ingredients in the pantry and place an order token over the sandwich (Example 5 & 6). Then take a free restock action for each sandwich served.

CO-OP PLAY: After serving a sandwich, restock all bread as an additional free action.

9. Completing Orders

  • When a customer order has been completed, remove the order tokens from each sandwich and place one over the customer portrait.
  • When you have only one incomplete customer order remaining, reveal the order card below your current card and add it to your queue.

10. Game End & Ranking

All players lose if they have no actions remaining and at least one player failed to serve an outstanding sandwich that round.

All players win if all order cards in queues are completed. Total the difficulty ratings of all completed order cards for your ranking:

RatingRanking
6-7Loafing Around
8-9Bread Head
10-11Sandwich Artist
12+Earl of Sandwiches

During setup you may choose any combination of order cards for a specific difficulty instead of randomly determining them, as long as you have the correct number of fillings available on your counter during the game (one of each filling type used in your queue, two of everything else).

11. Quirky Customers

Quirky Customers are customers that have additional requirements with their orders. These are optional rules that you can use to add an extra challenge to your games of Crumbs!.

Each order card includes one Quirky Customer, identifiable by symbols adjacent to the customer portrait (see Section 4).

Add 1 to your total rating when calculating ranking of a game using Quirky Customers.

Dietary Diner (filling symbols) - Once you begin preparing sandwiches for this customer, you may not use fillings of this type in any sandwiches until that customer's order is complete. Place a Dietary token over that filling as a reminder.

Particular Patron (! symbol) - This customer's fillings must be assembled in the exact order displayed.

Speedy Serving - After you serve this customer for the first time, you must serve them at least one sandwich each round until their order is complete.

Stock Shortage - When this customer is revealed, remove a random card in the pantry from the game. If this would leave no cards of that type in the game, remove another random card instead. If there are no cards in the pantry, remove a random card from your counter.
