Game Components

Needed for play:

  • 1 Planting Tray
  • 1 Six-sided Dice
  • 48 Objective Cards
  • 7 Corn Tokens
  • 7 Bean Tokens
  • 7 Soybean Tokens

Preparation (Setup)

Place in the center of the table the Planting Tray and create piles with the tokens of each type of crop, which will be called reserve, next to it. Shuffle the Objective Cards and give three cards to each player. Then place the remaining cards on a deck next to the board. Put the dice on the table so that it is within reach of all players. (See example below.)

Sequence of Play

The last player to have planted anything is the first to play. The game is done in turns and moves in the right direction. The player needs to have the crop tiles on the board positioned in the same pattern as on the Objective cards to score points. The pattern on the Objective card can be completed in any direction, but it cannot be completed in the mirrored form.

Player Turn

The turn of each player follows the following sequence:

  1. ROLL THE DICE: The player rolls a dice and sees what event happens this turn. Each event generates a different advantage during that turn (see Events).

  2. ADD NEW CROP: The player places a crop token of their choice in the planting tray and uses the advantage provided by the die, if desired.

  3. CHECK OBJECTIVES: If the player has made a sequence of three or more crops equal vertically, horizontally or diagonally, they pull out another Objective card. To complete this sequence, they can use at most one crop token of an already-made sequence.

  4. SCORING COMPLETED OBJECTIVES: After that, any player (even if it is not their turn) can announce that they have completed one or more objectives by placing the cards on the table face down. After all players place their cards on the table, they reveal the objectives at the same time, check them (completed objectives on the same turn may have common crops) and place the completed cards in front of them. Each card counts as one point.

  5. HARVEST: All the crop tokens that were used to score are harvested (removed from the board).

  6. REST OF THE LAND: If two types of crop tokens have been depleted from the reserve, all the tokens are removed from the board.

Winning the Game

The game ends when a player gets enough points to win the match, according to the number of players:

  • 2 Players: 9 Points
  • 3 Players: 7 Points
  • 4 Players: 5 Points

In case of a tie, the one who had less goals in the hand, wins. If the tie persists, the players divide the win.

Events

Below are described the special effects that each face of the dice gives to the player on their turn. The use of this effect is optional and the player only uses it if they wishes.

  • Corn Seed Offer: If you play a corn token in your move, you can place another corn token in an adjacent area*.
  • Bean Seed Offer: If you play a bean token in your move, you can place another bean token in an adjacent area*.
  • Soybean Seed Offer: If you play a soybean token in your move, you can place another soybean token in an adjacent area*.
  • Abundant Labor: You can, in your move, place a new token in an occupied space. The crop token that was in that space is removed from the tray.
  • Fire on the Plantation: When you place a crop token on your move, you can remove another crop token from the tray in an adjacent area.
  • Extreme Investment: You can choose from any of the other advantages provided by the dice (but you can only use one of them).

*An adjacent area is considered to be any area around the area and the play has been made and may be on the same line, in the same column or diagonally.
