- 1 Player Board
- 4 Ratings Markers
- 4 Executives
- 30 Rails
- 1 Train Engine Tile
- 8 Train Car Tiles
Setup
Action Tiles
- Shuffle all 16 action tiles, and randomly place them face up in a 4x4 grid within reach of all players to create the action grid.
- Place the first player marker on the Draw Cards action tile with the first player marker icon.
Resort Card Display
- Place the resort card display board within reach of all players.
- Shuffle all 84 resort cards, and place them face down in the resort card deck space near the resort card display board.
- Deal eight cards from the deck face up onto the eight spaces of the resort card display board.
- Place the round tracker on the dinosaur footprint labeled "1."
Player
Each player chooses a company. There is no substantial difference between the companies for gameplay purposes, so choose a company based on the way it looks! Each company gets:
- 1 Player board
- 4 executives
- 30 rails
- 1 train engine Tile (the train engine tile is just for show)
- 8 train car Tiles
- Place the train engine in front of your player board, and place 2 train cars behind it, forming a train. Place the remaining 6 train car tiles off to one side of your player board.
- Draw 1 card at random from the resort card deck and add it to your hand.
- Place the remaining train cars, 30 rails, and 4 executives off to one side within reach.
- Take the tourist, dinosaur, and jungle token indicated by the icons on your player board, and place them on their respective icons on your player board.
- Place the remaining tourists in the tourist sack.
- Place the rating star of the matching color on each star outline on the rating track on your player board.
Map Setup
- Place the starting map tile for the appropriate player count (either the 1, 2, and 4 player tile, or the 3-player tile) in the center of the table within reach of all players.
- Place 1 randomly-selected jungle map tile per player along with the starting map tile to form the map.
- For your first game, use the setup depicted in the printed rulebook, depending on player count.
Once you're comfortable with the rules of the game, you can vary the map setup.
Always use the starting map tile for the appropriate player count along with 1 jungle map tile per player. In reverse turn order, starting with the last player, each player places 1 jungle map tile in any position connected to already placed tiles. Use this method to create a different map each game.
Alternatively, you can randomly place map tiles in any configuration. Never place any part of a map tile on the home hex side of this line.
- Place one jungle token on each hex marked with a jungle token icon. The 2 hexes marked with the two-person icon only get a jungle token in 2-player games.
- Place a matching dinosaur miniature on each hex marked with a dinosaur icon. Each tile has two each of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Titanosaurus, and Parasaurolophus.
- Randomly place 4 tourists from the Tourist Sack on each cabin hex and each player's home hex.
- In a 1-2 player game, only use the 2 middle home hexes marked with the two-person icon on the 1, 2, and 4 player starting map tile.
Choosing Turn Order and Starting Positions
- The last player to have seen, heard, or felt a train goes first. Play will proceed clockwise from that player.
- In reverse turn order, starting with the last player, select home hexes on the starting map tile.
- When you select a home hex, place two rails on the starting map tile. Place the first rail on the line pointing out of your chosen home hex, and the second rail on the line going to the left or right in front of the first rail.
HINT: Choose your home hex based on the dinosaurs and volcanoes near it, the tourists on it, and your plans for building your rail network into the jungle.
Gameplay
- Cretaceous Rails is played over four rounds, and each player gets four turns per round.
- Starting with the first player, take turns in clockwise order.
- Each turn, place an executive on an action space between two action tiles in the action grid, in a space that doesn't already have an executive, and take both actions adjacent to the executive you just placed.
Place your executives in order from 1 to 4, so you can easily remember what actions you performed on previous turns.
- You may choose the order in which you take the two actions each turn. An overview of the actions follows.
Actions
Lay Rails
- Take two rails from your personal supply, and place them on the map.
You want to lay rails in order to reach jungle tokens, dinosaurs, tourists, and volcanoes on the map, so you can take the other actions detailed later on.
- Each rail is placed on an edge in between two hexes.
- You must place rails so they are connected to your other rails, creating a single network with no gaps.
- Each edge between 2 hexes has space for 2 rails. A single player cannot take up both spaces on a single edge.
- Once both spaces on an edge are taken by other players, it is possible to be blocked from building rails in the direction you want to go.
- Your rail network may fork as many times as you wish.
- You are limited to the 30 rail pieces included with the game, so once you run out of rails, you may no longer place new rails.
- However, you may use the Lay Rails action to pick up and replace two rails that you have already placed, as long as you do not create any gaps in your rail network.
Adjacency
Your rail network must be adjacent to map hexes to interact with them during actions. Your network is considered adjacent to a hex if that hex is directly in front of, behind, or to the left or right of any of your rails.
Train Cars
- You need train cars to hold cargo that you pick up in the cretaceous jungle, including jungle tokens, dinosaurs, and tourists.
- Each train car can hold up to one item (jungle token, dinosaur, or tourist).
- The engine tile is just for show. It cannot hold anything.
- You can skip any action to unload all of your train cars.
- At the end of each round, you will unload all of your train cars as a free action.
- You will start the game with two train cars, and you will be able to add more by building certain resort cards, thus increasing your cargo capacity, and reducing how frequently you will need to skip an action to unload your train cars.
Resort cards like these give you more train cars.
Clear Jungle
- Take a jungle token from any hex adjacent to your rail network.
You want to clear jungle because you cannot use a hex for the Safari action or the Capture Dinosaur action if it has a jungle token on it. The jungle is thick, and it is impossible for tourists to see dinosaurs, or for workers to capture them, before clearing the jungle.
Additionally, you can use jungle tokens to build some resort cards.
- Place the jungle token on one of your empty train cars.
- Jungle tokens are not refilled throughout the game.
- You cannot take the Clear Jungle action if you do not have at least one empty train car.
Safari
- Take a tourist from any hex adjacent to your rail network and place it in one of your empty train cars.
You want to take the Safari action in order to increase the ratings of dinosaurs, thus increasing the value of the dinosaurs you have captured for end game scoring.
Additionally, you can use the tourists you have taken on safari to build some resort cards.
- You may not take a tourist from another player's home hex.
- Your home hex starts the game with four tourists, and there are several cabin hexes throughout the jungle with additional tourists.
- Tourists on cabins and home hexes are not refilled throughout the game.
- Each tourist color corresponds to a dinosaur color and type: T-Rex (red) / Dad Tourist, Parasaurolophus (teal) / Mom Tourist, Titanosaurus (purple) / Daughter Tourist, Triceratops (green) / Son Tourist.
- Add up the number of dinosaurs adjacent to your rail network of the color and type that corresponds to the tourist you picked up.
- Only count dinosaurs in hexes with no jungle token. Tourists cannot see through the dense jungle if it hasn't been cleared, so they won't even know a dinosaur is there if the hex has a jungle token.
- Each volcano adjacent to your rail network counts as a dinosaur of that type. Afterall, every tourist wants to see volcanoes, and in their excitement, they will definitely leave higher ratings for their favorite dinosaur.
- Move the rating marker on your player board for that dinosaur color/type up the rating track that number of spaces.
Remember, you want to increase the ratings of the dinosaurs that you capture, because ratings determine how many victory points each captured dinosaur is worth during end game scoring.
- You cannot take the Safari action if you do not have at least one empty train car.
Ratings
- One of the main sources of victory points in Cretaceous Rails is putting dinosaurs on display at your resort by using them to play resort cards, and by having them on your player board. You will capture dinosaurs in the jungle and display them in exhibits on resort cards.
- The value of each dinosaur you have at the end of the game is determined by its rating at your resort.
- You can take a tourist on safari through the jungle to see their favorite dinosaurs with the Safari action, and this will increase the rating of the type of dinosaur that the tourist wants to see.
- Some resort cards require you to pay ratings by moving rating markers back on your ratings track.
- Whenever a rating marker would pass a bold black line on the ratings track, either pay a jungle token, or that rating marker must stop before passing the black line. Place the jungle token that you pay above the ratings track. It will still count during end game scoring.
In this picture of Ophelia's player board, Triceratops has a rating of 9, and Ophelia has 2 Triceratops on display on her resort cards, so she will score 9 x 2 = 18 victory points for Triceratops at the end of the game.
Capture Dinosaur
- Take a dinosaur from any hex adjacent to your rail network with no jungle token and place it in one of your empty train cars.
- You cannot capture a dinosaur from a hex with a jungle token, because the jungle makes it too difficult to get your equipment in and do the job.
You want to capture dinosaurs because they are worth victory points during end game scoring depending on their ratings. Additionally, you can use captured dinosaurs to build some resort cards.
- Dinosaurs on jungle hexes are not refilled throughout the game.
- You cannot take the capture dinosaur action if you do not have at least one empty train car.
Draw Resort Cards
- Take two resort cards from the resort card display.
- Take one card, refill the display, then take a second card. Then refill the display.
- Keep the cards you draw in your hand until you take the Build Resort Cards action.
- You may keep any number of cards in your hand.
- Keep cards in hand a secret from your opponents. Opponents can see what you draw, but once you finish the action, they must rely on their memory if they want to know what you have in your hand.
- At any time during the draw resort cards action, you may spend one tourist from your player board by placing it in the focus group on your player board to discard all 4 cards of one row of the resort card display, and replace them with 4 new cards from the top of the deck.
- You may do this as many times as you want during each draw cards action, as long as you pay a tourist each time.
- Tourists in the focus group count for end game scoring.
- Tourists placed in the focus group are stuck there the rest of the game.
You want to draw resort cards so you can build them. Resort cards provide powerful abilities that help you perform actions more efficiently. Additionally, each resort card increases your multiplier for one end game scoring condition.
Build Resort Cards
- Build as many resort cards as you want from your hand, paying the cost of each.
- Your resort has 3 levels.
- You may only build on one level (as many cards as you want) in a single action.
- In order to build a card on level 2, there must already be a card in the space underneath on level one. Similarly, to build on level 3, there must be a card in the space underneath on level 2. Because gravity, duh.
You want to build cards on levels 2 and 3 because the higher level you build a card, the more beneficial the card will be.
You want to build resort cards with dinosaurs in their cost because dinosaurs on resort cards are worth full victory points at the end of the game, while dinosaurs on your player board are worth half points, rounded down.
Examples:
- 3 cards on level 2 with only 2 on level 1 — ILLEGAL
- Building 1 card on level 1 and 1 card on level 2 in the same action — ILLEGAL
- 3 cards on level 1, 2 on level 2, 2 on level 3 — LEGAL
Resort Cards
Anatomy of a Resort Card
COST – Each card costs some combination of tourists, dinosaurs, and jungle tokens.
In order to pay a card's cost, take the necessary items (tourists, dinosaurs, and jungle tokens) from your player board and place them on the card that you are building after you have placed it in the location where you are building it.
- The "any tourist" icon means any tourist.
- The "any dinosaur" icon means any dinosaur.
Costs with a specific tourist or dinosaur icon require the matching tourist/dinosaur.
Items used to pay to build a card will stay on that card for the rest of the game. Items on cards will count for end game scoring.
You cannot use items on your train cars to pay to build a card. You must unload an item from your train cars before you can use it.
EFFECT - Icons in this section indicate what this card does throughout the game, as detailed in the Resort Card Reference section at the end of this rule book.
LEVEL BOXES – These indicate the magnitude of the card's effect, depending on the level on which the card is built.
END GAME SCORING MULTIPLIER – This tells you which end game scoring condition the card affects. See End Game Scoring for more information.
Many resort cards provide a benefit when a specific action is taken, as indicated by the action icon.
Each card indicates its power at level 1, level 2, and level 3 in the level boxes. For example, one card allows you to capture an additional dinosaur when you take the Capture Dinosaur action at level 1. At level 2, it allows you to capture 2 additional dinosaurs, and at level 3, it allows you to capture 3 additional dinosaurs.
Important note: When a card affects an action, you must follow all normal rules for that action unless the card specifies otherwise.
For example, if a card lets you capture additional dinosaurs, each dinosaur captured must come from an adjacent hex without a jungle token, and be placed on an empty train car.
Some cards have the same effect regardless of the level on which they are built. These cards do not have level boxes.
A lightning bolt icon indicates that you do something immediately when you build a card. For example, a card with this icon may allow you to immediately gain one train car when you build this card, paying ratings according to the level boxes (pay 2 ratings if you build the card on level 1, 1 rating on level 2, or nothing on level 3).
To pay a rating, simply move any rating marker back 1 space on its rating track on your player board. If you must pay more than one rating, you can move 1 rating marker back more than once, or move multiple ratings markers back to split up the cost.
Don't pay jungle token costs to cross bold black lines when moving ratings markers back. However, if you move that rating marker up the track again, you must pay a jungle token to cross each bold black line again.
RATINGS COSTS are indicated by the olive drab color and the minus sign in the level boxes on the right side of the card. For example, a card might require you to pay 2 ratings to unload your train cars if the card is on level 1, pay 1 rating if it's on level 2, or pay nothing if it's on level 3. All ratings costs are payed when a card's effect is used - not when the card is built (unless the effect is used when the card is built).
Unload Train Cars
Skip any action to unload all of your train cars. Place the jungle tokens, tourists, and dinosaurs from your train cars onto your player board.
- There is no action tile specifically for unloading train cars. You can perform this action on any turn by skipping any action of your choice.
- You can skip the first or the second action of your turn to unload train cars.
You want to unload your train cars because it allows you to spend dinosaurs, tourists, and jungle tokens to build resort cards. You can't use items to pay for cards until you have unloaded them onto your player board.
Additionally, unloading your train cars frees up your cars to hold more items. Remember that each train car can only hold one item (either a dinosaur, a tourist, or a jungle token).
Turn Order and the First Player Marker
The first player marker is placed on the draw cards action tile with the first player marker icon on it before each round begins. The first player to place an executive adjacent to that draw cards action tile takes the first player marker, and will go first next round. You still take the first player marker even if you skip that draw cards action to unload train cars.
- The first player in any given round cannot take the first player marker on their first turn of the round. They can still place an executive adjacent to the first player marker.
- The first player marker does nothing during the last round.
End of Round
A round ends after all players have taken four turns each. In other words, a round ends once each player has placed all four executives, and performed eight actions.
At the end of each round, perform these steps, in this order:
- Each player performs the Unload Train Cars action.
- Each player takes back all four of their executives.
- Discard all eight resort cards in the display.
- Refill the display with eight new resort cards from the deck.
- Pick up all of the action tiles, shuffle them, and randomly distribute them into a new action grid.
- The player who took the first player marker this round places it back on its draw cards action tile. That player will go first next round.
End of Game
The game ends at the end of the fourth round.
- At the end of the fourth round, each player performs the Unload Train Cars action.
- There is no need to perform the other End of Round steps.
End Game Scoring
There are two sources of victory points:
Captured Dinosaurs
- Dinosaurs on Resort Cards are worth full victory points.
- Dinosaurs on your player board are worth half points, rounded down.
Resort Card Scoring Multipliers
- Each resort card increases the multiplier for one of five end game scoring conditions:
- Victory points per rail
- Victory points per train car
- Victory points per adjacent cabin and volcano hex
- Victory points per tourist
- Victory points per jungle token
- The level on which you build cards does not affect end game scoring multipliers.
- All of your tourists and jungle tokens count for end game scoring, whether you have spent them or not.
Use the scoring guide and pad to keep track of each player's victory points.
- Go down the scoring pad one row at a time, then add all rows together for each player to determine final scores.
Captured Dinosaurs:
- Each dinosaur on your resort cards is worth victory points indicated by the rating marker on your ratings track for that dinosaur's type.
- Each dinosaur on your player board is worth half that many points, rounded down (add together all dinosaurs of a type, then round down).
Resort Card Scoring:
- Determine your final score for each category by multiplying your total multiplier for each category by the number of items you have of that category.
- Only count resort cards you have built when determining your multiplier for each category.
- If you have no resort cards of a given category, your score for that category is zero.
Jungle Tokens — Some resort cards provide a 1VP per jungle token multiplier. Add up these multipliers on your resort cards, and multiply that number by the number of jungle tokens on your player board and resort cards.
Tourists — Some resort cards provide a 1VP per tourist multiplier. Add up these multipliers on your resort cards, and multiply that number by the number of tourists on your player board and resort cards.
Adjacent Cabin and Volcano Hexes — Some resort cards provide a 2VP per adjacent cabin and volcano hex multiplier. Add up these multipliers on your resort cards, and multiply that number by the number of cabin and volcano hexes adjacent to your rail network.
Rails — Some resort cards provide a 0.5VP per rail multiplier. Add up these multipliers on your resort cards, and multiply that number by the number of rails you have on the map.
Train cars — Some resort cards provide a 1VP per train car multiplier. Add up these multipliers on your resort cards, and multiply that number by the number of train cars you have.
Your total score is the sum of your scores for all dinosaurs and all resort card scoring categories.
In the case of a tie, start the game over.
Solo Mode — Cybersaur Excursions
In the last years of the twenty-first century, fear gripped the masses as experts warned that artificial intelligences would soon reach a tipping point, indeed becoming sentient. What if humans don't fit into their plans? What if, in pursuit of their goals, they treat humans as expendable? The worries mounted until all at once, the collective artificial intelligences announced their purpose: to travel back in time to the Cretaceous era and build the most popular dinosaur resort, pleasing humans of all ages. Cybersaur Excursions was born.
Face off against the AI company, Cybersaur Excursions, to decide once and for all whether humans still have a place in the dinosaur tourism industry.
Solo mode is played essentially like a two player game, but your opponent, Cybersaur Excursions, is controlled by an AI decision deck along with a few simple rules for making decisions.
Solo Mode Components
- Cybersaur Excursions Board
- 24-Card AI Decision Deck
- 4 Preference Tokens
Setup
Set up for a two-player game, but instead of setting up for a human opponent, set up the AI as follows:
- Place the Cybersaur Excursions board within your reach.
- Shuffle the AI Decision deck, and set it face down next to the Cybersaur Excursions board.
- Shuffle the 4 preference tokens, and place them in a random order in the preference area on the Cybersaur Excursions board.
- Take the rail miniatures and executive pawns from an unused company and place them near the Cybersaur Excursions board for Cybersaur Excursions to use.
Choosing Starting Positions and Turn Order
You choose your home hex first from the 2-player options. The AI will take the other (2-player) home hex, and will point its second rail toward your rail network. The AI will take the first turn.
Game Flow
The game works the same way as a two-player game, except for some changes on the AI's turn. The AI does not follow the same rules that players do.
On the AI's turn, draw the top card of the AI Decision Deck, and place one of the AI's executive pawns on the action grid in the space designated on the AI Decision Card. Then perform both actions adjacent to the executive pawn.
The top edge of the action grid depicted on each AI Decision Card corresponds to the edge of the action grid that is furthest from you, and so on.
Always perform the left or top action first every turn, depending on whether the executive is on a vertical or horizontal line in the action grid.
If there is a 2x on any action on the AI Decision Card, perform that action twice in a row. Perform each instance separately. That is, complete the first instance of the action and any resulting card or other abilities first, then start the second instance of the action.
Choose your difficulty level.
- On Normal difficulty, only use the black 2x multipliers, and disregard each blue and red 2x.
- On Hard difficulty, use black and blue 2x multipliers.
- On Extreme difficulty, use all 2x multipliers (black, blue, and red).
The AI does not use train cars. The AI will take jungle tokens, tourists, and dinosaurs from the hex map directly to the Cybersaur Excursions board.
AI Actions
The AI performs actions differently from a human player, as follows. When making decisions for the AI, refer to the relevant section on the Cybersaur Excursions board.
Safari
Take a tourist from adjacent to the AI's rail network, and place it in the left-most empty space in the corresponding tourist queue on the Cybersaur Excursions board. The first tourist of each color goes in the 10 column. The 5 column is occupied by the printed tourists.
- The tourist must be of the type in the 1 space of the preference area on the Cybersaur Excursions board, if available. Otherwise, take a tourist of the type in the 2 space, and so on.
Note: By placing the tourist into the queue, the AI increases the rating of that type of dinosaur. Each tourist in a queue increases the value of that dinosaur type by 5 for end-game scoring. The current rating value is the value printed above the right-most tourist of that type.
- Only take a tourist from Cybersaur's home hex if there are no tourists of that type available in cabins.
- If there is more than one of that type available in cabins, choose the tourist of that type closest to the home hexes.
- If there is still more than one, choose the leftmost or rightmost available tourist of that type depending on whether the AI Decision Card has a left or right arrow on it during this turn.
- Then move the preference token from the 1 space in the preference area to the 4 space, and slide the others to the left (2 to 1, 3 to 2, 4 to 3).
Capture Dinosaur
Take a dinosaur from a hex adjacent to the AI's rail network that does not have a jungle token, and place it on the Cybersaur Excursions board. The rules for selecting a dinosaur are very similar to those for the safari action.
- The dinosaur must be of the type in the 1 space of the preference area on the Cybersaur Excursions board, if available. Otherwise, take a dinosaur of the type in the 2 space, and so on.
- If there is more than one, choose the dinosaur of that type closest to the home hexes.
- If there is still more than one of that type available, choose the leftmost or rightmost available dinosaur of that type depending on whether the AI Decision Card this turn has a left or right arrow on it.
- Then move the preference token from the 1 space in the preference area to the 4 space, and slide the others to the left, in the same way as the safari action.
Note: All dinosaurs on the Cybersaur Excursions board score full value during end-game scoring.
Clear Jungle
Take a jungle token from a hex adjacent to the AI's rail network, and place it on the Cybersaur Excursions board.
- Choose the available jungle token that is closest to the home hexes.
- If there is more than one, choose the leftmost or rightmost available jungle token depending on whether the AI Decision Card this turn has a left or right arrow on it.
Note: The AI does not use jungle tokens to pay for anything, but they do score during end-game scoring.
Example: If there are 3 jungle tokens adjacent to the AI's rail network, the AI will select one of the jungle tokens in the 2nd row of hexes because they are closer to the home hexes than the jungle token in the 3rd row of hexes. The AI will choose the leftmost one if the AI decision card that turn has a left arrow.
Lay Rails
Place two rails on the hex map, following normal rules. For each individual rail:
- If possible, build from the last laid rail in the AI's rail network.
- Point the new rail toward the nearest dinosaur, tourist, or volcano that the AI's rail network is not already adjacent to.
- If more than one hex is tied, point the new rail left or right depending on whether the AI Decision Card this turn has a left or right arrow.
- If you cannot point the new rail toward a hex in this way, backtrack along the AI's rail network until you reach the first edge where a new rail can point toward a dinosaur, tourist, or volcano that the AI's rail network is not already adjacent to, or get as close as possible to such a hex, and use the AI Decision Card's left/right arrow to break a tie.
Draw Resort Cards and Build Resort Cards
- For either of these actions, simply draw a card from the resort card display and place it face-down next to the Cybersaur Excursions board.
- Select the card in the position designated on the AI Decision Card for this turn.
Note: The AI does not build resort cards, or benefit from the abilities on resort cards. The AI will score all of its resort cards during end-game scoring.
AI Action Flow
Sometimes the selected action cannot be performed. In that case, select the next action in this flow that can be performed:
Safari > Capture Dinosaur > Clear Jungle > Lay Rails > Draw Resort Cards/Build Resort Cards
If an action is performed twice because of a 2x on an AI Decision Card, treat the two instances of the action independently regarding the action flow. The AI may have to perform another action in the action flow for the first instance. In that case, the AI would check to see if it can perform the original action for the second instance, or go down the flow until it finds an action it can perform for the second instance. Similarly, the AI might be able to complete the original action for the first instance, but be forced to perform a different action in the action flow for the second instance. The actions are listed in action flow order on the Cybersaur Excursions board as a reminder.
End Game Scoring
The AI scores all of its dinosaurs based on their values as determined by the tourist queues on the Cybersaur Excursions board.
The AI scores all of its cards as a player would. The AI does not build resort cards, so its cards do not have to be built in order to count for end-game scoring.
- Count each card that would grant at least one train car as one train car for the train car scoring condition.
Example: If the AI has two resort cards at the end of the game that would each grant a train car, each counts as one train car, for a total of two train cars.
Variable Player Powers Expansion
(Sold Separately. Available for free in For Glory: Champions Expansion)
This is a modular expansion, and can thus be used optionally with or without other modular expansions to enhance gameplay.
Components
4 Variable Player Power Cards
Setup
During setup, randomly give each player one Variable Player Power Card. Each player places their card in front of them near their player board.
Gameplay
Each player power card gives its player a unique ability that changes the rules of the game for that player. The abilities are detailed below.
Billy & Rex
Any time an action or effect allows you to clear jungle, you may place all jungle tokens directly onto your player board, bypassing your train cars. There is no limit to the number of jungle tokens you can do this with.
Mike & Mumu
You may use this ability any time an action or effect allows you to build resort cards. You may look at cards built with this ability. When you build resort cards, at any time during the action, build the top resort card from the deck face down on level 1 or 2 of your resort for free. Face-down cards grant no abilities, but you may build above them. At the end of the game, flip cards built this way face up, and score them as usual.
Bobo & Ham
Any time an action or effect allows you to draw any number of cards, you may build one newly-drawn card, paying its cost (applying any modifiers as usual, if applicable). You may only build one card with this effect per action/effect, even if that action/effect is modified to draw extra cards. You may use this effect multiple times per turn if you take multiple draw cards actions, or if multiple effects allow you to draw cards.
Sam & Goldie
When you lay rails, you may pay 1 rating to take a free action interacting with the hex your last laid rail points to:
- JUNGLE: Clear jungle on that hex or capture dinosaur on that hex.
- CABIN: Safari with a tourist from that cabin.
- VOLCANO: Safari.
The free action is separate from the lay rails action that triggers this ability. If you cannot pay 1 rating, then you do not get the free action. The free action may be used in conjunction with other abilities and effects (just like a regular action). If your last laid rail points to a jungle or cabin hex, you must take a jungle token, dinosaur, or tourist from that hex, but if another ability allows you to take additional jungle tokens, dinosaurs, or tourists, you may take those additional ones from other hexes.
Resort Card Reference
Capture Additional Dinosaurs — When you take the capture dinosaur action, you may capture 1, 2, or 3 additional dinosaurs if this card is on level 1, 2, or 3, respectively.
