Goal of the Game

Gain as many points as possible by winning a shiny trophy and gathering stars along the racetrack. The first person to cross the finish line is not guaranteed to win!

Contents

  • 4 Control panels
  • 4 Player Spaceships
  • 5 Obstacle Spaceships (Fredino, Furbizarre, General Duck, Discoking, Octobuddy)
  • 9 Steering tiles
  • 7 Track tiles + 1 Fuel Station tile
  • 20 Star tokens (1 for 5 points, 4 for 3 points, 8 for 2 points, and 7 for 1 point)
  • 4 Trophies (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Chocolate)
  • 6 Bonus tokens & 1 Loki figure

Setup

  1. Each player chooses a Player Spaceship and takes the matching Control Panel, then points the arrow on their Control Panel to speed 1.
  2. Create the racetrack by drawing 3 random Track tiles and placing them in between the Starting Line tile and Finish Line tile.
  3. Place the Fuel Station tile between the second and third Track tiles. Then place Loki and the Bonus tokens near this tile.
  4. Put an Obstacle Spaceship and a face-down Star token on each spot shown on the Track tiles.
  5. Place the Steering tiles in a 3x3 grid, face down, where everyone can reach them.
  6. The player who saw a shooting star most recently starts the game. If no one has seen a shooting star, the youngest player goes first.
  7. Starting with the first player then going clockwise, each player chooses where to place their Spaceship on the Starting Line.

Turn Overview

Starting with the first player then going clockwise, each player takes a turn.

On your turn, you can either:

  • Decide to reveal a tile and apply its effect. Then leave it face up and make a new decision, OR
  • Decide to stop. Flip the tiles face down without changing their positions.

You can reveal as many Steering tiles as you like, one by one. When you reveal a Steering tile, you must immediately apply its effect. Steering tiles affect 1 of 3 things:

Speed

This tile lets you increase or decrease your Spaceship's speed. When you reveal this tile, move the arrow on your Control Panel by one number.

  • If the arrow is on number 1, you speed up! Move the arrow on your Control Panel to number 2.
  • If the arrow is on number 2, you can decide to speed up or slow down. Move the arrow on your Control Panel to number 1 or number 3.
  • If the arrow is already on number 3, you slow down! Move the arrow to number 2.

Your Spaceship's speed is found on your Control Panel. It shows whether you can move your Spaceship 1, 2, or 3 spaces at a time.

Direction

When you reveal a Steering tile with a direction, move your Spaceship as many spaces in that direction as shown on your Control Panel. You can never move backwards.

  • Forward: Move your Spaceship forward in a straight line.
  • Diagonal: Move your Spaceship diagonally left or right. You cannot go back and forth between left and right.
  • Sideways: Move your Spaceship to the left or right of your current space. You cannot go back and forth between left and right if you have more than 1 movement.

Racetrack

The racetrack is full of dangers! But this Steering tile can help you move certain obstacles!

Move an Obstacle Spaceship or another player's Spaceship by one space (left, right, or forward - never backwards). The Spaceship you move must be ahead of yours on the track.

  • If you move another player's Spaceship over a Star token, they take it and put it face down near their Control Panel.
  • If you move an Obstacle Spaceship over a Star token, this token is blocked. As long as this Spaceship is on top of it, no one can take it.
  • You cannot move an Obstacle Spaceship onto the same space as another Spaceship (Obstacle or Player), onto an obstacle space, or off the racetrack.

Reminder: You can choose to stop before revealing a new Steering tile.

Alternate rule: Beginners or younger players don't lose Star tokens when their Spaceship runs into an obstacle. Their turn still ends like normal.

Obstacles

Obstacles are other Spaceships (Obstacle or Player) and asteroids drawn on the racetrack.

Watch Out for Accidents

Your turn ends if your Spaceship runs into an obstacle or if it moves off the racetrack. If this happens, put your Spaceship on the last space you entered before running into an obstacle or moving off the racetrack. Move the arrow on your Control Panel back to number 1.

Then, lose one of your Star tokens (chosen randomly by another player). Place it face down on the first space behind your Spaceship that does not have an obstacle. There can be multiple Star tokens on the same space. Star tokens can be taken by another player on a future turn. Your turn is now over.

Star Tokens

Star tokens give you points that help you win the race. You pick them up after stopping on or moving over a space with one or more Star tokens.

Star tokens are worth 1, 2, 3, or 5 points. When you pick up a Star token, put it face down near your Control Panel. You can look at your tokens whenever you like, but do not show them to the other players.

Bonus Tokens

When a player reaches the Fuel Station for the first time, all the other players can ask Loki for a little help.

All players, except the player who reached the Fuel Station, choose a Bonus token. The player furthest behind on the racetrack chooses first, then the next-to-last player, and so on. In case of tie, the youngest player chooses their token first.

You can activate your Bonus token at any time on your turn, but you can only use it once per game.

  • Super Rocket: Move 4 spaces forward in a straight line, ignoring obstacles. However, the final space cannot contain an obstacle.
  • Super Telescope: Secretly choose and look at 3 Steering tiles.
  • Smoke Screen: All other players must close their eyes. Choose and swap the place of 3 Steering tiles.
  • Star Magnet: Pick up all Star tokens within 1 space of your Spaceship (front, back, left, right, diagonal).
  • Energy Shield: Avoid one accident. Do not lose any Stars and continue your turn.
  • Blast Off: Move your Spaceship to the space behind the next Spaceship in front of you.

End of the Game

The game ends after all players have crossed the Finish Line. If there is only one player left on the racetrack, you can choose to end the game early. The first player to cross the Finish Line takes the gold trophy, the second takes the silver trophy, and the third takes the bronze trophy. The final player takes the chocolate trophy.

Then all players count up their points from the Star tokens they collected. The player with the most points wins the game. In case of tie, the player with the better trophy wins.

To help count your scores, we made a helpful aid on the back of your Control Panel. Feel free to use it!

Warm Up Lap (Rules for 1 Player)

Place your Spaceship on any space on the Starting Line, then place another rival Spaceship next to yours. Take turns controlling your Spaceship and the rival Spaceship. You take the first turn and play using the normal rules. At the end of your turn, move the rival Spaceship forward 3 spaces in a straight line.

  • If there is an Obstacle Spaceship in front of them, move the Obstacle Spaceship to an adjacent space (left or right).
  • If there is an asteroid in front of them, move the rival Spaceship forward 1 space diagonally (left or right).

Once the rival has moved 3 spaces, it's your turn, and so on.

End of the game: If you cross the Finish Line before your rival, you win the game! You lose if they cross the Finish Line before you. If this mode is too easy for you, play again by moving the rival Spaceship forward 4 spaces instead of 3 each turn.

Finally, try to get the highest score possible by collecting Star tokens, but make sure you finish the race before your rival!
