Objective

Complete different recipes to score 6 points or more.

To complete a recipe, place 3 frying pan markers on your side of a recipe tile. These markers must be placed in order, one at a time.

Players: 2-3. Age: 6+. Time: 5-10 minutes.

Components

  • 12 Ingredient cards: 3 Cereals (yellow), 3 Fruits and Vegetables (green), 3 Sugars (purple), 3 Proteins (red)
  • 6 Wild tokens: 3 purple/yellow, 3 red/green
  • 1 Judge standee
  • 19 Frying pan markers
  • 12 Recipe tiles

Setup

Each player receives 4 ingredient cards (1 of each type/color) and 2 wild tokens (1 red/green and 1 purple/yellow).

Shuffle all recipe tiles. Reveal the top 3 and place them in the center of the table. Leave the rest face-down. Place the Frying Pan markers in reach of all players.

The player who most recently had dessert goes first. Turn order must proceed in clockwise order (to the left). The player to the right of the starting player receives the Judge standee.

Gameplay

In your turn, follow these 4 steps in order:

1. (Optional) Use a wild token

(Skip this while reading the rules for the first time.)

You may choose a wild token and place it on your side of a recipe tile, thus changing the required ingredient.

  • The token is placed on the first ingredient symbol (leftmost) without a frying pan marker on it.
  • This does not count as completing that ingredient; you still need to place a frying pan marker on it.
  • Wild tokens remain in place until any player completes any recipe tile.
  • You may use both wild tokens on the same turn.
  • You may place a wild token over another wild token.

2. Play an ingredient card

[Printed as "1._ (Optional) Use a wild token".]

Choose 1 ingredient card in your hand that matches the next ingredient symbol on your side of any recipe tile. Place the ingredient card face-down on the table.

Illustrated example: one player can choose between sugars and fruits and vegetables; another player can choose between proteins and fruits.

3. Guess

The player with the Judge standee must try to guess the card you played by naming it or its color.

When guessing, your foe will try to analyze the amount of points each tile has, how close a recipe is to be completed and any other bluffing factors.

Reveal the card:

If the guess is WRONG: You take 1 frying pan marker and place it on your side of a recipe tile whose next ingredient matches the ingredient card you played.

If the guess is correct: The player with the judge standee takes 1 frying pan marker and places it on the next ingredient on his/her side of any recipe tile.

If an illegal card is played, it counts as a correct guess.

4. Scoring and clean up

Return the ingredient card to your hand. If a recipe tile is completed by having 3 frying pans on the same border, the player who completed the recipe gets the tile. Then, if he/she has 6 or more points, that player wins. Otherwise, reveal the next recipe tile in the center of the table.

When any recipe tile is completed, return all wild tokens to their owners even if there are any frying pan markers over them; those frying pan markers remain on the recipe tile.

Next Turn

If the guess is WRONG: The player to your left will be the next active player (who will play an ingredient card). If that player has the judge standee, he/she must pass it to the player on his/her right.

In a 2-player game, players will alternate turns playing and guessing. In a 3-player game, the player with the judge standee will guess two consecutive turns before playing. [Printed as "...two consecutive turns before playing consecutive turns before playing."]

Expert Mode

Play without wild tokens. When guessing correctly, the player with the Judge standee may place a frying pan marker OR change an opponent's frying pan marker to another Recipe tile (on that opponent's border).
