Object

The first player who collects 10 stars (points) worth of Realm cards, or who conquers all six continents by force, wins the game.

Components

  • 37 Persona cards
  • 18 Realm cards: 3 each for Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America.
  • 132 Development tokens: 44 each for Military, Culture, and Science.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the Realm cards and deal 1 card face up (the white side) in front of each player. Place the rest of the cards face up at the center of the table as the Realm deck.
  2. Shuffle the Persona cards face down and deal 6 cards to each player. Place the rest of the cards at the center of the table as the Persona deck. ※ The hand limit is 6. Players are not allowed to draw more new cards as long as they have 6 cards in their hand.
  3. Place the 132 Development tokens next to the two decks as a pool. Then, place 1 Military, Culture, and Science token in front of each player.
  4. The player who most recently traveled to another continent becomes the starting player. The game proceeds clockwise around the table.

Game Play

Action Phase

On his turn, a player must perform one (and only one) of the following four actions:

Play a Persona Card

  1. Play a Persona card in front of you from your hand and perform the card effect.
  2. On the next phase each player may gain Development tokens based on the Persona cards in front of them. Each red card gives you 1 Military token, green card gives you 1 Culture token, and blue card gives you 1 Science token. ※ A Subject has NO effect when played, but the player who plays the Subject can choose to gain one of the three tokens the next phase.
  3. There are three types of card effects:
    • (Effect icon 技) You must perform the effect as soon as you play the card unless it says "you may."
    • (Effect icon 天) The card doesn't activate until it is discarded from a player's hand or from in play.
    • (Effect icon 戰, Battle) A player plays this type of card to attack another player and uses the abilities of the card to influence the battle. (See Battles section).

Expand

Check the requirement of the Military tokens shown on the bottom left of the top card of the Realm deck. Pay that amount of tokens to the pool and place the Realm card in front of you.

Construction

Choose 1 Realm card in front of you. Pay the number of Culture or Science tokens shown on the bottom right of the card to the pool. Then, FLIP that Realm card, and DRAW a card from the Persona deck to your hand.

※ You can only pay the cost of Construction with either all Culture tokens or all Science tokens, you cannot mix and match. Military tokens cannot be used for Construction.

Yellow stars represent the prosperity of the realm, while black stars represent desolation after battles. After you gain a Realm card, you may earn yellow stars through Construction. Collecting stars and establishing a prosperous and peaceful empire is one way to win the game.

Pass

You can choose to pass this phase without performing any other action for the rest of this round. Players who do not pass will continue to do the Action phase. Once every player passes his turn, the game moves to the Income phase.

Income Phase

  1. Each player gains 1 Military token for each red Persona card, 1 Culture token for each green Persona card, and 1 Science token for each blue Persona card in front of them. As for Subjects, players choose one of the three tokens for each Subject they have in play.
  2. Shuffle all the Persona cards in play and in the discard pile into the Persona deck. Then, each player draws three cards. ※ The hand limit is 6. Players are not allowed to draw more new cards as long as they have 6 cards in their hand.
  3. The player to the left of the starting player for the past round becomes the starting player for the next round. Start a new round beginning with the Action phase.

Battles

Players who have the Persona cards with Battle icon type may attack other players by taking the following steps:

  1. Choose any of the Realm card(s) in front of any player.
  2. Play RPS with that player. Both of you speak out "ROCK PAPER SCISSORS" and then make a throw. If you tie, continue to play until someone wins the throw.
  3. If the attacker wins, flip the chosen Realm card to its front if the card is face down, or place it in front of the attacker if the card is face up.
  4. If the defender wins, nothing happens.
  5. The persona card remains in front of the attacker regardless of the battle result.

※ The ability of the Battle icon Persona cards only lasts for one attack. ※ You may declare your throw even without Caesar's effect. ※ If players tie so that they have to play more throws, some cards may be triggered for each throw in the same battle. For example, if you play Ashoka and tie three times during the battle, you must discard three Persona cards that the defender has in play.

Game End

The game ends immediately once any player meets the following requirements:

  1. Any player has all six continents of the Realm cards in play, regardless if face up or down.
  2. Any player has 10 stars (points) in total, after subtracting the number of black stars from the number of yellow stars, on the Realm cards in play.

The first player who meets one of the requirements is the winner!
