Game Setup

a) The city tokens with an "A" are returned to the box. The remaining 23 city tokens are assigned as usual. b) The small map to the top right of the gameboard is the new bonus marker section. c) Each player starts with a land colonist in LONDINIUM and a sea colonist in PORTUS ITIUS.

Personality Cards: TRIBUNE and COLONIST

New Colonists may be placed in LONDINIUM (land colonists) or PORTUS ITIUS (sea colonist). If you use the COLONIST, you may also place new colonists inside any city where you own a house.

Germania

Game Setup

a) The small map to the top left of the gameboard is the new bonus marker section. After the usual setup, the remaining bonus markers are randomly distributed on the Roman castles, leaving their goods face up. The leftover 2 bonus markers are taken out of the game. b) Each player starts with a land colonist in BASILIA and a sea colonist in COLONIA AGRIPPINA.

Personality Card: TRIBUNE

a) If your land colonists are on a line connected to a Roman castle, and the respective bonus marker is still there, the player may remove one (and only one) of the connected bonus markers from the board and receives 1 unit of the appropriate good from the bank into his storehouse. If the bonus good was food or iron, it may immediately be used to help pay for 1 new colonist. Without space in your storehouse it is forbidden to remove a bonus marker. b) New land- and sea colonists may be placed in either BASILIA or COLONIA AGRIPPINA.

Example: Yellow uses his TRIBUNE. 2 of his land colonists are in reach of Roman castles with bonus markers. However, he may remove only 1 marker and receive only 1 unit of goods at a time. Yellow decides to take food, which is initially placed into his storehouse. In addition, yellow pays 1 food and 1 tools, and places a new sea colonist in BASILIA.

Personality Card: COLONIST

New Colonists may be placed in your own cities, BASILIA or COLONIA AGRIPPINA.

Personality Card: ARCHITECT

a) Move colonists: Sea colonists each provide 2 movement steps instead of 1. Like other movement, this may be used by any colonist(s) the player controls. Land colonists still provide 1 movement step each. Therefore, at the start, each player has 3 movement steps. b) Sea colonists only move along rivers (blue). Each river section may be occupied by several sea colonists at the same time. c) Land colonists move on the brown lines between cities and/or Roman castles. Each brown line can be occupied only by 1 land colonist at the same time.

Example: Yellow uses his ARCHITECT. Yellow has 1 sea colonist on the river and 1 land colonist on the brown line, and both of them are between BRISIACUS and BASILIA. This totals 3 movement steps. The arrows show how yellow could use his 3 movement steps: the land colonist moves 2 steps towards ARAE FLAVIAE, and the sea colonist moves 1 step upstream towards CONSTANTIA. After his movement, yellow may build 2 new houses in ARAE FLAVIAE and CONSTANTIA.

N.B.: Houses can never be built on Roman castles.
