Setup
Each player receives one wall card with a cat sitting on it, one wall card with a mouse sitting on it, and one clock card with a mouse sitting on it. This is each player's starting set.
Divide the remaining cards into three decks: walls, clocks and roofs, and shuffle each deck separately. Then set aside three roof cards and five wall cards, face down. They will not be used in the game.
Place the three decks face up on the table, determine who goes first, and begin the game.
Course of Play
On your turn you must draw a card from a deck and play a card. A player must always have exactly three cards in hand at the start and at the end of their turn.
If a player plays a wall card, they may either start a new tower or continue building an already started tower.
If a player plays a clock card, they must place it above a wall card. Each tower may have only one clock.
If a player plays a roof card, they must place it on top of a tower that has only walls and a clock.
If a player does not want to (or cannot) play any card, they must still discard enough cards so that they have three cards in hand. In this case the cards are discarded face down on the table, set aside, and no longer used in the game.
Clock Towers
A completed tower consists of one or more wall cards, one clock card and one roof card. During the game a player may have any number of completed and unfinished towers.
It is important that the first tower with a roof of a given colour has one or two floors, the second tower with a roof of the same colour is one floor higher, the third is one more floor higher, and so on.
For example: the first completed tower with a blue roof has one floor, the second must be two floors high, the third three floors, and the fourth four floors.
End of the Game and Scoring
The game ends when all three decks are used up and the players have played (or discarded) all their cards.
Each player now counts the points earned for each of their clock towers.
- Unfinished towers earn no points.
- A clock tower with no mouse and no cat sitting on its walls earns 5 points.
- A clock tower with a cat (cats) and no mouse (mice) earns 4 points.
- A clock tower with a cat (cats) and a mouse (mice) earns 3 points.
- A clock tower with a mouse (mice) but no cat (cats) earns only 2 points.
The player with the most points is the winner.
If several players have equal points, the winner is the one among them who has a mouse on the top floor of one of their completed towers. If the winner is still not determined, the winner is the one who has a cat on the top floor of one of their completed towers.
