- 18 bonus tiles (6 yellow, 6 orange and 6 green)
Setup
- Shuffle the bonus tiles face down.
- Place 2 bonus tiles per region on the game board. The tiles are placed face down, so that each one covers a house space, but not at the intersection of several roads.
Course of Play
The course of play is the same as in the base game, with the following exceptions:
- The player who places the first house in a region first turns over both bonus tiles of that region before deciding on which house space to place his piece.
- When a player places a house on a house space occupied by a bonus tile, he takes the bonus tile and places it face down in front of him.
Scoring
Intermediate and final scoring follow the rules of the base game, with the following exceptions:
- During final scoring, the three colours of bonus tiles (yellow, orange and green) are counted separately.
- For each of the three colours, the player who has the majority of bonus tiles in that colour scores 6 additional points.
- If several players are tied for the majority, each of them scores 6 additional points.
Example: Archibald has 3 orange bonus tiles, 2 green bonus tiles and 1 yellow bonus tile. Barnabé has 3 orange bonus tiles, 4 yellow bonus tiles and 2 green bonus tiles. Claire has 2 green bonus tiles and 1 yellow bonus tile. Archibald therefore scores 6 points (for his orange tiles) + 6 points (for his green tiles) + 6 points (for his yellow tiles), for a total of 18 bonus points. Barnabé scores 6 points (for his orange tiles) + 6 points (for his green tiles), for a total of 12 bonus points. Claire scores only 6 bonus points, for her green tiles.
Translator's note: the example is reproduced as printed in the source. Under the majority rule stated above, Barnabé (4 yellow tiles) holds the yellow majority, and Archibald (1 yellow tile) does not, so the example's yellow points for Archibald and Barnabé do not follow from the rule as written. The source's wording has not been corrected here; the rule text above is the authoritative part.
Translation notes
The terms "house" (French "palais") and "region" (French "région") follow the English base rulebook (China rulebook). "Emissary" follows the base rulebook as well.
