Game Materials
- 1 overview card
- 67 harvest cards:
- 11 ladders
- 5 wildcards
- 42 pieces of fruit (pineapple, pear, banana, cherry, orange, grape, each from 0 to 6)
- 9 baskets (0 and 2 to 9)
- 6 plant cards
Set-up
In the four-player game, remove 1 ladder, 1 wildcard, all fruits with the value of 6, and the basket with the value of 9. If there are only three players, remove 2 ladders, 2 wildcards, all fruit with the values of 5 and 6, as well as the baskets with the values of 8 and 9. In the two-player game, play without any ladders and, in addition, remove the same cards as in the three-player game.
Tip: The overview card shows you which harvest cards are removed.
Lay out the six plant cards next to one another and place one (randomly drawn) harvest card below each of them.
Shuffle the remaining harvest cards well and distribute them evenly among all players. Take the cards you have received in your hand. If there is a harvest card left over, lay it aside unseen.
The Game
Each player chooses one hand card and puts it face down in front of him. Then all players reveal their cards at the same time. These cards indicate in what order and from which plant you are now allowed to harvest.
Each player forms a face-down harvest pile of the harvested cards in front of him.
Note: You may look at your harvested cards anytime.
Who harvests WHEN and WHERE?
1 Ladders: If you are the only player who has played a ladder, you are the first to harvest. Choose any one plant and put the harvest card lying there on your harvest pile. Put the ladder you have played on the now-vacant place. If several players have played a ladder, they do not harvest; instead, each puts the ladder he has played directly on his harvest pile.
2 Wildcards: If you are the only one who has played a wildcard, you are the next one to harvest. Take any harvest card from a plant of your choice and put it on your harvest pile. Put the wildcard you have played on the now-vacant place. If several players have played a wildcard, they do not harvest; instead, each puts the wildcard he has played directly on his harvest pile.
3 Fruits: After that, all players who have played a fruit get a chance to harvest. Each of them takes the harvest card from the plant whose fruit he has played (e.g., from the cherry tree, if he has played a cherry - even if there is currently no cherry lying there); he puts the harvested card on his harvest pile, and the fruit he has played on the now-vacant place.
If players have played fruits of the same sort, the one who has played the highest value is the first of these players to harvest. Then the other players follow in descending order of their card values.
4 Baskets: If you are the only one who has played a basket, you are the last to harvest. Choose any one plant and put the harvest card lying there on your harvest pile. Then put the basket you have played on the now-vacant place. If several players have played a basket, the one who has played the highest value is the first to harvest. Then the other players follow in descending order of their card values.
Example
Tina has played a ladder, so she begins harvesting where she wants. She chooses the cherries that are lying at the banana tree. After that, she places her ladder there. She puts the harvested cherries face down on her harvest pile.
Robin has played a pineapple. Therefore, he harvests from the pineapple plant. He takes the basket lying there and places it on his harvest pile. Then he puts the pineapple he has played on the now-vacant place at the pineapple plant.
Nina and Tobias have played cherries. Since Nina's card shows the higher value, she gets to the cherry tree before Tobias. She harvests the pear lying there and replaces it with the cherry card she has played.
Tobias harvests Nina's card at the cherry tree. He puts the cherry card he has played on the place that has been left vacant by this.
Every player who would have played a basket would harvest after Tobias, beginning with the player with the highest basket value.
Points
You keep playing until you have no hand cards left. Then you figure out how many points you get for the cards you have harvested.
This is how you tally your harvest pile:
- Add up all card values (ladders and wildcards have no card value, so they count "0").
- Square the number of the ladders you have collected: if you have gathered 1 ladder, you get 1 x 1 = 1 point; 2 ladders: 2 x 2 = 4 points; 3 ladders: 3 x 3 = 9 points; and so on.
- Add the fruit salad bonus. If you have collected a fruit of each sort, you obtain 10 bonus points.
- Add the same-sort bonus. If you have collected four fruits of the same sort, you get 10 bonus points. If you have collected five fruits of the same sort, you get 20 bonus points.
If you manage to fulfill the conditions for a bonus more than once (with different cards), you also get the respective bonus points more than once (e.g. 4 cherries + 5 bananas = 30 bonus points).
You can use a card to earn both kinds of bonus: fruit salad bonus and same-sort bonus.
You may use any wildcard you have collected as exactly one fruit of any sort in order to get bonus points.
Attention! A wildcard can never stand for two different fruits at the same time.
Example
- Ladders: 2 x 2 = 4
- Fruits: 0+1+2+2+1+1+1+4+0+3 = 15
- Baskets: 8 = 8
- Same-sort bonus: 4 bananas = 10
- Fruit salad bonus: one fruit of each of the six sorts = 10
- Total: 47
Write down your results. Then play a second and a third set of rounds.
End of the Game
After three sets of rounds, you all add up your three results. The player who was able to collect the most points overall wins.
