Components

  • 167 Category Cards
  • 40 Ranking Tiles (5 in each color), labeled A through E

Setup

  • Each player chooses a matching color set of tiles labeled A through E. These are your Ranking Tiles.
  • Place the Category Cards on the table face down.
  • Do some vocal warmups.

How to Play

  • The most opinionated player begins as The Ranker and draws a card, reading it out loud.
  • The Ranker announces the ranking scale to the table. For first-time players, the scale can either be BEST to WORST, or WORST to BEST.
  • Using The Ranker's scale, all players secretly rank the 5 options by placing their Ranking Tiles face down in front of them, based on their own opinion.
  • For more advanced rankings, check out "Game Tips."

Debate

  • After everyone finishes placing their tiles, ONLY The Ranker reveals their tiles.
  • Once revealed, all players explode into debate, each battling to make The Ranker's tiles match their own. The table will get loud, so it is up to The Ranker how they want to control the mayhem.
  • We recommend a verbal brawl as it is the most rambunctious and chaotic!
  • While debating, ONLY The Ranker can change the order of their tiles.
  • Once The Ranker has made up their mind, they LOCK IN their tiles. Once locked in, the tiles cannot be changed.

Scoring

  • Each player reveals their rankings and whoever has the most matches with The Ranker wins the card.
  • If there is a tie, The Ranker chooses the winner.
  • After the round, everyone resets their tiles, The Ranker moves to the left, and a new card is drawn.
  • First player to 3 cards wins, or keep the party going all night long!

Scoring Example

  • The Ranker's order (best to worst): A, D, C, B, E.
  • Player 1 ranks A, E, C, B, D: 3 matches. Winner.
  • Player 2 ranks A, E, C, D, B: 2 matches.
  • Player 3 ranks D, B, C, E, A: 1 match.

Ice Breaker

A great way for people to break the ice and debate!

  • Draw a card and everyone ranks the options.
  • Reveal your rankings one at a time and discuss.
  • There are no points.

Game Tips

  • If you don't like the card you drew, draw another!
  • If there is confusion on a card, The Ranker has the ultimate choice. That doesn't mean you can't change their mind.
  • There is no time limit on debating. Feel free to add a timer for added pressure.
  • The Ranker can create any ranking scale they want, adding endless ways to rank a card! For example, if you draw the "Is It Soup?" card, you could rank it by "What tastes best" or "What I could eat for the rest of my life."
  • Think you know The Ranker best? Guess their ranking!
  • When you start to debate amongst yourselves and forget about The Ranker, you've hit nirvana.
