Introduction
Objective
Compete to fulfil multiple orders by attracting customers, fulfilling more orders, obtaining and using Chai Garam cards for extra actions, and buying more saucepans to serve more customers, they will be further expanding their little Tapri and getting more points.
Stars are valuable as players can use stars to unlock upgrades for their Tapri, making them more efficient at preparing and serving tea.
Once any player has 4 (Basic) or 5 (Advanced) stars, the game ends, and players count their points from their stars, money, chai cups, and customer receipts. The player with the most points wins the game of Chai Garam!
Important: Chai Garam has two game modes: Basic Game (Cutting Chai) and Advanced Game (Kadak Chai). For your first game, we recommend playing the Basic Game to get familiar with the game.
The rulebook will be using the words "chai" and "tea" interchangeably.

Setup for your first game
- Place the Central Board (Mela).
- Prepare the Customer Draw Deck: a. Keep the Evening Customer aside (The card with the Closed sign). b. Shuffle all the other Customer Cards. c. Divide the Customer cards into roughly two halves and keep both facedown. d. Place the Evening Customer Card facedown on one of the half-decks and place the other half-deck on top. e. Place the newly prepared Customer Draw Deck beside the Mela Board.
- Prepare the Market: a. The Market consists of the Ingredients: Tea Leaves, Basics, Additives, and Snacks. b. Remove a number of "Water" cards equal to the number of players from the Basics deck and keep them aside for later - i.e. if there are 3 players, remove 3 "Water" cards. c. Remove all of the "Pakora" cards from the Snacks deck and return them to the game box (They are only used in the Advanced Mode). d. Now shuffle all the Tea Leaves Cards and keep them face down to the left of the Mela. Draw the top three cards and place them faceup in a row alongside the Tea Leaves deck. e. Repeat the same process with all the other Ingredient cards (Basics, Additives). i.e. You may place each deck and their corresponding row of face up cards below the Tea Leaves deck and row. f. Shuffle and place the Snacks deck face down below the other Ingredients. Do not draw or place any Snack cards. g. Remove all the zero '0' cost Medium size Saucepan Cards and keep them aside for later. h. Separate the Saucepan cards into their three types (Small, Medium, Large) and keep them in distinct face-up decks next to the market.
- Prepare the Goals:
a. Shuffle the Goals cards. Place them face down on the top right space above the Mela. This is the Goals deck.
b. Then draw cards from the top depending on the number of players:
- For 2-3 players, draw 3 Goal cards
- For 4 players, draw 4 Goal cards c. Place the cards face up next to the Goals draw deck in any order. These become the Public Goals for all players.
- Place the Star tokens, Chai Garam cards, Coins, and Negative (Red coins with value 1) tokens within easy reach of all players.
- Draw the top 9 cards from the Customer draw deck and place them faceup in the 3 x 3 grid, starting with the top row. These are the first customers of the day, waiting for their cup(s) of Chai!
Next, each player takes the following components:
- 1 Player Board/Tapri
- 1 Upgrade Board
- 12 Cup tokens of their player color
- 3 Upgrade tokens
- 1 "Zero cost" Medium Saucepan Card
- 1 Water card (from those kept aside)
- 1 Chai Garam card from the Chai Garam deck
- 1 Goal card from the top of the Goals deck. This becomes their Personal Goal card
- 1 Player Reference card
The player who most recently had a cup of Chai is the First Player for the game. All other players gain a starting benefit.
- The Second Player draws a Tea Leaf card from the top of the Tea Leaves deck.
- The Third Player draws a Tea Leaf and an Additive card from the top of the respective decks.
- The Fourth Player draws a Tea Leaf, an Additive, and a Basics card from the top of the respective decks.
This ensures a balanced start for all players, since the game ends immediately when any player has their fourth star.
Core Game Concepts
Ingredients and Recipes
To prepare a cup of tea in Chai Garam, you need the Basics and Tea Leaves cards.
- Basics (3): Water, Milk and Sugar.
- Tea Leaves (4): Assam, Darjeeling, Kashmiri, Nilgiri. (Assam and Darjeeling are Black Tea Leaves; Kashmiri and Nilgiri are Green Tea Leaves.)
Recipes (3). You can prepare three types of Chai: Black Tea, Milk Tea, and Green Tea.
- Green Tea: Any Green Tea Leaf and Water
- Black Tea: Any Black Tea Leaf and Water
- Milk Tea: Any Black Tea Leaf, Water, Milk, and Sugar
The base price of Black Tea and Green Tea is 1 Rupee each, and the base price of Milk Tea is 2 Rupees.
However, most customers may request specific tea leaves or additives to be added to their Chai. For this privilege, they are prepared to pay more than the base price.
Additives (6): Elaichi (Cardamom), Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Lemon, Tulsi (Holy Basil)
Snacks (5): Biscuits, Bun maska, Pakora, Samosa, and Rusk. Customers may also be served Snacks. These are not requested by the customer, but snacks always have a benefit. Some snacks have a restriction on when they can be played - i.e. Biscuit, Bun Maska, Rusk, Samosa can only be played during a Serve action.
- Biscuits: Play during a Serve Action to gain +1 Rupee for every cup served in the entire action.
- Bun Maska: Play during a Serve Action to serve any one cup of Chai as if it were a specific service for 1 Customer.
- Rusk: Play during a Serve Action to serve Chai to any number of customers on any row or column in the Mela. Do not take or add any negative tokens.
- Samosa: Play during a Serve Action to gain twice the money for any specific service.
- Pakora: Play to Call all Customer to your Tapri, observing any Tapri limits, and gain 2 Rupees per added Customer. (Advanced Game; Pakora tag.)
Customers
At the heart of the game, we have the Customers who are always right. Each customer has several features and requirements.
Customer Types: Brown, Cyan, Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow customers.
Tags
The top right of every Customer card has at least one icon (tag). You can ignore these tags for your first game. They will be explained in the Advanced Game rules.
Customer Order
Each Customer is looking for a number of cups of a specific type of Tea. (e.g. the Green Customer requires one cup of Milk Tea while the Yellow Customer requires two cups of Black Tea).
Additionally, a Customer may require a specific Tea Leaf recipe. (e.g. The Yellow Customer wants Assam Leaf in their Black Tea. The Green Customer is fine with any Tea Leaf used in their Milk Tea.)
They may also require Additives.
Order Value
Each Customer has a price that they are willing to pay for each cup (e.g, If you fulfil the Yellow Customer's order, you will get 2 Rupees or 4 Rupees accordingly).
Tolerance Level
The tolerance level of the customer is listed in a red circle at the bottom left of the card.
Star Ratings
Some customers are celebrities or critics and have a Half-Star on the left of the card (e.g. The Blue Customer has a half-star.). If any player specifically serves this customer, they earn this half-star and add it to their Tapri. (For more on specific service, please see the Serve main action.)
The Mela (Main Board)
The Rows (Queues) of the Mela: Customers wait in three rows (queues), with each row starting from the left up to 3 spaces. Any customer in the left most position of a queue is the first customer of that queue; any customer in position second and third of a queue are the second and third customer respectively. The topmost row is the first row, the middle is the second row, and the bottom row is the third row.
The Columns of the Mela: Players may also treat each group of the same numbers (1s, 2s, 3s) as columns - i.e. There are three columns, each made of the same number; these are the first column (made of 1s), second column (made of 2s), and third column (made of 3s).
Important! Players can only serve customers in the same row or column.
Goal Cards
Players gain half-stars from fulfilling the requirements of different Goal Cards. These Goal cards are just one of many ways to earn Half-Stars in the game. Earn a Half-Star by claiming the Goal Card.
Half-Stars
Players begin with zero stars. Players can earn half-stars by
- completing Public and Personal Goal Cards
- specifically serving any customer with a half-star.
- gaining a specialisation in a particular Tea Leaf (only in the Advanced Game)
- completely fulfilling three customers in one action at their own Tapri (only in the Advanced Game.)
For every full star (two half-stars) a player gains, they must immediately choose one of the six upgrades (or nine upgrades in the Advanced Game) on their Upgrade Board and put an upgrade token on the empty slot to indicate it is unlocked. A Full Star allows the player to upgrade their tapri.
The player can now reap the benefits of that upgrade. Players may only gain three upgrades in this manner as the game ends when any player earns their fourth star.
A Player's Turn
In their turn, a player may take one Main Action and any number of Free Actions. They may play a single Chai Garam card to give themselves an additional Main Action.
There are 2 types of Main Actions and 7 types of Free Actions in the Basic Game.
Main Action (Choose One)
- Pick Ingredients/Snacks from Market
- Serve Chai to Customers
Free Actions (Choose any number)
- Prepare Chai
- Claim Goal(s)
- Play a Chai Garam card (to get another Main Action or remove negative tokens from customers before serving)
- Buy an additional Saucepan
- Empty a Saucepan
- Swap Saucepans
It is recommended that the players always decide and describe their sequence of actions when carrying them out to the other players at the table for clarification and smooth play.
Main Actions
1. Pick Action
Players may pick up to 3 cards from the Market while keeping in mind that: a. A player may only pick one Snack Card as part of this Main Action. The player picks directly from the top of the Snack Deck. b. As soon as a player picks any ingredient from a visible row, it immediately gets refilled from the corresponding deck. c. These Ingredient cards are added directly to their hand. d. A player can hold a maximum of 9 Ingredient cards. If a player exceeds the hand limit, they can first pick up their new cards and then discard down to their Hand Limit at the end of their action. e. A player's hand is hidden from other players.
2. Serve Action
Players can serve chai prepared on their saucepans to customers in the Mela to gain money, half-stars, and customer receipts.
Players may also gain penalties by serving customers out of order, and customers may get disgruntled because other customers were served out of order.
The Serve action has several steps that a player must follow in order:
- Must have Chai in their Saucepan: A player must have at least 1 cup of a matching type of Chai prepared in their saucepan prior to the Serve action. (See the Prepare Chai action.)
- Serve a Row or Column: A player must always serve between one to three customers in a single row or column in the Mela (or Tapri in the Advanced Game).
- Simple Service or Specific Service: A player must choose to either simply serve or specifically serve the order of each customer.
- Partial or Completely Fulfil Order: A player may also choose to partially or completely fulfil the order of each customer - i.e. the player may serve a single cup instead of the two demanded by the customer.
- Add Penalties: There are penalties for serving customers out of order, so a player calculates the penalties and checks the customers' tolerance levels to see if they will leave the Mela.
- Collect Money, Receipts, and Half-Stars: For those completely fulfilled orders, a player collects the appropriate money, the Customer Card(s) as Receipt(s), and any Half-Stars from the supply.
Let us look at each step in more detail.
-
Must have Chai in their Saucepan: A player must have at least 1 cup of a matching type of Chai prepared in their saucepan prior to the Serve action. There may be more or less ingredients than necessary or demanded, but the basic type of Chai should match - Green Tea, Black Tea, etc.
-
Serve a Column or Row: A player must serve customers in a single row or column. Players cannot serve people in multiple rows or columns. However, players are allowed to skip over a customer or two in a row or column (i.e. a player may serve the third customer in the top queue, or the top and middle customer in the second column).
-
Simple Service or Specific Service. On every Customer card, the exact types of Tea (Black, Milk, Green), Tea Leaf, and Additives wanted by the customer may be listed.
-
Simple Service: A player can serve just the type of Tea listed on the customer card and be paid the standard price. The standard prices are 1 Rupee for each Black or Green Tea, and 2 Rupees for each Milk Tea.
For Example: The customer demands Black Tea with Darjeeling Leaf and 1 Additive. Since the player was able to serve Black tea with Assam Leaf (and no additive), it qualifies as a Simple Service (since it is Black Tea after all) and gains 1 rupee (instead of 3 rupees) per cup.
Important! Any simple service will never have all of the specific requirements of the customer; however, it may have fewer or extra Ingredients. The customer does not feel special or satisfied with this cup of chai.
-
Specific Service: A player must serve a cup of chai that matches every specific requirement of the customer. This means your Tea should have the exact Tea type, Tea Leaf type and Additive type. The prices are as indicated on the customer card.
Important! You must have at least those exact Ingredients requested by the customer. Anything extra is considered as on the house. The customer appreciates this kind of attentive service and pays more for each such cup i.e. whatever is printed on the customer cards.
Hint: Specifically serving a customer's order earns you much more money than simply serving the same order, but sometimes because of your personal goals and the public goals, you might want to obtain certain customers faster by doing a simple serve.
- Partial or Complete Fulfilment: Whenever a player serves a customer, the player checks if they have completely fulfilled the order. Some customers require two cups of chai; Thus, if a player is only able to serve one of the two cups, that player keeps a single chai cup token on the customer and considers the order partially fulfilled or incomplete. They might be able to finish serving the Customer in a future turn, unless another player serves the Customer and completely fulfils the order before they do.
The Chai Garam Card Reward! (Basic Game)
If you serve at least one cup of Chai to three Mela customers in any single row or column in a single turn, you gain a Chai Garam card and add it to your hand. The type of service (simple or specific) does not matter, so a player can mix services. Refer to Chai Garam card under Free Actions to know more about how to use it.
- Add Penalty: After fulfilling a customer's order but before collecting any money, players must check if there are any disgruntled customers. a. In each row where a customer was served, all unserved customers to the left of the served customer will gain a negative (red) token on the card. These customers are now disgruntled. Their willingness to spend has decreased by 1 Rupee per cup. Any future negative tokens will further decrease their willingness to spend. b. The player now checks whether the tolerance level of each of the unserved customers has been reached. If so, the customer(s) will leave. (i.e. A customer with a tolerance of two will leave once there are two negative tokens on them). Discard those customer cards, and return the negative tokens to the supply. c. If the player has disgruntled at least one customer, the player immediately collects a single negative token.
Important! Negative tokens on customers contribute to decreasing their tolerance level and their willingness to pay; players serving customers with negative tokens do not gain these negative tokens, they simply get less payment from these customers.
- Collect Money, Customer Receipts, and Half-Stars: a. Money: If a player did a simple service, players get 1 Rupee for every Black Tea or Green Tea, and 2 Rupees for every Milk Tea. If a player did a specific service, they collect the amount on the Customer card. Remember! Players will gain less money for negative tokens on the card; i.e. for every negative token on a customer, a player receives 1 Rupee less per cup than they would have. In some cases, a customer may not pay anything. b. Customer Receipts: If one player alone has served the entire order of 1 or 2 cups (i.e. they alone have their cup tokens on a customer), then they may take that customer card and add it to their play area as a customer receipt. All cup tokens are returned to respective players and negative tokens (if any) on the card are discarded.
Remember! If a Customer has more than one player's cup token (i.e. several players served that Customer), then the customer is discarded. (i.e. No player gets the receipt) c. Half-Stars: A player gets Half-stars during a Serve action if they specifically serve a Celebrity or Critic (a customer with a half-star.) If you get multiple Half-Stars from a single Serve action, you should count them cumulatively and flip them accordingly into full-stars. For every new full-star, you can choose an upgrade. For example: If a player gains three half-stars on a particular turn, they can add it to their previous full-stars and adjust. If they had one full-star at the start of the turn, they would now have two and a half full-stars now and could choose one new upgrade.
Once a player has finished serving a customer and collected their money, receipts, and stars, they must slide to the left any remaining customers in order to fill in spaces in each row; players then replenish the Mela with new customers by adding them from the right of each row until there are 9 customers again in the Mela.
Free Actions
Players can do optional actions as often as they are able and willing to do so.
1. Prepare Chai
When preparing chai, players have to follow these steps:
a. Put Ingredients in Saucepan: Players prepare chai by taking 1 of each of the required ingredients for a particular type of tea (Black, Green, or Milk tea) and placing them on the saucepan(s) in their Tapri. A player must add all ingredients at once for a specific type of Tea. (i.e. The player cannot add fewer cards than the recipe requires). For Example: A player intending to make Milk Tea must place one card each of milk, water, sugar, and any Tea Leaf in a large saucepan. Once the basic recipe is ready, a player may add any additives they wish.
Remember! Ingredients cannot be shared between saucepans.
An Exception! You cannot add Lemon to Milk Tea. You do not want the milk to curdle!
b. Put Cups of Chai: Once a player has finalised their ingredients, they must immediately place on the saucepan a number of their cup tokens equal to the size of the saucepan. Eg. A player places two cup tokens in a small saucepan or four cup tokens in a large saucepan. The chai is now ready to be served. (Small saucepan: 2 cups; Medium saucepan: 3 cups; Large saucepan: 4 cups.)
Important: Players cannot add or change any Ingredients in the saucepan once they have placed their cups.
c. Prepare New Saucepan: Once a player serves the last cup token from a saucepan with ingredients, the player must discard all ingredients in the saucepan to a common discard pile. The saucepan can now be used to prepare chai again.
2. Claim a Goal
A player can claim a Public or Personal Goal in their turn. They must immediately show that they have achieved the criteria and, if needed, discard the appropriate customer receipts.
- Immediately add a half-star for each goal claimed.
- If a player can claim multiple goals in a single turn, the player must claim them one at a time. Once a player uses a customer receipt to claim a goal, the player immediately discards the customer receipt.
- If a player claims a Personal goal, they can draw a new card from the Goal Draw Deck at the end of their turn. They can only ever have one unfulfilled Personal Goal.
- If a player claims a Public Goal, they discard it and add a new card to the Public Goal display at the end of their turn.
3. Upgrade
For each full-star that a player receives, they can unlock powerful upgrades to a player's Tapri. They choose one of the available upgrades on their Upgrade board and add an upgrade token to the slot. (i.e. You get a maximum of three upgrades as the game ends when anyone gets their fourth star.)
The upgrades and their benefits are: a. Free Water: You now do not need a Water card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan. b. Free Sugar: You now do not need a Sugar card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan. c. Free Milk: You now do not need a Milk card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan. d. Pick 4: A player may now pick up to 4 Ingredients. However, they must still observe the limit of picking only one Snack card per Pick action. e. Hand Size 12: The player's hand size increases to 12 cards. As before, the hand size applies to only Ingredient Cards (Basics, Tea Leaves, Additives, and Snacks.) f. Tips: For every customer served in Mela, a player gains an additional Rupee (+1) as tip.
4. Chai Garam
Discard an available Chai Garam card from your hand (if you have one) anytime during your turn to do one of the following actions: a. Take an additional Main Action (Pick or Serve). b. Remove all the negative tokens on the customer order cards that the player plans to fulfil.
Remember that:
- You can only play one Chai Garam card on your turn.
- You can only hold two Chai Garam cards at any given time.
- You can play it before or after any Free Action(s).
- You must declare to the other players which additional Main action you are taking.
- You must declare which customer orders you will be fulfilling before discarding the negative tokens on the cards.
5. Buy a Saucepan
Once per turn, a player can buy any saucepan from the available saucepan cards to add to your Tapri. The player pays the cost on the card and must immediately add it to any empty slot on the Tapri. (i.e. A player cannot purchase a saucepan if all three slots of their Tapri are full). There are three slots for your saucepans in your Tapri. Each slot can hold exactly one Saucepan of any size. You start out with one Medium Saucepan, but you can add more by spending money and buying new saucepans.
6. Empty Saucepan
Alternatively, a player may choose to empty a saucepan by discarding any chai cups and ingredients on a saucepan. The player will then get a penalty for wasting chai - for every cup of chai wasted, a player gets one negative token.
7. Swap Saucepans
Players can move and swap only empty saucepans to and from their stove.
End Game Conditions & Scoring (Basic Game)
The game ends at the end of a player's turn in which any of the following conditions occurs. a. A player completes four stars. b. The Evening Customer is served by a player. c. The Evening Customer is removed from the Mela because their tolerance level is reached (i.e. They get fully disgruntled).
Players then calculate their individual scores. Each player will get points for the Stars, Money, Receipts, and unserved Chai Cups in their Tapri. a. Stars: Every completed (full-star) star is worth one point (1). A half-star is worth a half point (0.5) b. Money: Players first resolve all negative tokens (if any) and remove the corresponding amounts before they calculate their final money score. Every 10 Rupees rounded down is worth a half point (0.5). c. Customer Receipts: Every six unused customer receipts in your play areas is worth a half point (0.5). d. Chai Cups: Every six cups of unserved Chai in your saucepans is worth a half point (0.5)
WINNER! The player with the most total wins! In case players are tied, the tied player with the highest star rating wins. If players are still tied, the tied players all share their victory.
Advanced Game (Kadak Chai)
Setup
Once you are familiar with the Basic Game of Chai Garam, you can play the Advanced Game of Chai Garam. The setup and gameplay is mostly similar to that of the beginners' mode with some added rule changes and additional actions.
- Add the Tea Leaf Specializations and the Funfair mini-board alongside the Mela board. 01. Stack the four types of Tea Leaf Tokens on the designated spaces on the Tea Leaf Specialisation board. In a 2 or 3 player game, remove 2 or 1 of each type of Tea Leaf tokens respectively. 02. Place the Tips marker on a random space on the Funfair wheel.
- All the Snack cards will be used. (i.e. Do not remove the Pakora cards from the Snack Deck).
- Players must use the Advanced Upgrade board and start with 4 upgrade tokens. The Advanced Upgrade board has nine different upgrade options.
Fun-fair Bonus Track
Each time a player does a specific service and completely fulfils a customer, they move one space on the Bonus Track and collect the bonuses immediately.
The bonuses are in the form of extra Tips (+1 or +2 Rupees per customer) or free immediate card draws from Market (Draw blind from either Tea Leaf, Basics, Additive decks).
Important! If a player does a mix of simple and specific services, they move the token only for those customers fulfilled by a specific service.
Customer Tags
Every Customer has icon(s) printed on the top right of the card. These Customer Tags are what these customers desire, what they are looking for!
There are seven possible Tags on Customer cards, and several ways for players to earn these tags.
- Tea Leaf Specialisations: A player can collect this by claiming a Tea Leaf Specialization goal. A player can collect only one of each of the 4 specializations available.
- Aroma: This tag can be unlocked as an upgrade on a player's Tapri.
- Hygiene: This tag can be unlocked as an upgrade on a player's Tapri.
- Pakora: You can now discard the Pakora card to instead call up to 3 customers to your Tapri (4 if you have the upgrade). You immediately gain 2 Rupees per customer.
New Free Action: Call a Customer
Call is a new Free Action in the Advanced Game. However, it can only be taken immediately after doing a Serve action and only once the Mela is refilled. Players can use the Call action to pick any one customer from the Mela, whose customer tag(s) matches one of the tags earned by the player in their Tapri. The player adds the customer to their Personal Queue below the Tapri.
They also remove all negative tokens on that customer as that customer is happy to pay in full. However, a player must keep any cup of chai already on the customer.
There are several benefits to having Customers in a player's Personal Queue.
- Players increase the number of customers they can serve. When taking a Serve action, players can, in addition to serving 1-3 customers in the Mela in a row or column, also serve any amount of Chai to any number of their Tapri customers, with the same serving rules.
- Furthermore, there is no penalty for serving Customers out of order (i.e. Tapri customers never get disgruntled).
- Players can also get the Funfair bonuses for serving and completely fulfilling their own Tapri customers.
- Only the Tapri owner player can serve Chai to their Tapri customers.
- Other players cannot call from an opponent's Tapri.
- A player can earn a Chai Garam card if they serve at least one cup of Chai to three customers (if present) in their Personal Queue.
There are some restrictions to a player's Personal Queue.
- A player's personal queue can have a maximum of three customers.
- To make space for new Customers in a player's Personal queue, a player must serve Chai to them.
- A player collects the customer receipt observing all the rules. (i.e. A player can only collect the receipt if there are only their own cups on the Customer. If any other player's cups are there, they need to discard the customer receipt after fulfilling.)
Tea Leaf Specialisations
To get Tea Leaf Specialisation in a specific Tea Leaf type, a player needs to discard two (if the first to acquire) or three (if not the first) customer receipts with the same tea leaf customer tag as the specialisation they want to claim. They then add the specialisation to their Tapri as an earned Tag. The cost of the Goal is printed above the token area.
Each Specialization also gives a player a half-star. The Tea Leaf specialisation is considered a new Public Goal.
Earn a Half-Star by serving customers at your own tapri. If a player is able to both specifically serve and specifically fulfil three Tapri Customers, a player gets the three customer receipts, a Chai Garam card instantly, Bonuses and a Half-Star.
Advanced Upgrades
As players will be using the Advanced side of the Tapri board, there will be nine available upgrades to choose from whenever they complete a star. The 6 basic upgrades are the same except for "Tips".
- Hygiene: A player obtains the Hygiene Tag. A player does not gain any negative tokens for serving out of order. However, customer cards get disgruntled and gain negative tokens as normal.
- Aroma: A player obtains the Aroma tag. They can pick one available Additive card for free after a Serve action. You get one Additive card no matter how many customers you serve.
- Free Water: You now do not need a Water card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan.
- Free Sugar: You now do not need a Sugar card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan.
- Free Milk: You now do not need a Milk card to prepare chai for the rightmost saucepan.
- Pick 4: A player may now pick up to 4 Ingredients. However, they must still observe the limit of picking only one Snack card per Pick action.
- Hand Size 12: The player's hand size increases to 12 cards. As before, the hand size applies to only Ingredient Cards (Basics, Tea Leaves, Additives, and Snacks).
- Seats: A player can now call up to two Customers in one Call action. Their Tapri can now hold up to four Customers.
- Tips: For every customer served in the Tapri, a player gains an additional Rupee (+1) as tip.
