Pack Contents

The BGG description lists the pack as: Monsters: Malvern, Wraithvern, Djinn. Heroes: Morinda, Surlafeure, Rha, Bo. It is said to work with both Catacombs (Third Edition) and Catacombs & Castles.

The images show the following components:

  • Monster cards: Malvern and Wraithvern.
  • Hero cards: Morinda (Witch's Cat), Surlafeure (Vampire Queen), and Rhabo (Goblin Boar Rider), shown as one card with one name banner.
  • Sticker sheets: two sheets of monster and hero tokens, printed with the codes ELZ-1501-S01-001 and ELZ-1501-S02-001.
  • Discs: black, green and purple discs, bagged as shown in the component photo.

The Djinn monster card and a separate Bo hero card are not visible in any image (see Gaps below).

Monsters

Malvern

Printed card (front), from the photo of a physical copy. The printed title "Malvern" sits on a green banner at the top, with a dark drop icon carrying a white dash at the top right of the banner. The card art shows a green and yellow wyvern. A panel of shot icons sits over the bottom of the art. The footer reads "WYVERN".

Card contents. The card prints the following, read top to bottom and left to right:

  1. Title. "Malvern".
  2. Dark drop icon with a white dash, at the top right of the title banner. This is the invulnerable icon.
  3. Icon panel, in two rows separated by a brown bar, with a vertical divider in each row:
    1. Top left: a white fist on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a white bat-winged shape with fangs on a black disc.
    2. Top right: a white chevron group on a black disc, then a grey sound-wave mark, then a ring icon with a black centre.
    3. Bottom left: a white chevron group on a black disc, then a grey sound-wave mark, then a red ring icon with a black centre.
    4. Bottom right: a green ring icon with a black centre, marked with the printed words "Overseer only" and a curved arrow pointing to the ring.
  4. Type footer, bottom left: a black curved claw-shaped mark and the word "WYVERN".

The card has no printed rules text. The copyright line in the bottom corner is omitted as attribution.

Malvern: Shot Sequences

The card prints four icon groups. Read as shot sequences:

  • Top left: a melee shot, then a bite shot.
  • Top right: a rush shot, then the ring shot shown with the sound-wave mark. The ring shot is not identified (see notes).
  • Bottom left: a rush shot, then the red ring shot shown with the sound-wave mark. The red ring shot is not identified (see notes).
  • Bottom right: the green ring shot, which is marked "Overseer only".

Malvern: Notes on the Icons

  • Shot sequences. The ">" between icons is the "Then" connector, which the base rulebook defines as performing the shots in a row, in that order. The top-right and bottom-left groups have no ">" between the chevrons and the ring, so they are listed in the order printed, with the sound-wave mark between them left unidentified. This reading is a judgment call.
  • Melee shot. The white fist is read as the melee shot, which the base rulebook defines as a character shot inflicting one point of damage by default.
  • Rush shot. The white chevron group is read as the rush shot, which the base rulebook defines as a character shot with no damage. The base rulebook prints no chevron glyph; this reading is a judgment call, the same one used in the Wyvern Monarch promo.
  • Bite shot. The bat-winged shape with fangs is read as the bite shot, which the base rulebook defines as a character shot inflicting two points of damage. The base rulebook prints no glyph for the bite shot; this reading is a judgment call, based on the fangs and on the shot's name.
  • Sound-wave mark. The grey sound-wave mark is not identified. Neither the base rulebook nor the Wyverns of Wylemuir rulebook prints a glyph for it, so it is transcribed as printed and is not given a rules meaning here.
  • Ring icons. The black-centred ring, the red ring and the green ring are not identified. The base rulebook names a Target shot, but prints no glyph for it, so none of the rings is read as a named shot here. The colour of the red and green rings is transcribed as printed.
  • "Overseer only". The printed words, with the arrow pointing to the green ring, are transcribed as printed. The base rulebook says the Overseer controls monsters, so the green ring shot is performed by the Overseer alone.
  • Invulnerable icon. The dark drop icon with a white dash is read as the invulnerable icon. The base rulebook says invulnerable characters, including wyverns, cannot be damaged or destroyed and are immune to all shots and shot modifiers.

Malvern: Kickstarter Promo Art (Variant)

The Kickstarter-page promo art (BGG image 4373678) shows a Malvern card whose icon panel does not match the printed card above. It is recorded here as a separate variant, not merged into the printed reading.

Its panel shows:

  • Top left: a fist on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a bat-winged shape on a black disc.
  • Top right: three chevrons on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a green downward-pointing triangle on a black disc.
  • Bottom: three chevrons on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a green ring with a black centre on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then three chevrons on a black disc.

The promo art shows no "Overseer only" wording and no sound-wave mark. The two images may come from different print runs or from a pre-release render; the source does not say which. The card names, the banner and the footer match. The triangle icon is not identified.

Wraithvern

Promo art only, from the Kickstarter-page image (BGG image 4373678). No printed copy of this card was shown, so the card is transcribed from the art. The title "Wraithvern" sits on a green banner, with a dark drop icon carrying a white dash at the top right. The footer reads "WYVERN".

Its icon panel shows:

  • Top left: a fist on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a bat-winged shape on a black disc.
  • Top right: a black disc with a blue vertical bar, then a ">" connector, then three chevrons on a black disc.
  • Bottom: a fist on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then three chevrons on a black disc, then a ">" connector, then a black disc with a blue vertical bar. Printed beneath the last disc is the text "P|V".

Shot sequences, read as above:

  • Top left: a melee shot, then a bite shot.
  • Top right: the blue-bar icon, then a rush shot. The blue-bar icon is not identified.
  • Bottom: a melee shot, then a rush shot, then the blue-bar icon. The blue-bar icon is not identified.

Notes. The fist, bat-winged shape, chevrons and ">" connector are read as in the Malvern notes above. The base rulebook gives the blue colour to the stun shot modifier, but the blue-bar icon is not a named glyph in the base rulebook, so no meaning is given to it here. The text "P|V" is transcribed as printed; neither the base rulebook nor the Wyverns of Wylemuir rulebook explains it. The dark drop icon is read as the invulnerable icon, as for Malvern.

Djinn

No image of the Djinn monster card is included in the source. The Djinn is named in the BGG description only, so it is not transcribed.

Heroes

The three hero cards in the promo art show no icon panel and no printed rules text. Each shows its name, a subtitle, a small skull mark at the top left of the name banner, and a footer reading "CATACOMB HERO". No shot sequences are visible on any of them, so none is transcribed.

Morinda, Witch's Cat

Printed name "Morinda" on the banner, subtitle "Witch's Cat". Art shows a blue cat with a gold collar. Footer "CATACOMB HERO".

Surlafeure, Vampire Queen

Printed name "Surlafeure" on the banner, subtitle "Vampire Queen". Art shows a pale-skinned woman with a crown, chained. Footer "CATACOMB HERO".

Rhabo, Goblin Boar Rider

Printed name "Rhabo" on the banner, subtitle "Goblin Boar Rider". Art shows a goblin riding a boar. Footer "CATACOMB HERO".

The BGG description names the heroes "Rha" and "Bo" as two separate heroes. The promo image shows only the single card Rhabo, so the name is transcribed as printed and the two names are not split here.

Gaps and Notes on the Source

  • No rules document. No Elzra rules document, no publisher manual, and no complete third-party rules text for Wyldlands was found. The sources checked were the BGG item and its images, the Tesera alias (not found), and the Elzra manual downloads (not reachable). This file is a transcription of card art only.
  • Djinn and Bo. The Djinn monster card and a separate Bo hero card are not present in any image, so they are not transcribed.
  • Hero abilities. The promo art shows the heroes without icon panels or rules text, so the hero shot sequences are not available from these sources.
  • Malvern versions. The printed card and the Kickstarter promo art show different icon panels for Malvern. Both are recorded above. The printed card is the more reliable reading because it is a photo of a physical copy; the promo art may be a render.
  • Wraithvern. Only the promo art is available. It is transcribed as shown, with the blue-bar icon left unidentified.
  • Icon readings. Several glyphs are not identified in the base rulebook (the sound-wave mark, the ring icons, the green triangle and the blue bar). They are transcribed as printed and marked as unidentified, not given a guessed rules meaning.
  • Footer. The black curved claw-shaped mark and the word "WYVERN" are read as the card's type and family. The printed copyright line is omitted as attribution.
