41 traffic sign cards, 1 start/finish section, 5 World Grand Prix tokens, 4 car figures, 4 stands, 1 die.
Setup
Before the first game, carefully push the traffic signs, the start/finish section, the World Grand Prix tokens and the figures out of the perforated boards.
Lay out all 41 traffic signs in a circle to form the race track. The order of the signs does not matter, but take care not to place two identical signs next to each other. Place the start/finish section between any two traffic signs.
Fix each of the 4 car figures into a stand. Each player chooses one car with its stand and places it on the start/finish section. Place the die and the World Grand Prix tokens beside the race track.
The goal of the game is to win two Grand Prix tokens after a certain number of races (rounds).
And Let's Go!
The youngest player starts, and players take turns clockwise. The player whose turn it is rolls the die and moves their car towards the finish line by as many traffic signs as the number shown on the die. Several cars may stand on the same traffic sign at once.
The traffic sign on which your turn ended determines what happens:
Speed Limit: Even on a race track there is sometimes a speed limit! If you roll a number that is less than or equal to the number on the traffic sign, you may roll again. If you roll a higher number, the next player rolls.
Oil Barrel: You have a tank filled to the brim, so get going! You may roll the die once more.
Mater: But surely not! You have run over a nail and now have a punctured tyre. You must call Mater to tow you. The next player rolls.
Road Works: Road works are in progress, so you must use a detour. If the road works cover a short section, move your car back 2 spaces. If they cover a long section, move your car back 4 spaces.
Guido: You have had a minor accident and must call Guido to repair your car, so you miss one turn. Place your figure beside the traffic sign. On your next turn, place the figure back on the sign but do not roll. You may roll only when you come to turn again, and then you can move on.
World Grand Prix Tokens
The racer who first reaches the finish line, or who first passes through it, wins a Grand Prix token, which they place on the table in front of them. This ends the first race! Return all cars to the starting line and begin another round.
Tip: Before the next round, change the order of the traffic signs. This varies the game a little!
The game ends when one of the players wins the second World Grand Prix token. This player wins the whole race and becomes the winner of the great World Grand Prix!
