How to Play Card Assassins
Contents: 42 Kill Word cards, 6 Assassin cards, 6 Target cards, 1 Rule card, and 1 Promo card.
Objective: Assassinate as many players as you can by getting them to say one of your Kill Words.
Setup: Card Assassins is a background game, so you should play while doing other things like attending a party, camping, or while playing another game!
To set up, separate and create a deck for each type of card: Kill Words (black cards), Assassin, and Target cards. Shuffle the Kill Words deck, and place it to the side.
For each player, place 1 Assassin card on the table face up next to one another. Place the matching Target card face up on top of each Assassin card (Ex. Target Belch on Assassin Belch). Flip all pairs of cards over, so they're facing down. While keeping each pair together, shuffle all the pairs around the table.
Line up the shuffled pairs next to one another again. Shift each topmost card 1 pile to the right (rightmost card can go on the leftmost pile). Now, randomly give each player a pair. Discreetly hand a Kill Word card to each player, dealing from the bottom of the deck. Decide which side (Dagger or Poison) players will choose Kill Words from, and let everyone know.
Gameplay: After all players have cards, players introduce themselves by presenting their Assassin card, revealing their identity.
Your goal is to assassinate your Target by getting them to say 1 of your 3 Kill Words. If you succeed, yell "ASSASSINATED!" They are now eliminated, and you're on to your next target. The assassinated player gives their Kill Word and Target cards to you, which will replace your previous cards. Each player you assassinate gives you 1 Kill Point.
After some players have been assassinated, you may assassinate someone who was targeting you. If so, you become Rogue. A Rogue player can target any player with the Kill Words that were meant to assassinate them. However, any player can also target a Rogue player using their Kill Words (so keep quiet if you're Rogue).
End of Game: The game can end in a few ways. You can set a time limit, and the player with the most Kill Points at the end wins, or you can play until there's only 1 player left. Regardless, if a player becomes Rogue, and then kills anyone, the game ends immediately, and the player with the most Kill Points wins. In the event of a tie, assassins with the most Kill Points share the victory.
How to Play the Expansion
This section reproduces the printed "How to Play the Expansion" sheet, which accompanies the expansion's cards (Sticks & Stones).
Contents: 42 Kill Word cards, 6 Assassin cards, 6 Target cards, 1 Rule card, and 1 Promo card.
Objective: Assassinate as many players as you can by getting them to say one of your Kill Words.
Setup: The game is set up the same as the base game, however, you have more Target and Assassin cards to expand the number of players. By combining both the base game and this expansion, you can have up to 12 players.
It's recommended you don't mix the Kill Word cards from the base game with the expansion Kill Word cards in order to avoid confusion with which Kill Words players should reference.
Gameplay: Gameplay is identical to the base game.
End of Game: The game ends in the same ways as in the base game.
