Components
- 12 new landscape tiles with winter-themed motives.
Overview
The Winter is part of the 4 Seasons tile series with individual illustrations. You can use the tiles to expand the field or as a small mini-expansion.
Setup
Mix the 12 winter tiles with the landscape tiles from the base game.
This mini-expansion was developed for the Carcassonne base game, and its rules still apply. You can combine The Winter with other expansions. However, there will be no official rules for these combinations.
Playing the Game
1. Place a Land Tile
If you draw a winter tile, you place it according to the usual rules.
2. Place a Meeple
You can place one of your meeple on the winter tile according to the usual rules.
3. Score Points
For highwaymen and autumn tiles that are vertically, horizontally or diagonally adjacent to the winter tile you have placed, you immediately receive 2 points.
You receive no points for the winter tile you just placed.
Example: You (the red meeple icon marks the example player) place your drawn Winter tile. At the end of your turn you receive 6 points: 2 points for the autumn tile and 2 points each for the highwaymen. For the winter tile you just placed, you don't receive points in this move.
Winter-Edition Variation
For highwaymen and wild animals that are vertically, horizontally or diagonally adjacent to the winter tile you have placed, you immediately receive 2 points.
Statue Tiles
You will find 1 statue tile in each of the 4 Seasons.
The following rule applies to all 4 statue tiles of the 4 Seasons: If your tile is vertically, horizontally or diagonally adjacent to a statue tile of the 4 Seasons after being placed, you may place 2 meeple on this tile in different areas.
Example: You (the red meeple icon marks the example player) place the tile you have drawn on the winter statue. Now you place a meeple on the road and another meeple on the city there.
Note: The traffic circle at the statue is interrupted in the Winter by a snowman. There are therefore 2 roads on this tile.
