Components

  • 1 rulebook
  • 42 Order cards
  • 4 Reference cards
  • 27 candy bars in 3 colors (9 of each)
    • 12 cards showing 1 candy bar worth 3 points
    • 18 cards showing 2 candy bars worth 2 points
    • 12 cards showing 3 candy bars worth 1 point
  • 1 Golden Sugar card

Reference card summary of effects:

  • Draw the top card of the draw pile, or one of the 3 face-up cards.
  • Randomly discard a card from another player's hand.
  • Return a candy bar of the same color belonging to another player into play.
  • Discard the last card played by another player.
  • Swap your hand with that of another player.

Setup

  1. Randomly place all the candy bars, numbers and symbols visible, in the center of the table next to one another to form a row. This row of candy bars represents the conveyor belt along which the candy bars you must retrieve to fulfill your orders travel.

  2. Set the Golden Sugar card aside and deal one Reference card to each player.

  3. Shuffle the Order cards and deal them face down:

    • 5 cards per person in a 3- or 4-player game
    • 6 cards per person in a 2-player game

Special case for a 2-player game: after dealing 6 face-down cards per player, set aside, within reach of both players, 6 additional face-down cards to form a "third hand" that can be used during the game (see Two-Player Game).

  4. Form a draw pile with the remaining cards, then turn the top three cards face up next to the draw pile.

  5. Each player secretly looks at their cards.

  6. The last player to have eaten candy is designated as the first player.

How to Play

Players take turns in clockwise order. On your turn, you must perform one of these three actions:

  • A. Play a card from your hand to fulfill an order.
  • B. Return one to three of your candy bars into play to draw cards.
  • C. Draw a single card, if and only if you cannot play a card and have no more candy bars to return into play.

A. Play a card from your hand to fulfill an order

  1. Play a card from your hand to fulfill an order and place it face up in front of you. Throughout the game, stack the played cards so that other players can only see the last card placed.
  2. Retrieve the combination of candy bars shown on the card and place them in front of you.
  3. Then close up the remaining candy bars in the center row.
  4. Finally, if there are any, you must apply the effects of the candy bars (unless you retrieved the last candy bars in play; in that case, the effects no longer apply).

Notes

The value printed on the card indicates the number of points it will earn you at the end of the game.

The candy bars must be next to each other to be retrieved, but the card can be read in either direction. Example: the combination shown on a card could be blue / orange / pink or pink / orange / blue.

Wild candy bars. Multicolored candy bars are wild: they can replace any color. You can therefore retrieve the candy bar of the color of your choice!

Candy bar effects

You may apply the effects in any order you wish. If an effect cannot be carried out, nothing happens.

  • Draw the top card of the draw pile, or one of the 3 face-up cards. If a player draws a face-up card, immediately replace it with a card from the draw pile.
  • Randomly discard a card from another player's hand. Place it in the game box; it will no longer be used during the game.
  • Return a candy bar of the same color belonging to another player into play. The candy bar returned to play must be the same color as the candy bar that triggered the effect. The player's candy bar is placed at one of the two ends of the center row and its effect does not apply.
  • Discard the last card played by another player. Place it in the game box; it will not count toward the final score. This has no effect on the player's candy bars.
  • Swap your hand with that of another player. This effect can be activated by a player who has no cards left. In that case, the player subjected to the effect keeps one random card from their original hand. In a 2-player game, you may also swap with the "third hand" formed at the start of the game (see Two-Player Game).

Example

You played a card that lets you retrieve three candy bars, one of each color. Retrieve the candy bars in the combination, then apply their effects, in the order of your choice:

  1. Discard a card from another player's hand.
  2. Return a pink candy bar belonging to another player into play and place it at one of the ends of the center row. Since the candy bar that triggered the effect is pink, it is indeed a pink candy bar that must be returned to play, regardless of its value.
  3. Draw a card from the face-up or face-down draw pile.

Finally, place the three candy bars in front of you and close up the center row.

B. Return one to three of your candy bars to draw cards

Whenever you wish, or when you can no longer play a card, you may return one to three of your candy bars into play. Return them to the ends of the center row; you may split them between the two ends if you wish. Then draw a number of cards equal to the sum of the values of the candy bars returned to play, from the face-up or face-down draw pile. You must wait until your next turn to play a card. If you have no more candy bars to return to play, see action C.

Note: the effects of the candy bars returned to play do not apply.

Example

You can no longer play a card because you do not have the right combinations. You decide to return 3 candy bars of value 1 into play.

This action lets you draw 3 cards (1+1+1), from among the face-up or face-down cards of the draw pile. The effects of the candy bars returned to play do not apply.

C. Draw a single card, if and only if you cannot play a card and have no more candy bars to return to play

In this case, you must wait until your next turn to play this card.

End of Game

The game ends immediately:

  • When a player retrieves the last candy bar. In this case, that player wins the Golden Sugar card, which gives them a bonus of 3 additional points.
  • When a player draws the last face-down card of the draw pile. In this case, no player wins the Golden Sugar card.

Count your points by adding up the points of your candy bars and the Order cards fulfilled. The player with the most points wins the game and is elected Master Confectioner!

In case of a tie, the player with the most candy bar points wins. In case of another tie, the players share the title!

All that's left is to play again to put the title back on the line!

Tips

  • Don't necessarily wait until you can no longer play a card to return candy bars into play: plan ahead!
  • Cards worth 3 candy bars are easier to play at the start than at the end of the game, where the possible combinations become fewer.
  • Choose carefully which candy bars you return into play, as their effects will become available again.

Two-Player Game

After dealing 6 cards per player, set aside, within reach of both players, 6 additional cards to form a "third hand."

When a player retrieves a candy bar that lets them swap their hand, they have the choice of swapping it with the opposing player OR with the "third hand" formed at the start of the game.
