Goal of the Game

Complete as many orders as you can before Cakozaurus starts bringing up the cakes he has eaten!

Components

  • 1 Cakozaurus monster
  • 1 movement die
  • 1 game board
  • 1 cake dispenser in 2 parts: 1 tower and 1 funnel
  • 1 cloth bag
  • 1 mini scoop
  • 20 order cards
  • 58 cubes in 6 different colours, representing the following cakes:
    • 9 yellow banana cakes
    • 9 red chilli cakes
    • 11 blue blueberry cakes
    • 11 pink strawberry cakes
    • 12 green apple cakes
    • 6 transparent "joker" cakes

Set Up

(Set up example.)

  1. Unfold the game board and place it on the table.
  2. Assemble the cake dispenser by putting the tower in the hole in the middle of the game board, and then the funnel on top of the tower.
  3. Shuffle the Order cards without looking at them and place them in a face down pile next to the game board. Draw 6 Order cards and place them face up in front of the different bakery displays around the dispenser.
  4. Take 1 cube of each colour from the cloth bag and drop them into the funnel on top of the dispenser. All the other cubes in the cloth bag form the cake supply. Leave the mini scoop near the bag.
  5. Finally, place the Cakozaurus monster in front of the bakery display where the red chilli cake cube has fallen. Make sure his tongue is pointing towards the dispenser and that he is not touching any other component on the table. Put the movement die next to the monster.

WATCH OUT! Cakozaurus certainly has a ravenous appetite, but he's also a very sensitive beast! Always put him down carefully so that he doesn't topple over... or else that will be the end of the game!

The player who ate a cake most recently starts the game.

How to Play

Players take turns in clockwise order. When it is your turn, take the following actions in order:

  1. Using the mini scoop, without looking take one single scoop from the cloth bag to collect as many cubes as you like. Pour all those cubes into the funnel of the dispenser.

  2. Once all the cakes have fallen into a bakery display, you must either Move a cake or Empty a display.

Moving a Cake

Move 1 cake of your choice to the display on its left or its right.

Note: you can never move a red chilli cake!

Emptying a Display

Take all the cakes in a display of your choice, including any red chilli cakes, and drop them into the funnel on top of the dispenser.

  1. Now check if any orders can be completed. An order is completed when all the cakes in a display match the corresponding Order card.

Important: you can use 1 transparent "joker" cake in place of 1 cake of any colour. You can use as many transparent "joker" cakes as you like to complete an order.

If no orders can be completed on this turn: go directly to step 4.

For each completed order:

  • Take the corresponding cakes from the bakery display and put them back into the cloth bag. If the bakery display contains other cakes that are not needed for the order, leave them in the display.
  • Take the Order card and put it on the table next to the gameboard. Draw the top Order card from the pile and put it face up next to the display from which the last order was taken.

If there are no more Order cards left in the pile, keep playing by trying to complete the orders that are already placed around the board.

If there are already cakes in this bakery display that match the new order, you can complete it straight away. You can complete several orders on your turn, from 1 or more displays.

  1. Watch out! Cakozaurus has got a whiff of these mouthwatering, freshly baked cakes, and he's coming to gobble them up!

Roll the movement die, then move Cakozaurus to the display indicated by the die.

Note: whenever you move Cakozaurus, make sure his tongue is always pointing towards the dispenser and that he is not touching any other component on the table.

Collect all the cakes in this display and drop them into Cakozaurus' mouth.

Note: if you put 1 or more red chilli cakes into Cakozaurus's mouth, then roll the die again and move Cakozaurus to the corresponding bakery display. Cakozaurus then eats all the cakes in this display as well! He can therefore move multiple times during a turn and eat all the cakes in several displays.

When Cakozaurus reaches an empty display, he doesn't eat anything and stops here.

  1. Pass the cloth bag and the mini scoop to the player on your left for their turn.

End of the Game

The game ends following 1 of these 3 scenarios:

  • There are no cubes left in the cloth bag.
  • The final order on the board is completed.
  • Cakozaurus falls over and the cakes tumble out of his mouth - game over!

Count the total number of orders you and your teammates have completed and win the corresponding award:

  • You completed between 1 to 6 orders, you are APPRENTICE BAKERS! Cakozaurus made a right mess of your orders! Your customers are a little disappointed, but your cakes were so tasty that you still get a bronze award - not bad at all!
  • You completed between 7 to 10 orders, you are MASTER BAKERS! Cakozaurus pinched a few cakes while your back was turned, but you managed to keep on top of the situation. More and more customers are coming to your bakery and the orders are non-stop - silver award, well done!
  • You completed between 11 to 15 orders, you are SUPER BAKERS! Not even Cakozaurus lurking in wait for the tiniest crumb of cake can faze you! Orders are flooding in and your bakery has become the talk of the town. You've earned the gold award, congratulations!
  • You completed 16 orders or more, you are STAR BAKERS! Your cakes have become famous the whole world over, every day crowds of customers come flocking to your bakery! Even Cakozaurus has slowed down his gobbling to savour your delicious desserts. What an incredible talent! You're star bakers!
