Components
- 45 animal cards (3 sets of 15)
- 19 chicken-run cards (15 with animals, 2 with chicken poop, 2 with a shovel)
- These rules
This game contains small parts and is not suitable for children under 3 years old.
Setup
Shuffle the 19 chicken-run cards and spread them face down on the table.
Shuffle the 45 animal cards and deal each player a face-down number of them:
- 2 or 3 players: 15 each
- 4 players: 11 each
- 5 players: 9 each
- 6 players: 7 each
Return the remaining cards to the box.
Each player forms their cards into a face-down stack and places it in front of them without looking at the cards. Then each player draws the top 5 cards of their stack and takes them into their hand.
Object of the Game
The players try to find the matching pictures in the chicken runs (the chicken-run cards on the table) that match the cards in their hand. When a player manages to do so, they may discard those cards. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins.
Course of Play
The players determine the starting player by lot. Play proceeds clockwise. On your turn, choose one of your hand cards and place it face up in front of you. Then turn over one of the chicken-run cards on the table.
-
If the picture on the chicken-run card is not the same as the picture on the hand card you played, you must take your played card back into your hand and turn the chicken-run card face down again. Then the next player takes their turn.
-
If the picture on the chicken-run card is the same as the picture on the hand card you played, you discard your played card and your turn continues immediately. Leave the face-up chicken-run card where it is, discard one more card from your hand face up in front of you, and turn over a new chicken-run card. You may continue playing until you turn over a chicken-run card whose picture is not the same as the picture on your played card. If you have no cards left in your hand, your turn also ends.
Lucky break! If a player turns over a picture in the chicken runs of which they have more than one card in their hand, they may set all of those cards aside.
Only once your turn is over do you turn all of the face-up chicken-run cards face down again and top up your hand to 5 cards. Draw the cards from your own stack.
If there are not enough cards in your stack to top up your hand to 5, you take all of them and continue playing with fewer than 5 cards in hand.
Chicken Poop and Shovel
Two of the chicken-run cards show a picture of chicken poop. When a player turns over such a picture, they urgently need a shovel to clear up the chicken poop. Therefore, the player may immediately turn over one more chicken-run card.
There are now 3 possibilities:
-
The player turns over a shovel. Great! They take their played animal card back into their hand.
-
The player turns over an animal card. That is unfortunate! They must immediately draw 2 cards, but not from their own stack. They may choose either 2 cards from one stack of another player of their choice, or 1 card each from the stacks of two different players of their choice. Then they take their played animal card back into their hand.
-
The player turns over another chicken-run card showing chicken poop. That is enormous bad luck! They must immediately draw 4 cards, but not from their own stack. They may choose freely from which player(s) they draw the cards. Then they take their played animal card back into their hand.
In all cases, after taking back their played animal card, the player may swap any of the open chicken-run cards on the table with each other as they wish. Then they turn them face down again. Now the player's turn is over.
Note: Because cards are drawn from other players' stacks, a player may end their turn with more than 5 cards in hand.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a player has discarded their last card. That player has won the game.
Translator's note: the printed Dutch rules read "zodra en speler zijn laatste kaart heeft afgelegd" in the End of the Game section; this is read as "zodra een speler" (as soon as a player) and translated accordingly.
