Components
- 75 tiles (including 10 special tiles).
- 1 tile distribution board, in two parts (with the Sylvania Islands on one side and the score track on the other).
- 3 Tile Selectors.
Per Legendary Figure:
- 1 Island board, in two parts, with a light side and a dark side (4 in total).
- 2 wooden Brave pawns, one Agile and one Invincible (8 in total).
- 1 score marker (4 in total).
Goal of the Game
Build a double course that concentrates as many trials as possible so that your two Braves score "a maximum of points" by travelling along them.
Each Brave follows its own path and scores points depending on what it encounters: the Invincible Brave must face strange creatures, while the Agile Brave must brave hostile places.
Will your Braves rise to the challenges that await them? Make the right choices to earn a maximum of prestige points and become the Legend of the Archipelago.
Setup
- Choose the Legendary Figure you wish to embody during the game, and take the individual board (your island), the score marker and the two Braves of the matching colour. Assemble the two parts of your board.
- For a first game, take your island with the light side visible. If you want more difficulty, you may take your board with the dark side visible. All Legendary Figures must use their island on the same side.
- Place your Braves on their designated camps: the Agile Brave goes at the bottom left of the island, and the Invincible Brave goes at the top right.
- Shuffle all the tiles face down, then place them in the box, all in the same orientation, to form the draw pile.
- Assemble the tile distribution board and place it in the centre of the table, with the Sylvania Islands side visible. Draw 12 tiles and place them face up around it, so that each tile sits against one of the edges of the board.
- Place the Tile Selectors on their starting positions, represented by the celestial islands connected by a suspension bridge to the central island.
You now embody a Legendary Figure. The last person to have visited an island begins play.
Playing the Game
On your turn, a Legendary Figure first chooses and places a tile on its island, then moves the Tile Selector and completes the tile distribution board.
1. Choose and Place a Tile on Your Island
On your turn, you may choose any of the three tiles designated by the Tile Selectors. Place the chosen tile on your island, respecting the following constraints:
- The tile must continue one of the two starting paths, or be adjacent to a tile already placed on your island.
- The tile must respect the grid of your island.
- You may turn the tile over, thereby placing a crossing in your course.
- The paths do not have to be properly connected. However, if your Brave reaches a dead end, it will be blocked (see Scoring below).
- Some tiles have no paths at all, but the placement constraints remain the same.
2. Move the Tile Selector and Complete the Tile Distribution Board
Move the Tile Selector that was facing the chosen tile clockwise, and place it in front of the next tile. If there is already a Tile Selector facing that tile, place it in front of the following tile instead. Then draw a new tile and place it face up in the empty space of the tile distribution board.
The next Legendary Figure, clockwise, now takes its turn.
End of the Game
When all islands are complete, the game ends and the scoring phase begins.
Turn the tile distribution board over to reveal the score track, then place the score marker of each Legendary Figure on the starting space. The two Braves of each Legendary Figure are then moved from their respective starting points onto the courses built during the game.
When a score marker reaches 50 points, it is turned over and counting continues from space 1: 51, 52, and so on (see the detailed prestige point values below).
The Legendary Figure that earns the most prestige points wins and becomes the Legend of the Archipelago.
In case of a tie, share the victory and play another game!
Scoring
Move each Brave on your island, starting from its starting point:
- If the Brave reaches a crossing, choose the path it takes.
- A Brave may never pass twice along the same path. However, a space may be crossed by both Braves, one after the other.
- The Brave must always continue along its path, even if that is not convenient for you.
- If a path ends, either because it leaves the board or because it reaches a dead end, your Brave stops its progress. You may deliberately choose a path with no exit.
The original rulebook shows an example of a route the Braves can follow; the diagram is not reproduced here.
Trials – Light Side
The Agile Brave
- If it encounters a Claymore, score 3 prestige points.
- If it encounters a Haunted Tower, score as many prestige points as there are Spectres present on your entire island.
- If it encounters a Lava Circle, score 2 prestige points if it is incomplete, or 7 prestige points if it is complete.
The Invincible Brave
- If it encounters a Mage, score 3 prestige points.

- If it encounters a complete Lava Circle, score 4 prestige points.
The Invincible Brave
