Story
You are a young adept of alchemy. You just found a powerful Book of Rituals. To perform any of them, first, you need to obtain knowledge about elements and alchemical ingredients.
The Book of Rituals contains 3 chapters. In each of them, you need to solve puzzles to find the magical secrets of ancient powers. During your game, you will notice a storyline and you will find some of your old friends. But beware - some of them may turn out to be your enemies.
The Book of Rituals plot happens in the Escape Tales universe - but you don't need to know anything about it to solve the whole book. Everyone who plays the other Escape Tales games will find many easter eggs and followups to some of the events from The Awakening or Children of Wyrmwoods.

How the Book Works
The book stands out with a formula that encourages - and sometimes forces - exploration in the order that is convenient for the players. It does not have a single path from puzzle to puzzle. The mechanics have been prepared in such a way that players who get stuck on one of the tasks can freely solve others and return to it later with fresh ideas, or use the hints without the feeling of losing.
Solving riddles is done with the help of a free application that does not require installation and works on both mobile devices and computers. The app is primarily used to check answers, but it also provides hints for riddles. Players are not judged or punished for using the hints - the overall goal is player satisfaction, so the application is designed to help them, not judge them.
Setup
To start the game you will need:
- A pencil.
- A phone, tablet, or computer on which you can launch the book's web application, at app.escape-tales.com.
You will need the app to check answers, get hints, and collect feedback when you enter the correct password. You do not need permanent Internet access to use the application - you just need to turn it on at the very beginning of the game, and the system will then download its resources and be able to open it offline afterward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know all the parts from the Escape Tales board game series to complete the book?
No. The book is an independent product. Knowledge of the plot of the Escape Tales series will surely add flavor at times and allow you to spot easter eggs, but it will not affect the solving of puzzles.
Can I solve puzzles in a larger group?
Yes, you can. Solving problems in a group is a good idea if you like it, but too many players can make the game less comfortable.
Is there an age restriction?
No, but it is not recommended for the youngest players due to the difficulty of the puzzles and the story setting. Nothing will happen if you invite your eight-year-old child to play, but keep in mind that the subject is difficult, and it may simply not be interesting for a young kid.
Are there penalties for taking hints?
No. The game is supposed to be fun, so any activity in the application - apart from typing the correct answer - does not affect the story in any way. If a puzzle frustrates you, you can take hints or even a correct answer from the app.
Can I use the app on older phones?
You only need a modern web browser to use the application. If your phone is able to run, for example, Chrome or Safari, there will be no problems. Older versions of browsers may display some elements in a less aesthetic way, but this will not disrupt the game. Internet Explorer is completely incompatible with the application - use Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari instead. The application is desktop friendly - just go to app.escape-tales.com in a modern browser and everything will work fine.
Is there a walkthrough for the whole book?
Yes, it exists on YouTube. Watch out for spoilers - only watch when you're sure you want to see how to solve a puzzle.
