Components
- 32 round tiles, showing 8 kinds of candy (each with a back).
- 32 square tiles, showing the same candies (each with a back).
- 3 coin tiles.
- 1 empty wrapper tile.
Setup
Shuffle the 36 square tiles and lay them face down in the centre of the table, forming a 6x6 square.
Shuffle the 32 round tiles and deal 4 to each player. Without looking at them, each player lays them in a row in front of them, face down. The remaining tiles are set aside.
An example of what a 3-player game could look like is shown in the rulebook illustration.
Goal of the Game
Be the first to have all of your round tiles face up.
Turn
The game is played clockwise. The youngest player starts.
On their turn, a player in principle flips one square tile and one round tile.
Note: when flipping a tile, make sure all players can see it.
If these two tiles are 100% identical (same candy of the same colour), they are left face up and in place. The same player may play again.
If they are not identical, the player turns them face down again and it is the turn of the player to their left.
It is permitted to flip a round tile first, then a square tile.
After turning a square tile whose pair one thinks one cannot find, one may also flip nothing else, to avoid the risk of theft.
Theft
If you think you know the tile of an opponent, you may try to find a pair that includes one of their round tiles. If you succeed, you steal that tile from them and exchange it with one of yours. Their tile is placed face up in front of you, and your tile is placed face down in front of them.
End of the Game and Victory
The game ends as soon as a player has all of their round tiles face up in front of them at the end of their turn. That player wins the game.
Special Tiles
Coin
If you begin your turn by flipping a coin tile, and manage to subsequently flip the 2 other coin tiles, take all 3 tiles and place them on one of your round tiles. That tile then counts as found.
Notes:
- The covered tile can no longer be stolen from you.
- This is the only time in the game when more than 2 tiles may be flipped in the same turn.
- Note that the 3 coin tiles are necessarily all among the tiles in the middle.
Empty Wrapper
This is the bad-luck tile: the player who flips it leaves it in place face up and draws one additional round tile. They place it in front of themselves face down and will play the rest of the game with 5 tiles.
Quick Variant
Among the round tiles, choose 2 kinds of candy and remove them from the game (8 tiles). Among the square tiles, remove the same 2 kinds of candy (8 tiles), as well as the 3 coin tiles. Form a 5x5 square. The rest is unchanged.
