- 4 player aid cards
- Score sheet
Setup
-
Give each player a starting card with a value corresponding to the number of players, according to the table below. Each player places their card face up in front of them. That card is the first card in their field. Return the rest of the starting cards to the box.
-
Remove flower cards according to the table below, and return them to the box.
| No. of players | Starting value | Card no. to remove |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | 25 | 25, 51-100 |
| 3 | 37 | 37, 76-100 |
| 4 | 50 | 50 |
-
Shuffle the remaining flower cards and place them in a face down deck in the center of the table.
-
Place the score sheet next to the deck.
2-player setup: Player 1 field and Player 2 field each start with a card showing 25. The face down deck sits in the center, and the score sheet is placed next to it.
Game Play
Each round, deal every player the number of flower cards according to the table below:
| Round | No. of cards |
|---|---|
| 1 | 9 |
| 2 | 8 |
| 3 | 7 |
Players perform the following actions simultaneously:
- Choose a card from your hand and place it face down next to your field.
After everyone has chosen a card:
-
In the 1st and 3rd rounds pass the rest of the cards to the player to your left. In the 2nd round pass the rest of the cards to the player to your right.
-
Turn your chosen card face up. Place the card on your field according to the rules (see Placing flower cards below).
-
Repeat until all players have only 2 cards in their hand to choose from. Then each player chooses 1 card to place in their field and discards the other card.
Placing flower cards
- A card can only be placed orthogonally adjacent to an existing card.
- A card of a higher value than the existing card/s must be placed above or to the right of those card/s.
- A card of a lower value than the existing card/s must be placed below or to the left of those card/s.
Example: Richard wants to place a card with the number 28. He may place it to the right or above card 25. He chooses to place it above card 25.
Note: When placing a card, only the numbers of the cards adjacent to the card you place are relevant, and not the other cards in the same row/column that are separated by a gap.
Example: Richard places the card with the number 36 above the card 27. This placement is legal although the 36 card is lower than the 42 card, because the 36 card does not touch the 42 card.
You may place a card over an existing card if it is a legal placement. The maximum size of each player's field is a 6 x 6 grid of cards. If you cannot place a card in a legal location or do not wish to use the card, place it face down next to your field.
At the end of each round all players score their multicolor flower sets in their fields, and a new round begins.
Scoring
Multicolor flower sets
At the end of each round, every player scores each of their rows and columns of multicolor flower sets according to the following table, and writes their score on the score sheet:
| Number of different flowers in a column/row | VP |
|---|---|
| 0-3 | 0 |
| 4 | 3 |
| 5 | 6 |
| 6 | 12 |
Example: The numbers in the picture below show how many points Richard has in each row and column of his field. Richard scores 6 VP for the 3rd column and 3 VP for the 3rd row.
Same flower cards
At the end of the game, every player also scores each of their biggest orthogonal group of the same flower according to the following table:
| Number of same flowers in a column/row | VP |
|---|---|
| 0-2 | 0 |
| 3 | 4 |
| 4 | 10 |
| 5 | 18 |
| 6 or more | 28 |
Example: Richard has a group of 4 orthogonally adjacent Iris (purple) cards and a group of 5 orthogonally adjacent of Anemeone (red) cards. Richard scores 10 VP for the Iris set and 18 VP for the Anemeone set.
Winning
The player with the most points is the winner. In case of a tie, they share the victory.

Solo Version
The solo game plays very similar to a regular 2 player game where you play against a dummy player. The setup is the same as the setup for 2 player game but place the starting card with the number 25 only in front of you.
The game is played over 3 rounds:
- In the first round deal two decks of cards face down, a deck of 9 cards and a deck of 8 cards.
- In the second round deal a deck of 8 cards and a deck of 7 cards.
- In the third and last round deal a deck of 7 cards and a deck of 6 cards.
Each round, starting from the larger deck, look at all the cards in the deck and choose 1 card for yourself and another card for the dummy. Place your card in front of you following the same rules as in the regular game. Place the dummy's cards face up next to you, and arrange them by color. Then return the deck face down to table and do the same with the smaller deck. Continue selecting cards for yourself and for the dummy, each time from a different deck. When a deck has only one card left, discard that card. When both decks are empty the round is over. Score your different colored flower cards for each row and column as in the regular game.
At the end of the game score your same color flower cards as in the regular game and add the points to your total score. Then score only the same color flower cards for the dummy according to the number of cards of each color.
Compare your score to the dummy's score and see if you were able to beat it.
Note: the source rulebook contains a few spelling typos ("orthogonaly", "acording", "foe"); they have been corrected in this transcription to "orthogonally", "according" and "for". The flower name "Anemeone" is kept as printed.
