1 board, 1 sand timer, 400 word cards, "definition sheets", 6 pawns.

Objective

Be the first to reach GRAN BLEFF.

Setup

Each player receives a "definition sheet", chooses a coloured pawn and places it on the starting point of the board (Start).

Definition

Before starting the game, the players must agree on the level of exactness the answers must have.

Gameplay

  1. One of the players is chosen to be the coordinator for the first round.

  2. The coordinator takes the first card from the box, without anyone seeing its contents.

  3. The coordinator then chooses one of the five words on the card and reads it aloud. The other players write the word in the corresponding space of their "definition sheet".

  4. The coordinator turns over the sand timer, and the players have a minute and a half to write their definitions.

  5. When writing their definition, the player has two alternatives:

    • Know the meaning and write it correctly.
    • Not know it and lie to their opponents by writing a misleading definition.

Think about it: if you do not know it, make something up, but make your answer look correct!

  6. While the other players write their definitions, the coordinator writes the correct answer on their "definition sheet". The correct definitions are on the back of the word cards. For example: definition 1 corresponds to word 1, and so on.

  7. The coordinator collects all the answers, checking that they are legible, and reads all the definitions aloud, including their own, without mentioning who wrote them. (The coordinator must disguise their reading of the answers so that the tone of their voice gives no clue.)

  8. The coordinator must read the definitions as many times as necessary.

  9. In turn, clockwise starting from the coordinator, each player must decide which definition they vote for. The coordinator writes the initial of the person who voted on the "definition sheet" that received the vote, in the place called "points".

Scoring

  • 1 point for each player for each vote their definition receives.
  • 2 points for each player who votes for the correct meaning.
  • 3 points for each player whose definition is the correct one.
  • 3 points for the coordinator, only if no player chooses the correct meaning.

Remarks

A player may, as an option to deceive their opponents, vote for their own definition, but will not receive any points for that vote. The player advances on the board a number of spaces equal to the number of points obtained in each round.

Notes

  1. If the coordinator receives a correct definition, they must not read it aloud. They set it aside, automatically awarding 3 points to the player who proposed it, and read it aloud at the end of the play (the player moves their pawn 3 spaces). The play continues normally (with one definition fewer) but the player who wrote the correct definition does not take part in the voting.
  2. If the coordinator receives more than one correct definition, the round is cancelled and the coordinator chooses a new card. However, the players who gave the correct definitions receive the 3 points.
  • After everyone has voted, the coordinator reveals the correct meaning. The points are counted and, according to them, the pawns are moved on the board (see SCORING). The coordinator is responsible for adding up the points.

  • The player to the left of the coordinator becomes the new coordinator and the game continues in the same way.
