Object of the Game
Create the most thrilling roller coaster ride by going through tiles with tunnels, slopes and loops. Score points by connecting multiple tiles, making the longest ride and helping other players. Be cautious not to go overboard as you might lose points if you scare your passengers!
The player with the highest score when the last tile has been played wins the game!
Player Boards
Players earn points for each row on their Player Board. When exceeding a row's maximum score, players add an Arrow Token and gradually reduce their score. The player(s) with the longest track at the end win a +3 Bonus.
Each row of the Player Board is a score track: Tunnel score, Slope score, Loop score, Help score and Connection score. Insert the Wooden Cubes in the numbered areas. Insert an Arrow Token when you go overboard. Insert a 3-point Token here for having the longest tracks.
Set Up
- Each player takes 1 Player Board, 1 Wooden Cart Meeple, 5 Wooden Cubes of the same color, 5 Arrow Tokens and 1 +3 Token.
- Each player places one of their Wooden Cubes on the 0 mark of each row of their Player Board.
- Place the Starting Tile at the center of the table. Each player puts their Cart on the starting point matching their color.
- Take all the tiles with a yellow back, including the bigger Loop tiles, and set them aside face up on the table.
- Mix the other purple tiles and make 3 separate piles of about the same height. Players start the game with one tile in hand.
- Flip the top tile of each pile and lay them out to create a market of rails (3 tiles).
- The game begins with the player who screams the loudest when aboard a roller coaster.
Note: For 2-4 players, we recommend choosing player colors that are adjacent to each other on the starting tile.
How to Play Blast Track
On their turn, players select a tile from the market. They then place one of the two tiles they have in their hand onto their path to extend their roller coaster. Play proceeds clockwise.
Important note: Players cannot play a tile that might result in a collision with other players or cause any cart to return to the Starting Tile.
Build the Most Thrilling Ride
Players will earn points by crossing paths that have Special Tiles: Entrance tiles are in green and Exit tiles are in red. See the Tile Description Summary on the last page of the rulebook.
Tunnel Tiles
When players put a Tunnel Entrance Tile (green tunnels) into play, they increase their Tunnel score on their Player Board by 1. They must take the matching Tunnel Exit Tile (red tunnels) in the face-up deck and place it on the board according to the following rules:
-
The active player enters and exits by the same tunnel number.
-
The Tunnel Exit must only connect to one side of another tile on the board.
-
The Tunnel Exit Tile cannot touch another Tunnel Exit Tile.
-
Players who go through a Tunnel Tile increase their Tunnel score by 1.
Note: Players cannot slide their cart into the Tunnel Exit tile.
-
Players who exceed a Tunnel score of 5 add a red Arrow Token on their Player Board. Their Tunnel score gradually decreases as passengers become frightened of the dark.
Example: The Pink player plays a green Tunnel Entrance Tile and enters tunnel number 4. They then connect the red Tunnel Exit Tile to one edge of another tile. Subsequently, they move their cart to the Tunnel Exit Tile, following the same tunnel number.
Slope Tiles
When players put a Slope Tile (red speed arrows) into play they increase their Slope score by 1.
-
The active player plays an extra turn by picking another face down tile from one of the decks.
Note: No more face down tiles? Players do not play any tile. If the player cannot place the second tile they draw, they put it back at the bottom of one of the decks.
-
If a player places a second Slope Tile, it will be considered as a tile with no scoring.
-
Players who go through a Slope Tile increase their score by 1.
-
Players who exceed a Slope score of 5 add a red Arrow Token on their Player Board. Their Slope score gradually decreases as passengers become frightened of the speed.
Example: The Orange player plays a Slope Tile. They flip a face down tile and extend their path immediately.
Loop Tiles
When players put a Loop Tile into play, they increase their Loop score by 1.
- The active player discards the Loop Symbol Tile and replaces it with one of the face up Loop Tiles available. All Loop Tiles have the same configuration.
- They choose where to connect the Loop Tile by following the same placement rules as a regular tile.
- Players who go through a Loop Tile increase their Loop score by 1.
- Players who exceed a Loop score of 5 add a red Arrow Token on their Player Board. Their Loop score gradually decreases as passengers become dizzy.
Example: The Blue player plays a Loop Symbol Tile and replaces it with a Loop Tile. They place the tile and move their cart through the loop.
Helping Others
When a player makes other players go down their ride at the same time as their own cart, the active player increases their Help score by 1.
- All players involved move down their cart to the end of their path.
- Players who exceed a Help score of 5 add a red Arrow Token on their Player Board. Their Help score gradually decreases as passengers move too close to other roller coasters.
Example: The Yellow player plays a tile that also connects to another player's path. Both players extend their path in different directions at the same time.
Connecting Multiple Tiles
When a player places their tile and makes a connection of at least 3 tiles together, they will increase their connection score by 1.
- A Tunnel Entrance and Exit Tile count only as 1 tile.
- Players who go through 3 tiles or more by getting some help do not increase their Connection score.
- Players can make a maximum of 5 Connection points.
Example: The Purple player plays a tile that connects to 2 other tiles along their path.
Construction Tiles
WARNING! Stuck? Help is on the way!
When a player encounters a situation where they cannot play a tile, they can use one of the construction sites to relocate to another area within the park. They should select the Entrance and Exit Tiles from those face up on the table. The same rules as for a Tunnel Tile apply in this case.
- Players who go through a construction site will lose 1 point from one of their score tracks of their choice.
- Players cannot score tunnels or connexions by using the construction sites.
Note: Use the Construction Tiles as sets. When both are used in a game, remember to retrace your steps using the right color set. The center background color (purple or brown) identifies the Construction Tile set.
Construction Tile sets: the Rock set (purple) and the Fresh Ground set (brown). Each set shows an Entrance in yellow and an Exit in red.
Game End
The game ends when all players have played their last tile. Once the decks are empty, players use the tiles remaining in their hand.
Scoring
Players return their carts to the Starting Tile and proceed along their path, counting tiles (excluding the Starting Tile). The player(s) with the longest ride then places their +3 Bonus token on their board.
Note: A set of Tunnel Entrance and Exit Tiles count a 1 Rail Tile.
Players add up the score of their score tracks. The player with the highest score wins! In case of a tie, the player with the longest ride wins. If the tie remains, the player who went through the most loops wins.
Younger Player Variant
Younger players can ignore the arrow symbol that makes them loose points if they go past 5 on their score track. They can also play only for the longest rail path. Whoever has the longest ride at the end wins.
