Must I build with the Woodworker, and does 'may construct' in English mean it's optional?
You must do both: remove a forest, gain 1 wood and construct a building, in either order. The wood can pay toward the building. The English 'may' is a translation error; the rulebook's own Woodworker entry also says you can't only gain wood or only build.
